  1. BC/BS is very strict with their policies. They finally approved my surgery 12/07 after two years. I had my surgery 2/4. Be patient and if you are denied (I was denied 3 times) keep after them.
  2. Have you had your first fill yet? I had surgery 2/4 and had clear fluids the first 2 days, followed by full fluids for a week. I then got to eat soft food for a couple of days and now eat everything.
  3. Don't listen to them. I have a BMI of 35 with 3 existing medical conditions. People told me the same thing. After two years, my insurance approved my surgery. It's been 11 days since surgery and I am so glad I had it done. I am 51 years old and have 6 grandchildren. I want to ride a bike with them this summer and travel with them. I tried Weight Watcher's 7 years ago and lost 50lbs only to have all the weight and then some return within 5 years. If you want the surgery - go for it and get support through others. Good Luck.
