  1. Hey congratulations. I have a point or so to go before I am "overweight" and not obese. I feel great. Had a fill yesterday and the nurse is so very pleased with how I am doing. I did not lose as much as I wanted last month but she said the loss can slow down a bit after a few months. She wants a 1-2 lb. loss per week. That's fine with me. Funny I notice that people look at me now...and I get much faster help in the stores. LOLLOLLOL I am not ignored any more.
  2. LOL on the NSV. My size 14 petite jeans I boughtr 3 weeks ago are getting big on the legs. So.....hoping by New Year I can get some 12's or 11's. I won't go shopping till I hit 170 then see what fits. Hope to be that by New Years. I am still wearing tops and they are big. So glad that's the style still. I have lots of those baby doll empire tops and now they fit so much better. I can wear them for a few more months. I want to get through the winter before I buy anything more than new jeans. Although there is a sweater at Coldwater Creek I have my eye on....hope it goes on sale after the holidays. It's a bit pricy. LOL
  3. I had my 3rd fill and lost almost 3 lbs. I did eat a bit too much this week so the past month I didn't lose as much as I thought. I hope I can make my New Years goal of 170. I think I can. I still have 2 Christmas parties to go too....but I will be good. I promise. At least I am halfway to my goal weight of 130. So I hope to hit that by June or July. I know the last 20 lbs. or so are the hardest to get off. My fill was yesterday and despite my less than stellar weight loss the past month my Nurse/Practitioner was pleased, she told me most of the patients gain a pound or two during the weeks around Thanksgiving. It's expected. So I am back on track. Pssst...went to a Christmas party and ate just some chowder/salad...but....had a piece of cheesecake. It was yummy and went down nicely LOL. My first real dessert in 5 months. My last for the year.
  4. I also was a Diet Coke addict. Your drinking carbonated drinks now after the band. That is a big no no. Were you told to not drink them. They can cause problems with the band. Stop immediately. And talk to your doctor or nurse practitioner. You should check on getting a fill or two if you have not gotten them. Stop the DC now......
  5. Hey nothing wrong with them as far as I am concerned. We need snacks. I have either a fat/sugar free container of pudding with small spoonful of a new low fat/no sugar whipped topping. Or one bar of Bryers sugar free low fat chocolate covered ice cream. Yummy. It gets me through the day of eating good healthy foods. Keeps me from eating the bad stuff.
  6. Well I gained a pound after Turkey Day....eating leftovers. So this week I was pretty good lost that pound. Back on track with food and excercise this week. Hope to be 176 or 175 by next Friday. My goal was 170 by New Year's and I should make it. It's hard during the holidays to get that exercise in. Today and this weekend getting all the Christmas in house decorations up and the tree. Hope everyone had a good week.
  7. Hey things happen half a pound is not that much. I gained a pound last week and hope that I have that is gone by tomorrow morning. I know every day I have to watch what I eat. Keep the head hunger away. It's a daily struggle still but worth it. Next week I get my 3rd fill. And I hope I get some good restriction.
  8. Hey it's only a month for you WBS. Call for a fill and follow all the doctors and your nutritionists advise. The band is a tool not a miracle. You get out of it what you put into it.
  9. Nettie you are doing fine, how many fills have you had. I was at a plateau and had my first and second fill, now going for my third one next week. As you lose the band becomes loose and you can eat more. Best to check and have a fill or make appointment for one when the plateau starts. I am at one now..I actually gained 1 lb. for last week's Thanksgiving dinner. Been trying all week to shed that pound and one more. No such luck. Hope to see it gone by tomorrow morning. Don't be discouraged. My doctor and NP want me to lose between 8 and 10 lbs. a month. They are quite happy with that.
  10. Well I became "whey" intolerant after the surgery, had to switch to soy based Protein drink. Never had a problem before the surgery, something just didn't mix with my band. Now when I get a fill I just have the Edge Advantage, chocolate soy Protein Drink. With a shot or two of Hershey's Chocolate sugar free syrup and some ice in a blender it's yummy.
  11. I tossed most of the leftovers. I took the two turkeys I cooked and stripped all the left over meat. Packaged it. took the carcasses and broke them up. I added onions, carrots and herbs and celery and some small amount of left over gravy. No fat gravy that I made and made a rich stock. It's out on the porch...cold tonight will de-fat it and strain it and then make a nice rich turkey soup with lots of veggies, small amount of little pasta things for soup. Will freeze some and give some away. I love my turkey soup.
  12. Some spanx are very expensive. I wonder if anyone has purchased the ones on TV, I have seen two different kinds both look good and are not too expensive.
  13. I admit I went a bit over the top the past few days. No where near what I would have eaten before the surgery. So back on a real restricted diet and Protein drinks for a few days to get the old body back to what I was. I gained a pound over the weekend. One fill before Christmas on December 11th. So at least 48 hours on liquids then. I hope to be 170 by New Years day. I won't add the pound on now, I'll wait for my Friday weigh in to see what happens. LOL I won't keep any real sweets in the house. And on Christmas cook a nice healthy meal. Good roast, with lots of veggies and salad. I was at a craft fair, and this couple was selling home made diet hot chocolate drinks, a powder. Made with Splenda. I had a sample of the Chocolate/Peanut Butter Cup - Hot chocolate, so yummy tasted like a melted Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Only 30 calories a cup and it sure satisfied my chocolate urge. LOL
  14. I would change PCP's asap....get one who is more sympathetic and not so judgmental. I switched my PCP a few years ago and thank heavens I did. My old one probably wouldn't approve of lap band she was a skinny women who said things like "We must lose weight" "We must quit smoking"....I finally asked her what the "We" meant when it was 'ME". She was not amused. I changed right after that, quit smoking and now am losing weight, she does not work at the clinic where I go anymore I can see why. No warmth or bedside manner at all. I would like to find her and go give her a big "Raspberry" LOL LOL
  15. Thanks feeling better this morning. And I still managed to lose .4 lbs. this past week LOL Having my liquids today to give tummy a rest. I surely don't like PBing...it's awful. I will let the family eat the leftovers. I'll freeze some of it myself and then make turkey Soup. I love it it's thick and has tons of veggies in it and a little Pasta. More like a stew than soup.
  16. I managed to make the 50 lbs. mark with just .4 pounds weight loss. Hey I am happy. I ate yesterday at 2:00 PM and everything was fine, small portions and I was satisfied. BUT at 8:00 PM I was hungry and decided to get a small plate with a small portion of white meat turkey, and spoonful of stuffing and squash and some whole berry cranberry sauce. I ate a bit too fast...dumb me and the stuffing got stuck and expanded...uggggg it hurt and I slimmed really bad and the stuffing came up. It wasn't like vomiting no dry heaves but it was disgusting. So.......I am learning my lesson to not eat fast when hungry. My third slimming episode in almost 4 months so not too bad. Today just liquids for me to settle my stomach. and no more stuffing ever at this point.
  17. Well I found out I can't eat stuffing....was fine during this afternoon's dinner, just ate some white meat and a spoonful ( I mean tablespoonful) of everything else. I ate slowly and was fine Had a very very small piece of apple pie, with nothing on it, no ice cream or whipped cream, and I left half the crust. Sooooo tonight at 8:00 was hungry and made myself a small plate with turkey, stuffing a bit of squash and some cranberry sauce. Started eating, had the meat first then a bit of the squash, was fine. Started eating a bit of stuffing and wham....I felt awful, stopped eating immediately and put the food back in the fridge. Well I slimmed worse than ever for about half an hour and then I sort of vomited, not like real heaves, just the stuffing came up with the slime in one big mass, geez I think that stuff expanded a lot in there. I don't think I will ever eat one bite of stuffing again after that. I will go on liquids for a day or two to give my band and stomach a rest. Guess you learn something every day.....geez
  18. Well I was a bad girl, I am having my 3rd fill December 11th. But today I ate just a small amount of food at dinner. It was later tonight about 8:00 I was hungry. So....I got a small plate with a spoonful of stuffing and a bit of turkey and some fat free gravy, Well after just a few bites I felt terrible. I slimmed for a half an hour and some of the stuffing came back up. uggggg I don't think I will ever eat stuffing again it was pretty disgusting. Now feeling much better. Waiting an hour and then will have a nice cup of sugar free coco. My treat for the day. Sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach that's for sure. The band does keep you from overeating that much I know. Duh!!!!!!!
  19. I wrote your daughter and hope she does well. I know how she feels it's very scary at first. She will get better and be thrilled with this in the future.
  20. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I just put the 20 lb. turkey in the oven and it smells soooo good here LOL Making a huge dinner for family and friends, luckily when I cook this much I never eat that much I am too tired and all "fooded out" So I never overeat. Just have to not want a huge turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce (whole berries) and boiled onion on nice thick soft white bread sandwich at midnight tonight. LOL Hope everyone has a great day with family and friends and that you don't get "stuck" and slime. I plan not to.
  21. I have no trouble with pita bread in small bites. Bet after a few days, after being filled you can have some. It was a recommended bread by my nutritionist. I get a local brand Joseph's that is made with flax seed and whole wheat and has Protein and is a bit softer than regular pita. Very good and low cal and no cholesterol. Or try wrapping a bit of humus in lettuce.
  22. I was instructed after a fill, to go back to liquids and soft food for 48 hours and ease back into your regular eating. I keep a few Healthy Choice meals in the freezer. I love them and they give the Protein amounts on them. Easy to nuke and tasty also.
  23. Did you have seminars and talks with nutritionists about just what the band is and does? That helps a lot, I refer back to my paperwork and my "bible" those are the eating instructions I got after the band. Keep in mind that you are in control of the band and your eating. The band is only as good as you make it. I know that's hard. I get hungry a lot, have had 2 fills, a few slimming episodes, ugg. And I have to continue to make good food choices. You can "eat around" the band and then you won't lose weight or lose very little and even gain wieght. Who wants that, noone, after all the work and pain you went through to get the band I make sure that when I do go a bit overboard. I take the next few days and restrict my eating to my Protein shakes and one small meal. Calories around 1000 for a few days. Then I go back to my normal 1200-1500 calories a day. I now weight myself once a week. That prevents me from getting depressed when I don't lose or gain a pound. You still are thinner than when you started. I hope to get really good restriction when I get my next fill December 11th. My goals are about 8 to 10 lbs. a month. So far I am doing well. I will take my time and hope to lose the rest before next summer. Good luck and don't beat yourself up over this, just keep trying. Pati
  24. Hey great things, I won't miss people staring at me when I'm shopping The clerks in the department stores ignorning me and asking the person "behind" me if they want help. What am I f##king invisible...I think NOT!!!! Getting rashes in the summer under my boobs and having my legs rub together Not finding any bathing suit that remotely looks good What I am enjoying now Crossing my legs comfortably for the first time in years. Sitting cross legged seeing my toes able to run up and down the stairs at home without breathing hard Shopping for "normal sized" clothing. I am in size 14 pants and 18 tops at this moment In the future Slinky red dresses and high heeled red shoes slinky black dresses and high heeled black shoes LOL I see a pattern there...LOL Going swimming in a cute little tankini next summer and not feeling like I have to hide in a mumu Good luck to you all.... Happy Thanksgiving
