Destinie reacted to nigel in INTRODUCTIONS - Please tell us all about you & your MGB / OAGB / OmegaLoop Journey
HI, I have had the gastric Band, Sleeve and now the Omega Loop is scheduled for June 29 2015. I was 165KG, got down as low as about 90 and currently about 104. Hopefully after the Omega Loop I can settle at around 88-90Kg, if so I will be very happy indeed.

I had the lapband about 5 years ago and have issues a along. To top it off it has developed a leak and needs to be repaired. I am going in on July 2nd and it will be removed and the surgeon will be performing a Mini-Gastric Bypass on me. The reason I went with the MGB is it 100% reversible unlike the sleeve and has a shorter recovery time than the Gastric Bypass. The problem with the MGB is only a few surgeons perform this operation in the US. It is extremely popular in Europe however. It has a solid track record and an estimated 80% excess weight loss expected.

Destinie reacted to Jesser in Has anyone had the sleeve done with Dr. Mario Almanza in TJ MX?
I spoke with one of his patients earlier today who has had MAJOR complications from his surgery. He hasn't even had a bite of food since August. Dr. Almanza made his stomach so tiny that it keeps collapsing and he has went thru several surgeries to correct it, but they can't fix it. I believe now he is going to convert to bypass. He said his surgeons here in the states have tried contacting Dr. Almanza but never will he return any calls. I told him that he needed to get on here and tell his story and he plans on doing so. This isn't the first story that I have heard about this doctor... please do extensive research before selecting your surgeon. Go with your gut!

Destinie reacted to defibvt in Great Surgeon and Hospital in Mexico - trying to narrow....
I am an ICU nurse, been doing this for 27 years. I feel I have done my due diligence and interviewed and assessed multiple processes and surgeons. I am very confident that I have made the right decision, I will be having my sleeve by Dr Elias Ortiz on Monday March 2, through A Lighter Me.
My process might be different from anyone else... and my criteria might be different than other. I am NOT a spokesperson for any doctor or organization. I believe in trust and honesty. Again, I feel I have made the right decision for me.
Now back to your regular program.... LOL

Research like crazy before choosing a surgeon. Look closely at the facility, staff, and followup care, too I used Dr. Ariel Ortiz and Dr. Martinez at Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. Great experience, wonderful facility, no complications and excellent results. PM me if you'd like more info.

I have UHC Choice Plus. They have been great. The only requirements I had was to be over 18,bariatric center of excellence, and BMI of 40. No diet or psych evaluation. Of course once my paperwork was submitted I would call them two or three times a day to check on the status. I would call their clinical services department though. That's not the same as the number on the back of your card. This the department where the decisions are made. After 5 days I was allowed to put in request to have it moved to the front of the line. After I did that I was approved within hours, they were even nice to call me and tell me I was approved. My doctor's office called me about an hour later and scheduled my surgery.

My surgery is scheduled for March 26th and I'm already nervous, however, as a lap band fail, I just want to get my body back!! Your fear may be of the pain after surgery?? But that's only a brief period of time considering the life-time of better health.
