Any Bandsters in their 50's?
I had lapband surgery in Oct 2008 and originally lost 25 lbs and then gained all back and then some. I am trying to motivate myself back into starting this journey over again since I still have the band. I had some problems with reflux and they took all the fill out about 6 months ago. I am so depressed about going through major surgery and being a failure again. I am not in anyway trying to discourage people I just failed myself. Cheryl

Running Weight Loss Totals by LBT'ers
Longhorn Girl, I am so proud of you. I had my surgery one day after you and I am having a hard time getting back on track. I orginally lost 23 lbs and then stopped. I started getting all my old habits back but not to the extent it was because my band won't let me eat that much but I have put back on about 5 lbs. I am so sad that I am starting to feel like a failure again. I finally got back on here this week and have been getting support. You have done so well "will you please help me"? Tell me what you eat from the time you get up and go to bed for a few days so I can try and incoorporate some good habits again. I cannot wait until I can say I have lost that much weight. I don't even know what happened. I was so excited and I don't blame the band at all it is all me. So I know I can do it but I have to have support. I really am a bread, sweet aholic. Once it touches my mouth I have no control until it wants to come back up. Thanks for listening. I am very proud of all of you too! Cheryl

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I have been very down lately about my weight loss. Holidays did me in, I ended up gaining 2 lbs but really should have gained 10 the way I ate. I lost 3 last week so I am back on track now. I have lost a total of 20 1/2 lbs. I feel like I should have lost alot more than this by now. I got a fill Tuesday so I am doing alot better right now. How is everyone else doing? Cheryl

Is my band too tight?
Why are you getting more cc's than your band is suppose to hold?

Question re: unfill then refill
Can someone tell me what it fills like to have restriction. Yesterday I went in for a fill. I was already at 6.5 cc in a 14 cc band. I was given 1.5 which brought it to an 8 cc. Then after I ate 1/2 of a banana I felt a little pressure in my lower stomach area and she got scared I was too tight. It was almost 4:00 I live 3 hours away and she said I would be back in the morning if I didn't remove some of the Fluid. She took all of it out and put back 7 which gave me a 1/2 fill for yesterday. I am feeling something a little different now and I wondered if it is restriction. First of all I am a little swollen in that area and when I ate 3 bites of oatmeal this morning I felt a different feeling in my upper stomach like I couldn't hold anything else. It didn't hurt. At lunch I kinda felt a little nauseous so I stopped eating and I felt much better later. Is this what is called restriction? I hope this doesn't sound stupid. Please let me know so I will know what to do. Cheryl

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Love is Lovely, I have had a had time this holiday. It is almost like I am not even banded. I have a 14cc band and have 4.5 cc. I can still eat anything I want which is not good. I have never gotten anything stuck and it doesn't hurt. Any advice? Cheryl

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I know what you mean. January 8th will be 3 months for me and I had initially lost 23 lbs but gained back 3 and pretty much staying there. I have discovered I can still eat bread with three fills and I am really getting discouraged. I go back Monday for another fill. They really don't want to give them if you are not eating too much. I don't know what to tell them other than I need help. Any ideas? Thanksgiving is what did me in. I discovered sweets again too. Cheryl

Average age of a Bandster?
How true that is tapshoes. I am in my fifties and I have been on every diet possible and failed every diet for the last 20 years. I am having a hard time feeling restricted but am still losing. I have 1.5 cc and I don't really get hungry I just eat too much when I do eat. At least I feel that way although I have lost almost 24 lbs. I had surgery on October 8, 2008. I am very happy with my band I just need to work on my head. Cheryl

October Bandsters!!come out come out wherever you are
All together I have lost 20lbs. I had surgery October 8th but that is also including the time before I was having tests ran before surgery. Remember guys this is not a quick fix this is a tool. You don't want to lose fast because it is much healthier this way 2 or 3 lbs at a time. Pick up the exercise and while eating less we are destined to lose. I am very happy right now and look forward to being alot healthier in the future. At least I am trying now. Good luck to all of you who have had your surgeries and those who are getting ready for surgery. It is a blessing to be able to have this surgery and it gives me hope. Cheryl:thumbup:

Nauseous
I am one week post-op today and everytime I drink my Protein drinks I get so full and then I get nauseous. I cannot even think of food right now. Is this normal. I am doing most of everything I am suppose to. I have been walking the only pain I have is on the side where the port is and the incision looks great. Cheryl

So Tired
I had my surgery on October 8th. I did not blend my cream of chicken but used alot of Water to thin it and did not eat the chicken. I feel kinda achy in my stomach and through my back not bad just aggravating. Has anyone else experienced this symptom? I told my boss I would be back tomorrow and I feel so weak I really don't feel up to it. When did you all go back to your jobs? How long does this swelling last? I don't even know if I can wear my work clothes without them rubbing up against my incisions. I am not hungry that is a good thing. Cheryl

How do you get 60g of protein in a day?
The first week after surgery I know you pretty much drink liquids. Do you drink the Protein drinks the first two days? Are you allowed to drink skim milk to mix? I know in surgery you aren't suppose to wear nail polish, are you not suppose to wear makeup or anything? Cheryl

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I pray that everything will be good for all of us and we can start our new life with the mind that we are going to Eat to Live and not Live to Eat. Seems so easy but not! I am praying this little band will be the answer to my prayers. Good Luck to all of you. I will be having my surgery tomorrow. Cheryl

Humana Insurance (I work for Depart. of Education)....What's been your experience?
Hi, I am having surgery on Wednesday. It didn't take no time for me to be approved by Humana. Probably because I have so many health problems and my doctor had everything I needed for them to send in. But, I made sure everything was correct. So, you have to communicate with the insurance girls to make sure you are getting everything you need. Good Luck to all of you in your approvals. Say a prayer for me and I will you. I will be having my surgery at Central Baptist Hospital. Dr. Weiss is my surgeon. Cheryl
