  1. You can also add unflavored protein powder to puréed foods and get more bang from your buck. I didn't watch carbs because I was eating so little and I was more concerned with healing and making sure I got my protein and water in. I had Greek yogurt, tomato soup, refried beans, mashed sweet potato with protein powder, eggs scrambled with cheese. I always had to have at least one shake a day to get my protein in.
  2. It won't allow me to read the article unless I join.
  3. I couldn't have done it. The ride home from the hospital was tough (over an hour away) and I couldn't stand up straight. Walking was uncomfortable for a couple of days. I also was so very tired.
  4. I'm sorry I'm just seeing this now. I was going to use Dr Ilian but my insurance ended up covering it. The more testimonials I read the more I'm sure I would've made a good choice had I needed to head to Mexico.
  5. Well that just sucks. So sorry. Will you do Mexico?
  6. She was only on meds two weeks. I can't imagine it lasting more than four days.
  7. Oh good gawd why is that picture so huge? Sorry! I chose "original".
  8. I really love your hair. I don't think I could cut such gorgeous locks! I chopped about six inches off. Choppy layers. So our stories are so similar. I've had a very easy everything since surgery. Pain, getting in water and food. It's been amazing and has far exceeded my hopes! If you cut you hair you have to send me a pic! You're adorable!
  9. Hey! How'd you get your energy back so fast? So jealous! Oh yeah, the skin, yes! My skin looks "glowy"! Might be sweat though [emoji23]
  10. Get off the scale! Seriously! You are healing and retaining fluid and none of that gain is real. Nearly everyone does this and freaks out. The best advice I was given was to stay off the scale! I'm over six weeks out and steadily losing now. Just heal and focus on protein and water.
  11. I agree! I am so pleasantly surprised.
  12. If you had been on longer than two weeks I'd say taper but you'd just be dragging it out by reintroducing narcs. If you can stand it I'd stay clear. It's the pits, I went through it after just two weeks on them too. Couldn't believe it! That's why I hate them!
  13. Congratulations! I bet that feels wonderful!
  14. Show her by example. Even if she doesn't have surgery, she may start to eat better and be more active. Let her see your success and happiness.
  15. Taking your life back is pretty cool. I'd like to try kayaking again. Been years.
  16. You can try Gas-X but I've mostly heard that walking is the best way to break up the gas. Feel better!
  17. There have been some interesting side effects post op. I care much more about myself. I've cut my hair to my shoulders (I'm sure I kept it long to "hide"). I've had my nails and toes done. I've bought new clothes, perfume, jewelry. I've gone to the dentist and had some cosmetic work done along with a good cleaning. All of this keeps compounding and helping my self esteem. I laugh and smile more. I move more. I'm friendlier. I wasn't expecting any of these side effects!
  18. Aw, didn't mean to get your hopes up about the tea. I haven't touched sugar since two weeks before surgery. If you can sweeten it with equal or something like that then it'd be ok.
  19. Btw I love that Baritastic app! You can set reminders on it to drink and when you can eat it can help you eat slower. It's fun!
  20. All fluids count. Tea, shakes, even popsicles. Baritastic app tracks fluids. You'd have to weigh the popsicle on your food scale to know how many oz of fluid it counts as. I ate them but didn't include them in my fluids because I had no issue getting in water.
  21. They've already checked my vitamins twice and I only had surgery 5/22. I'd ask for a recheck. What can it hurt?
  22. My yeti cold cup was/is invaluable. I bought an ice maker because I love cold water. Unjury protein powder and a small Rubbermaid shaker. I never used my blender. Adult liquid Tylenol
  23. Just be sure you're not running a fever for other reasons, infection most importantly.
