Hello everyone, Warning beware of jealous people in your life. So my now ex but also my daughters father has as I feel always tried to sabotage me. I gained close to 100 pounds in the last 6 years since I've been with him had a baby got super comfortable and let myself go. Well since my surgery and before he was never with my lifestyle change he would bring fast food and candy into the house, he didn't work out with me on a regular basis (and mind u he is athletic and a boxer) there was no genuine encouragement nor support. He was and is a serial cheater. He told a girl he cheated on me with about me getting the surgery before i even had it and just recently told another woman i believed to be a friend but he was sleeping with her too that I had the surgery and now I think i'm better than ppl and they laughed about how I'm still big and my body gone be a mess (I seen the messages) the disrespect is at an all time high. Bottom line is I am better than what they obviously thought of me. This change has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, I'm happy about life again, I see the changes in me mentally, spiritually, and physically. I'm looking forward to the future and learning not to settle or accept anything I'm discovering my worth and now I'm glad I can close that chapter in my life and looking forward to my journey and finding someone new that sees the Goddess in me
down 83 lbs and not stopping

Dr. Krahn and his team were professional and supportive. I stayed overnight in the hospital in my own room and the nursing staff was very attentive. I would definitely refer this hospital and especially the doctor to preform your surgery. I was very nervous but received encouragement and support before surgery and the next thing I know I was in recovery.

The mental challenge is far beyond that of the physical challenge, in my opinion. My insurance required me to do a six-month diet program before they would approve and pay for the surgery. I took that time to re-establish my relationship with food and get myself ready for the mental game (and I lost almost 100 pounds to boot).
Right now, just focus on your Protein and Water. And keep working on that mental game. Once you get that under control, it really isn't as bad as it seems.
    Good luck!

I too had surgery the 2nd and am having kind of a rough time adjusting. I didn't think it was going to be a breeze, but I certainly didn't imagine how challenging it can be.

I did self pay so I had no pre op counseling or classes. I had no nutrition appointments. I did one week of 2 shakes and a meal daily. The last day was liquids.
I didn't have a lot of pain right after. Pain meds definitely helped. Now I have pain in my right side that feels like pressure when I move. I hold my right side when I move or walk. Wish I had an abdominal binder- that would be great!
When I came home the next day I walked over a mile. I was shocked I could do that.
I think mentally I am just sick of broth and sweet shakes. I just want other food. I'm sick of sweet although sugar free Jello, Crystal light and shakes!
I am craving my Peanut Butter on toast, mashed potatoes and would love to just lick a salty french fry. Lol
It's the same monotonous drinks that are getting to me. The thought of another chalky sweet shake or nasty broth make me feel nauseous.
Just remember. "This too shall pass"

I was given the diet but my surgery was moved up to just five days later. I was in so much pain that I stayed in hospital an extra night and I did wonder if not doing the full two weeks was the reason. Live and learn.

I don't understand why a surgeon would remove most of someone s stomach wthout pre op counseling. Seems like a set up for failure. Good that you are here for support.

I'm a part of kaiser's options program as well. I lost 20 pounds throughout the 12-week instructional class. My doctor, Dr. Mun put me on a strict 2 week liquid diet of course I cheated up until the final week then I was strict on myself the final week. I walked a lot immediately post op but I didn't have a lot of gas. The Dr and nurses told me it was because my stomach was truly empty and he didn't have to use as much gas during my procedure as he normally does
My surgery was November 8, 2016

I had my surgery November 2nd 2016. I started my journey back in April which require me to do 12 week classes with Kaiser Permanente so cal. The classes were very helpful & educational to prepare you for surgery. So if you have to take them don't be upset lol. I finished June 29, 2016 i left feeling confident & ready i lost 12lbs in option classes not really dieting just cutting back. When it had gotten closer to surgery I think I was just ready to get it over with rather than being mentally ready for a lifestyle change. Fast forward to surgery day. I was scared just like any normal person would be. But I had came to far to back out.. my surgeon was dr fedorka of fontana ca kaiser. He was awesome his team kept me calm & comfortable. Being rolled to op room was reality no turning back! When they told me to breathe into this air mask i was out then waking up in recovery in so... much pain I screamed to the top of lungs the gas pain for me was no joke. All i can think is wtf did I do to myself. I couldn't keep anything down. I was throwing up every try.. it made me extremely nauseous. I stayed in the hospital 3 days. When I got home it was even worse. Head hunger is a b***h! My family was eating all the foods i love & i was eating broth Jello or fluids i was so miserable. I'm now a week post op & I'm still miserable I miss food ???? i feel i wasn't ready mentally. So to the ppl looking into this surgery or have an upcoming surgery just make sure your ready Mentally! Cuz this is not easy at all

The mental prep is very important but it is also one of those things you continue to learn as you go. If you keep focused on the long term, the short term recovery will pass and you will make it thru.
