liannatx reacted to Womanvsmirror in I see why its so hard to find NO COMPLICATION stories
When i was on the pre-op side i was on the site daily. And always found not just here but on other sites as well, its very easy to locate stories with complications but not as easy to find the one's with out. Now i know why, people just live. When they don't have problems they normally don't have many questions. But i think it does leave a lot of sites very one sided. So even though its early for me i am going to try to post more. Cause so far so good. I stopped taking pain meds 4 days out started driving the same time. the only issue i can say is getting my 64 oz., but its not an issue of pain or nausea , more like poor time management . Ill be going back to work in 2 weeks so i think that i will be very helpful with keeping a schedule, i will update as i go.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. When I asked my doctor when I get my energy from she said the body is an amazing thing don't worry you will get your energy. My doctor is in Tijuana Mexico she's a surgeon of excellence but this I don't agree with. I put in a referral for another doctor in San Diego California where I live. In the meantime I'm going to go ahead and drink a premier shake. I'm feeling kinda weak.

Yesterday I posted a "brag list" of misc. things about me and clearly I offended a few people so for that, I would like to apologize. If you actually read the list, you will see that there is very little that is spectacular on there and I am certain that everyone on this forum could come up with something similar if not FAR BETTER than I can.

The point of my list was that I want to be known as far more than a WLS patient or former fatty. It was not at all intended to be an entry into a pissing match. I am quite positive that some of my attributes listed like "drives like a do^che bag", "likes reality TV", and "runs screaming from spiders" won't get me far in life.

I was trying to inject a bit of humor, but clearly I missed the mark.

So as not to fan the flames in a thread gone horribly bad, I will post this right here.

My "brag" list. Please keep in mind that I have been blessed to be a work from home mom for 18 years giving me lots of extra time to torture my kids by being HYPER involved in their schools. I am adding notes in red for clarity.

This was a HUGE reason I kept my surgery to myself.
I am a mom to two great teenagers.
I have been happily married for 21 years. He deserves a medal, don't you think?
I have a fabulous goldendoodle. She sheds horribly, don't believe the people who say they don't.
I am a 2nd degree black belt and a certified martial arts instructor.
I volunteer at a womens' shelter. A friend needed their services, this is a little pay back.
I play the guitar. My mom insisted on music lessons and we couldn't afford a piano.
    I own a successful business.
I work with autistic children and kids with Down's syndrome. They will let anyone volunteer.
I love Old School Rap and can perform Rapper's Delight in it's entirety. SOBER. Sorority trick. And it annoys my kids.
    I love talking to strangers.
I am the VP of my HOA. No one else would do it.
I am PTA president, Choral Booster's VP and head theater mom at my kids' schools. Helicopter mom.
I love dogs, hate cats, save turtles and run screaming from spiders. I won't flush them either. They might come back up.
I was a beach lifeguard, a sorority girl and an only child. (Explains a lot, huh?) Poking fun at myself.
I Zumba, deep Water fin and ski double blacks. Deep Water finning is an awesome class. Try it! My aunt lived in Vermont so we all skied free.
I drive like a ****** bag even though my vehicle is a minivan because I am always in a hurry. (At least I own it.) Poking fun at myself. I'm a horrible driver.
I hold the door for people and I can recite pi to the 56th digit. I had an autistic student who recited pi all day every day. Everyone in my class could do it.
I used to teach emotionally disturbed kids until the parents drove me nuts. And IEPs. They were the worst.
I was a theater major before I was a psychology major, before I got my degree in communications/psychology and my master's in education. Read that indecisive college kid who racked up a LOT of college debt. Still paying those bills.
I am a brown Mexican but don't speak Spanish. Poking fun.
I am a great cook but a horrible baker. Poking fun.
I love to read and I love reality TV. It's embarrassing to admit the reality TV thing, but I can poke fun at myself...
I drive with the radio off because I enjoy the silence. I talk too much.
I could go on forever but I am boring myself. POKING FUN at myself.

I have a lot more interesting things to talk about over WLS. Why on earth would I make that the definition of me? People can't help but ask about it, I have no desire to be the inspiration of that discussion. It was bad enough that people had to "confess" every extra calorie or missed workout to me while I was losing out of a bizarre "guilt".

I'd rather be any of the above over the former fatty/WLS lady.

Again, my above post was not intended to offend or fan any flames. All I can do is humbly apologize and of course, ask YOU to post your BRAG list. I'd love to hear about YOU.

Just a question to clarify. Why did you stop at half? Were you full at that point? Or at least satisfied? If yes, then I would say everything seems to be the way it should be in terms of restriction and how much you can eat. I think we can all eat if we eat, take a break then eat again. That's what we call grazing.
So, the thing to think about is whether or not to start back up again after a break. If that's what your plan is then everything seems just fine. Nothing to worry about except to make a note to yourself that you can eat more than your plan allow by spacing it out and taking breaks.
Biggest thing I have learned is not to eat until FULL. I eat until I am no longer hungry. That has made a dramatic difference.

I would seriously consider the breasts/arms first because they are much easier recoveries. I am afraid if you do the body lift first, you won't want to go back for the others because of how tough the recovery is!

When we were going through fertility issues, my doc ended up giving me a D&C due to my heavy lining. After that I had a few days of light spotting, then things were "normal" for 4 months or so. Once you get the lining down to a reasonable level, using the provera monthly to give you a withdrawal bleed may work for you.

Ditto on the cold/ice Water. Easiest for me is to drain the pot, put it in the sink, dump a bunch of ice on top and then fill with cold Water from the faucet so it becomes an ice bath from the ice on top of the eggs. Easy peel and no green ring.
I also second the not using too fresh eggs. We have chickens and if I use the eggs that are less than a week old they always stick. After a week doesn't seem to make a difference.

I immediately put cold Water in the pot, de-shell the eggs and then put the eggs back in the Water for a few seconds to ensure all of the shell has come off.

I agree with @@Christinamo7 and my triggers are just like @@AvaFern so I love they both responded and shared.
Thank you both because I'm in the same boat and pre-op until my surgery on July 13th.
I never wanted to have surgery, but I've tried every diet in the book for 25 years. Gained it all back and then some.
    YES I'm a statistic!
When my weight started to affect my health, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high A1C, I decided to make a change because my daughter is only 24 yrs old, I have yet to see her marry or have children and at the rate I'm getting ill, I felt I'd never see those things happen in my lifetime. I was really worried when I saw one of my blood panel results that said my heart was the same as an "86 yr old" and I'm only 49 yrs old.
I'm not doing this surgery to be thin, although that part will be very nice, I'm doing it to live.. live a long healthy life and to enjoy time with my family and friends. Even if this surgery only buys me "time"...what wouldn't a person do to have more lifetime?!

Well I have had my second half for 23 years... so the dating part isn't applicable for me!
I can say that in real life everyday situations people are NOW: dieting, losing weight, working out, lactose intolerant, gluten free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Paleo, Low Carb, etc... so it is a normal thing. If you don't know someone well enough to divulge your surgery, then don't mention it.
By about 2 months you will be able to sit with a wisely chosen plate of food and pick at it, and eat the Protein and no one would be the wiser. No explanation will be necessary. People pay FAR LESS attention to what you are eating than you might think. If you really do get questioned, it is very simple to say you "had a late lunch" or whatever... there is no need to feel like you are lying or hiding something from someone you don't know that well.

Well it's a good thing I'm just drinking Water, because I just spit it out all over my computer screen. Poop out staples? Really? Sleeves growing back? Seriously? Your stomach is NOT a starfish. Lord, forget the education you may or may not get from your bariatric center, some of these statements people have been making are a sad testimony on the general state of basic education in this country.

I think straws are a great tool to get your Water down easily. The only issue with straws I see is that you can drink a lot quickly which early on can mean a little pain, if you don't want yourself.
I accidentally used a straw once eating out, and once I didn't burst into flames and die, I realized it made drinking Water so much easier.

I know plenty of bypass people who CAN consume fat and sugar and who HAVE regained their weight doing so. I also know plenty of sleeve people who dump from eating too much sugar/fat. I am one of them.
I know plenty of bypass AND sleevers who drink through a straw daily and are fine. Same with carbonation and diet soda. I don't have an issue with your opinion, I have an issue when you state your opinion as fact for every patient.
You posted an article where a common person says not to use a straw and a doctor gives them the thumbs up. That's seriously no different than a customer walking into a McD's and saying that their hamburgers are the best in the world and McD's putting up a national ad saying they have been proclaimed the world's best burgers.
Show me a scientific study that says straws give ulcers. Ludicrous.

Sorry to tell you this, but you are the one poorly uninformed. I personally know 3 people that have had bypass and they ALL eat sugar and they ALL drink soda, and they ALL use straws. In fact, one of them is my best friend and I've seen her eat donuts and chocolate cake and cheesecake and LOTS of Cookies while I snack on Protein bars. She eats apple turnovers for Breakfast while I eat crustless bacon and spinach quiche. She drinks sweetened iced tea and regular Coke (every single day) THROUGH A STRAW while I sip my Protein shakes and Water. Her husband drinks beer regularly and eats all the same sugary Desserts that she does. If they were sleeved instead of having bypass, they would have regained all their weight by now, It's their malabsorption that keeps them where they are, certainly not their healthy eating habits. In that sense a sleever has to be way more disciplined in order to be successful. THATS why so many convert to bypass.
