  1. You are right, I'm too busy worrying about everything else that I'm not thinking about way to solve. Weird thing is, the day I started this thread my Daughter brought home a form saying she was one of only 15 girls in the whole 3rd grade class to be invited to participate in a "fun run" for P.E. I do believe this is the Elementary version of "track" She seems real interested and I told her we can start practicing after she gets off the bus!
  2. Don't quote me on this but I think I read somewhere that you can "claim" up to somewhere like $2400-$2500. I'm like meeeefffff.... that's not a lot! But somethings better than nothing and if I can get 2500 that's the difference I saved in staying home vs. Mexico!
  3. Ok guys, I'm at a loss. I need advice, help, encouragement, kick in the a$$, whatever! Surgery was July 30th, I've lost around 44 pounds (yea!) Everything was going GREAT! 2-3 pounds a week, feeling good....yes! Then 8 weeks ago I was switched back to 12 hr night shift for the first time in 18+ months. I've been a royal lazy a$$. I'm just too drained to even think about walking or anything on my 3 day shift and on my days off I'm just catching up on sleep and family time! I know I'm not being the greatest sleever but the real kicker is I have only lost 4 pounds since the middle of Sept! I don't even want to admit what a failure the last 6 weeks have been. But I figured it was time to reach out to my fellow sleevers! Has anyone been in a similar situation? How do you get out of this funk I'm in? Thanks for your time!
  4. Welcome to the site! I live right on the other side of 45 from The Woodlands, so YOU ARE in my backyard! 10 lbs is awesome!! You sound like your on the right track!
  5. Chancie ~ I recently went back to nights 7pm - 7am 3x a week. I was on days for 18 months prior to this. But have been working nights for 5+ years total, that's how I packed on the additional 30 lbs that made me think about WLS in the first place! Your going to start craving carbs a bit more at night. I've noticed that what I am bringing to work is not exactly what I should be! Last week I kicked myself in the rear and starting bringing better Snacks, Edamame Beans, hummas with low fat, low cab, sea salt pita chips, cheese sticks, etc. I don't like to eat a "meal" because it makes me sleepy but 1-2 snacks keep me sane! Hope this helps.
  6. Chancie~ Good for you!! I am so happy for you!! Go buy some more jeans at that price! I myself have a few pairs of 14's waiting in my closet. Size 14 to me is going to be a real big milestone!! I am at 16's now not too far away I am hoping by the end of the holidays if I'm good : ) YOU GO GIRLIE!!
  7. I have been sleeved for just about 3 months (as of the 30th) the total weight I've lost since I started my way through this is 43-45lbs. I've noticed loss in my legs (calfs mostly) arms, face, and rib area. My gut is the worst area, I know I've lost some, but I feel as though my stomach has so much farther to go then the rest of me. It's very frustrating. I'm hoping in the next few months and 20-30lbs that won't be a problem anymore. I know my stomach will never be flat (never was) with all my stretched skin etc. But I am hoping for at least a smaller area of flab!
  8. I am going through the same thing right now- It's making me crazy! I am about halfway there and just today 8 weeks out- I think looking up cute dresses and such is messing with me! I had my 6 wk post op appt last week (it was re-scheduled from a wk before) and Dr. Alanis seemed all fine with my weight loss (10lb) but I am sitting there saying 10 pounds awwwwwww nooooo! I want to be 140-150 NOW!!!
  9. Shanda !! Keep me posted girl! I am so excited for you! Everyone at the hospital is GREAT! Dr. Alanis is FANTASTIC so of course and you'll be in great hands! I am so happy for you!!
  10. I am sorry for your loss. XXXXXX
  11. I wish we had that now!! GREAT IDEA! I asked Dr. Alanis yesterday about complications and he's like it's something to think about, we've been extremely lucky and have not had that situation but it's something you need to possibly prepare for. Ugh. I'm paranoid about leaks so bad I think it is the only thing keeping from going any further! WASa: He's done 850 Sleeves.
  12. I HEAR YA! And another hour just to drive there!
  13. I'm scheduled for Dr. Alanis' seminar for this Saturday! HA! I have also called Dr. Davis as well, they wont tell me what their cash price is over the phone but want me to come over for a seminar first. That's a turn off. I scheduled for a seminar July 1st but probably won't go. I've also spoke with Dr. Nowazardan as well. He sounds real nice, I am pretty much narrowing it down at this point but Alanis is in the top running at this point. Please PM who you've seen !
  14. I love Quiche!! Sounds AWESOME! I used to have a recipe that was my grandmother's for cheese crust Quiche but I lost it awhile ago :001_tt2: but it's probably not WLS friendly anyways!
  15. I am a newbie myself living in the Houston area! Everyone here has inspired me to have the sleeve as well. I just turned 27 3 weeks ago:) I am going to be in a wedding in September and of course I am FREAKED out about looking like a cow in a nice dress! Sound's like we've got a lot in common! :001_tt2: Who are you going through for your procedure?
  16. - Yea, what she said. Entirely!
  17. Mind telling who? I'm looking in the Houston area myself.
  18. I think you are talking about Care Credit (13% interest). And yes you can use the card at Vets! Kinda Cool in my book! But, you can't use it in Mexico. Surgery Loans you can, Cosmi Credit you can. I am approved for some sort of amount through all of them at this point as well as a Personal Loan through Capital One. Care Credit seems like the way to go, but I am on the fence on where I want to go, and don't want to be limited by who takes the card I have. So, I might just go with a Loan pay a bit more in interest but have total choice. So to answer the original poster's question half-way, I have not used any of these cards, but they are out there! Depending on you interest on you Credit Cards now, the surgery cards may be a lower interest rate! But I would take Vegasangel's advise and look into any other "fees" as well- Hope this kinda helps, good luck!
  19. They have hypoallergenic tape, lots of different kinds. I'm sure some of the RN's around here will agree. I am not a RN but do work in the medical field, we use LOTS of tape on the EEG wires and other leads we hook our patients up to, mostly on the tender areas like the face, chest and legs. But, even if you use the most hypoallergenic tape out there you still will get red if you rip it off.
  20. I agree. I am finding lower and lower pricing here in Texas. I am still looking into Mexico for experience reasons mostly. I have found a Drs. here for $11,500 to $12,500 but they have only done 25-100 Sleeves. So it is decision I will have to make. And it is hard. P.S. It only took WASa 26 minutes for that pungent reply, now that's what I call expeditious!
  21. *biting nails*- waiting for WasA
  22. Hope your doing well! Get back to us A.S.A.P!
  23. Pot Head from Oregon? NOOOOO WAYYYYYYY That's shocking! Sorry, I had to!
  24. Wow, I hope mine is that smooth. Thanks for sharing!
  25. Wow- Flab2Fab4Ever you've been through a lot! Just goes to show that even with years of planning the band still fails. I hope that you have a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing!
