piemonade got a reaction from OzRoo in No longer stalled. But eating food is VERY challenging.
eggs and Beans are both very inexpensive, packed with Protein, and easy on the new tummy. I'm 3 weeks out from a sleeve plus hiatal hernia, and these two things are easy on me. Ramen noodles have 0 nutritive value, tons of sodium, and carbs. When your body says NO, you need to listen. Be careful!

I am concerned that you don't seem to be prepared for post-op nutrition and that your home environment may not be a very healthy place.
Why not make an appointment with your NUT and/or see if you can come up with some strategies for making sure you have the nutrition you need and that you have the tools you need to succeed.
Can you talk with your mom about providing you with a cabinet or shelf in the kitchen and refrigerator that is yours, so you can have the foods you need on hand?
Your NUT and/or your post-op food plan would be a good guide for a shopping list.

Yes... I believed this was how it would be for me, as well. I knew the actual incisions would be painful, but I didn't expect the rest. I truly was in the dark and wish I'd been better prepared. Though I'm only a week in! I hope it gets easier, but even if not, I know it was worth it.
Also sooooo very glad that I kept it to myself. My husband, his parents, and my kids (kinda) know. No one else. I only shared that I was having a hernia repaired, and I couldn't be more grateful for that. I don't want to be watched or to "hear it" from the negative worry warts in my life.

Thanks so much for caring, sincerely!
So I'm dehydrated. Blood pressure just 88/57. Had to call in ultrasound just to get a vein for an IV, mine kept blowing out.
On top of that, I have a UTI which caused the fever/chills and abdominal discomfort. I didn't have any pain while urinating so I had no clue.
I had the full workup and CT with contrast, wounds examined, he says it is perfectly fine and healing well.
I have been measuring my fluids and shakes, but as I said, I have been so so so thirsty even so. I need to do my best to drink even more. I had to drink 16 oz of Water with the dye inside and was scared I couldn't. But with minimal discomfort I finished in 40 min. So I've been too scared to keep drinking even when thirsty because I thought I'd vomit or hurt myself. Turns out I need to listen to my body because it is Water starved!
I'm getting antibiotics as ns Fluid, and will go home in a couple hours.
    Thanks again do much.

So, I'm through the surgery. Got to my room at 11:00am. Waking up after surgery was tough. I had severe nausea. They got that under control, and now, I feel very good. No gas pain, very mild pain at the ports in my stomach. Able to get my Water in (4oz) an hr, no problem. What's crazy, is I feel so good compared to what I expected, it's disconcerting. They say the "tap blocks" are basically making the ports, for the most part, numb.
Pastors from my church prayed with me and the surgeon prior to the procedure. My Dr prayed over me as well, how cool.
So far, all is great. One day at a time.

I'm so happy for you! I realized that the more weight I gained, the more friends/hobbies I lost. It wasn't their fault... it was mine. I just crawled into myself because of my insecurities. I'm sad about the years I've wasted, but 1 week in, I'm so glad I didn't waste the rest of my life.
    Enjoy!!!!!

I love you all. Many of us have identical struggles.
I cried reading this. I'm one week in, plus 2 weeks liquid preparation diet.
I thought I couldn't live without Dr Pepper and sugary Venti hot Chai from Starbucks. I sip, sip, sipped one or the other all day every day.
When I started the 2 week diet, I didn't do any "lasts" because I'd been doing "one last pigout" every Sunday before my Monday failed diet started for years. I made this one different.
The shocking thing is... I downed so much caffeine and sugar constantly BECAUSE I felt so tired and run down... then I started the 2 week pre op diet, and I felt amazing. I didn't feel worn out, sick, constantly exhausted anymore after the first 2 days. It hit me...
The stuff I thought was keeping me surviving busy days with five kids? It was actually the stuff that kept me on a constant sugar crash and unable to sleep well at night, so I was exhausted mombie by day.
This week, I found myself wishing I'd truly done a high Protein diet without any sugary drinks years ago. It never would've gotten this baf. But then again, without surgery looming... I probably never would have stuck to it long enough to know.

The good news is that it does get easier to give up favorite foods, but in my case, it forced me to find other things that made me happy. I started with hot bubble baths. Then it was loom knitting. Then Water walking and swimming. I recently discovered that I enjoy classical music. And now I'm playing Pokemon Go. Who knew there was so much fun in the world? @@fatgirlsvelte I was asked to write a list of foods I "couldn't live without". All I could come up with was pizza and calzones (stromboli). My therapist also had me write a list of all the things I wanted to do after weight loss. The second list is much longer (and keeps growing) and makes me realize - HELL YES - I can live HAPPILY without pizza and calzones! There's healthier alternatives for most foods we "shouldn't eat"! You're going to be a great success!

I am 8 months post op and 19 pounds away from goal and a "normal" BMI.
I've been very excited lately with my changes and have been coming out socially more then ever. My life since the sleeve has been work, gym, walk and home. I would host dinner parties occasionally but only for close family and friends. I have recently been accepting invites to parties and outings because the shame is gone. I now can hold my head up and feel comfortable where ever I go. It really feels good to feel normal

    One week in!
I'm on Nexium for acid now, and it has helped a lot. I don't get pain every time I swallow anymore.
I started at 242 three weeks ago. I was at 233.8 on surgery day. Today, I am 224.6. That's a crazy 17.4 pounds in 3 weeks.
That's all the motivation I need to keep choking down Isopure zero carb.
I do feel you on the Water @@MightyMittenMimi though. I feel thirsty all the time, but anything more than a sip starts me belching and uncomfortable. I just want to chug down a bottle of Water one time.
I did cry today, though. This is really hard.

I am really glad you had a great experience. But yours is the experience I had been led to believe that I would have, and when it was nothing like that, I have to admit that it hit me pretty hard. I am definitely doing much better now, but I felt really mislead because I wasn't warned of other difficult circumstances that might arise as a result of the surgery. I certainly don't think that my experience is the "gold standard", but I really don't want pre-ops to assume that everything is going to be ideal. I wish everyone could have a recovery without difficulties, but it's just not going to work that way for some. Thanks for your comment; it's inspiring! I hope the rest of your journey is great, too!

    Everyone doing ok?
The pain from incisions isn't too bad... kind of like a bad sunburn. What's bothering me at the moment is gas pain and nausea. Walking helped me start burping, but it's still there.
I'm having thoughts that I shouldn't have done this! It's silly because it's not like I can go back and change my mind now, but I'm feeling overwhelmed.
I don't want to eat, but I think that's normal.
I'm doing really well as far as the medical team is concerned, and I get to go home today. I think I'll be able to sleep better there.
    How are you all?
