Amy, I am in the same boat too. I've only had 1 csection. I have surgery the 12th so I will keep you updated if your after me if you want. I think the sleeve will be easier.

I have very little pain or discomfort with my c-sections . I have the sleeve yesterday the 19th, and the gas pain was horrible. The 5 small cuts are not causing me much discomfort but the gas on day 1 and most of day 2 was killer. Now that the gas has passed I'm having some stomach spasms but they are tolerable

I had once c-section and two other open surgeries and the sleeve was a breeze compared to any of those.

I agree with most of the above post. I used the pain meds after the sleeve for maybe 24 hours. I remember after both C-sections I had the meds for a couple more days. So much easier to get out of bed and walk after the sleeve also.

my sleeve was MUCH easier than either of my C sections. the soreness in my stomach the first couple of days reminded me of my C sections, but it was more soreness than pain. i really had no pain with the sleeve. as a matter of fact, the sleeve was the easiest surgery i have had.

I would say about the same, but easier to get out of bed with the sleeve on the first day.
Now mind you, TMI WARNING, I insisted on having sex with my husband ten days after my c-section. So that might give you a hint on how fast I recover.

Both of my c-sections were worse than sleeve. Less pain with sleeve and no midnight feelings. My c-section scare still annoys me after 6 years!

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I'm trying to follow all the rules now to make the transition easier. I drink a cup of green tea in the AM and then just add Water to the cup all day. It has a very slight tea flavor by the end of the day, but it is enough for me. I cannot stand the taste of plain Water and do not enjoy Crystal Light much either.
FYI - Jade Citrus Mint from Teavana is my tea of choice.

Good for you! If you love spinning and your body is feeling good because you're going 5 times a week, who cares about 4 measly little pounds? I can gain and lose that from the first to last day of my period!!!
You're eating healthy, you're super active, and you're drinking lots of water... That 4 pounds won't hang on forever and even if it does, your body will start to change! A previous poster said that your body is reacting to a change in routine and that's probably exactly right. And changes can have an effect for up to 6 weeks!! Just keep doing what makes you feel good and the positive difference will come!

I completely agree with this. Please seek a therapist. During my eval, the psychiatrist gave me the name of someone and urged me to call her immediately if I felt my food issues were going to sabotage my sleeve.
I have also been urged to attend support groups - and I would suggest you do the same.
Of course, take my advice with a grain of salt, as I have not been through it yet. But this is the information that I was given on my journey so far.
I wish you all the luck in the world. I know you can pull through this and get back on track if you try.

I personally suffer from a binge eating disorder, so I very actively work with an eating disorder program while I am on this journey. It is very worth looking into why you are eating what you are eating. Good luck!

Is anyone on NJ Direct? I'm a teacher (considered a state employee) and starting to panic about the approval process. My doc seems to think it won't be a problem, but I'm a worrywart by nature. They will put in for approval on Monday after my 2nd nutritionist visit, and I'm hoping to hear soon afterwards. Otherwise I'll be stressing - and I'm definitely a stress eater - total irony!

@@heather5565 - lol, well now... you are my new best friend! I think I'll just invite you along with me everywhere I go to make me feel good about myself. I must say, you are looking pretty damned healthy yourself!
And I mean that in the least stalker/creeper way possible.

I just happened to see this, and didn't notice an answer - generally accepted answer is "no" according to the surgeon I talked to, water/liquids quickly pass through the sleeve, which is why there is the prohibition on drinking and eating and waiting 20-30 minutes after the meal to drink again.

I get this can be frustrating and irritating, but try not to perceive it as lack of support. Having a weight loss surgery is a huge step which changes your entire life, but your family didn't have the surgery - you did. It's great to have friends and family members who understand how hard this process is and who are willing to change their lifestyle with you, but I don't think that's the usual case.
Maybe you should just ask your family to be slightly more sensitive and understanding - explain them how you feel. Tell them you need your own kitchen cupboard and fridge shelf so you're not tempted by unhealthy meals they bring into the house. Tell them if they want to buy fast food or sweets, you would like them to pick it up themselves. When I used to diet (I was still living with my parents back then), I knew one way to make them eat healthier food was to cook it myself for all of us. That way I limited the number of temptations around me.
And most importantly, come up with some ideas for family activities that don't involve food, so you can all enjoy it and you don't feel left out. Unfortunately food is a huge part of social and family life, but it's not the only one - if you can't make them give up eating during your family time, meet them half way and get them do something where food is just one of the many things to enjoy. That way you can focus on other aspects and stiil have a great time.

I didn't realize how much money my husband and I were spending on fast food/restaurants BEFORE surgery!! We've saved so much and now since I eat so little...things are lasting alot longer!!! Guess I'll just have to spend my money on other things like shoes n clothes! ????

Is anyone else on a pre-op diet yet? I called my surgeon's office today and they have my psych eval and my endo sent over a letter of medical necessity. My GP assured me they would send one over today too. Hoping to get insurance approval soon! Getting excited! I am not going to tell my kids until my approval comes through and I know it is definite -

I am tentatively scheduled for March 7th.
I have had my initial consult, 1st visit with nutritionist, hospital seminar (required at my hospital), 1st cardiologist appt done, psych eval done, 1st gastro appt done. I still have to do my stress test and echocardiogram, endoscopy, pulmonologist appt (this coming week) and 1 more nutritionst appt. Insurance approval hasn't been given yet either, but my Doc sees no problems since I meet the qualifications.
