It isn't a race. You're not going to be doing yourself any favors comparing yourself to others. Your body will lose at the pace it decides, and you're doing just fine. 8 pounds in a month is a great loss. If it takes you 16 months instead of 12 is that really that bad in the grand scheme of things?
Continue to track your food, get in enough Protein, drink your Water, watch your calories and moderate activity/exercise. That's really the key to all of it.
And I've read over and over again, anyone coming from a Lapband to a sleeve is going to lose slower anyway. Not sure why, but it seems to be very common.
Also, slower loss means it's giving your body and your skin more time to adjust and may result in better overall results in the loose skin department.

Let me add my 2 cents here. Anything worth having is worth making time for. Although supplementation is great, getting quality Protein in is key. I hate cooking by all means. Therefore, I suck it up and do all of my meal prep on Sundays. I'm 6 years out. Started at 385 and now fluctuate between 173 and 177. I'm currently working to hit my goal of 160. I attribute it to ensuring I get quality Protein in and having something accessible throughout the day. Plus I bust my tail at the gym. Do I indulge? Hell yeah. On the weekends I may go to IHOP with kids or enjoy a naughty meal at the movies with the family. Life is about balance and finding what works. When I gained 20lbs at year 5 I knew I was at the point where I had to put in work just like my thinner peers. Surgery is a tool not the solution. You over eat, you gain. You under eat, you stall. Also remember, consistency. If you're looking for that over night weight loss that you had in beginning, hang it up. It's time to go to work. Be consistent, throw the scale out and trust the process. You will see the results.

My mom is 73 and has a 2nd meeting with the surgeon in July. She has a band that was placed in 2006 which has failed.
If she can get the weight off and have 10 years quality of life it is well worth it. She has bad knees from the weight but otherwise is in good health.

How old do the women in her gene pool live? Realistically, if I live past 70 I'd be shocked. The guys in my family die from 52-65. But the women live close to 100. So think about it, if she has 21 more years or so based on a good guesstimate of family member longevity, it might be a better way to spend the next quarter of a century, as opposed to being stuck on one of those scooters.

Absolutely wrong and false. We are RNs first regardless of how you feel about insurance company's. These programs are offered to keep people out of the ER and Hospital.
Feel how you do with Insurance but I took my RN oath to help people.

That's too bad you're looking at the insurance company as the enemy rather than the RN as a helpful benefit.

I retired from BCBS after 29 years and currently work for UHC. Nurse case managers are there to help you navigate all your requirements and ensure you know what to expect...and get all the proper follow-up care......They can answer all the questions you have about the pre and post op diets......I know you hear people say all the time that insurance companies are just trying to find reasons to not pay claims...............but it just isn't true. Now they do absolutely want to reduce the costs, but how they do that is by trying to ensure patients are educated and providing them with information that will help them make educated and informed decisions.....and hopefully prevent unnecessary cost due to a patients not being properly educated.
I would absolutely take them up on the offer.

I have UHC Choice plus and when I started looking into VSG it was one of my plan requirements for approval to enroll in the Optum Health program and engage with the RN they assigned me. So I didn't even think I had a choice and I really wanted to dot all my i's cross my t's etc.
That said, the RN I've engaged with has been wonderful and helpful. For example, she explicitly laid out the steps to insurance approval for me and emailed me a copy. This was a huge assist since my surgery program has their own set of requirements and it was very confusing.
We spoke, I believe, 3 times total and each time I felt like I got something out of it.
