This isn't about you, it's about her. She had surgery, she's gained some of her weight back. Imagine how that feels. She's probably afraid that you will be more successful than she was - which isn't fair, is it?
One thing I know from reading a lot of posts on this board - nobody feels worse about themselves than a WLS patient who has gained some of their weight back. She's probably convinced herself that you will be way, way more successful than she was, which makes her feel even worse about her gain.
I'm so sorry about this. I'm sure there isn't anyone you'd rather share your journey with than your best friend.

She seems maybe jealous of her surgery that was not a success.

Hmm, I haven't heard of this, but thank you for asking and bringing the need for a medical ID to my attention. A quick google search brought up this: https://www.laurenshope.com/what-to-engrave-on-your-medical-alert-jewelry
    To quote the relevant part:
    GASTRIC BYPASS
If you have had gastric bypass surgery or lap band surgery it is important to wear a medical ID Bracelet to alert emergency technicians that you cannot have a blind NG tube inserted. Here is what we recommend for gastric bypass patients.
    Jane Doe
Gastric ByPass 1/12 (month and year of your surgery)
    No Blind NG Tube
    No NSAIDS/ No Sugars

You are very lucky indeed. I could probably function...slowly, but my patients and I are probably all better off if I stay home and bit longer.

There's a host of great articles out there. Google "bariatric divorce". It happened to me in my first marriage, not that I had WLS, but I did lose 90 pounds. It was a lot of things, but when one loses weight, one changes other things besides a dress size: attitudes, tastes, expectations, patience, and more. Jealous feelings come up.
I have read stats about when a heavy couple meets and marries, then one loses a lot, the divorce rate skyrockets. Like 80% fall apart. If you are worried about it, get to a counselor. Now. Don't wait.

I'm taking 3 weeks. I'm 9 days post op and I can't imagine going back any sooner. But everyone is different physically and financially. .if I could afford more, I'd take it.

I took two weeks as well. I was tired when I got home. When I returned, no one even questioned why I was out. They all thought I was on vacation. I had no pain and felt great. And feeling better every day. Good luck!

Hello everyone! I would like to share how great it is to finally see the hardwork and sacrifices I've accomplished. My HW is 230lbs, SW is 215 and I am currently 173 lbs. I will say this that it is not an easy way out! It is so hard to give up everything that you were accustom too. But having healthy issues like Diabetes... 300-400 blood sugar everyday, shortness of breath and even time to spend with my kids are so limited.. That is why, I decided to change, to go with my WLS! It is the best decision I have ever made in my life. My husband along with my children are very happy to see me live longer! So for you out there who are still deciding to do WLS, I say, DO IT!!! Everything will be okay! I have attached my before and after pics! God bless you all! Have a wonderful Christmas!!!

I had my band for nearly 11 years when I had it removed and converted to bypass in September 2014. I am at goal weight now for the first time in my life. The bypass has been absolutely fantastic for me and sooooo much different and better than the band. I guess it doesn't work for everyone, but overall is much more successful than the band. Good luck. It was a great decision for me!

I was off for an entire week, including the weekend. However, the following week I did half days. I'm a special education teacher, I could have done a whole day, but I was tired. I needed some rest. Being in the office may be seated a bit longer than I am. I was discharged the next day after surgery. I came home and there was no need to take pain meds. I took one dose of Tylenol the day I came home. There was not a pain meds prescription given to me. I full week could be done.

I got my surgery on the 15th and I'm scheduled to return to work on the 23rd (desk-job) but I don't think I'll be able to, yet. I wish I took 10-14 days off.

Only my husband and my mom, who will be watching my kids. I feel like if I tell other family and friends before the surgery I will feel like I have to "convince"them that it's the right thing for me. Plus most of my family is pretty thin and aren't very understanding about weight issues. The last thing I want is negative reactions to my decision or them suggesting I give diet and exercise a try first...as if I haven't.
