Love hearing everyone else experiences! If I had been on the 6 month or more pre op program I prob wouldn't be cheating it but I'm self pay so I don't have the insurance requirements and will just start my pre op liquid on Wednesday. I did notice that I got my regular burrito tonight and couldn't eat it all. Also didn't eat any chips. Weird but great!

Start pre op liquid diet on Wednesday the 20th and I told
Hubby that this weekend don't even bother picking a place to eat or a meal for me to cook at home as we will be having all my favorites! ???????????? no big binges or anything just gotta make sure I get pizza one last time etc because hopefully those bad choices will be gone soon!!!
Anyone else find satisfaction in one last hurrah with food? I can't wait to eat a burrito from Moe's!

I have definitely noticed that when I eat I'm not eating nearly as much as I once was. Am I am starting to notice that times I think man I need a snack that I really am not hungry at all. If I have to eat a couple more meals before starting liquids, I figure it may as well be my favs

@@Mrs_O Yeah, you totally know when you need it out. Read up on the symptoms so you know what they are when you have them. And go to the hospital. I was stupid and writhed on my bathroom floor for about 6 hours. If I had gone to the hospital I would've gotten morphine and the pain would have been gone, and maybe even the gallbladder!!

It's been my lucky week. Well kind of. Didn't win that hugebpiwerball but I did win $100 on a scratch off and then $100 on the championship game. Maybe I'll be lucky again!!!

thanks all. i have nice reclining options once i get home thankfully and i am truly leaning towards that option for the one night hotel stay as well. i don't think it will be quite as comfy to just prop up with more pillows on the bed. as soon as i can get comfortable in my temperpedic again i will be happy!!!

fixing to start pre-op diet and we are allowed unsweetened or artificially sweetened Decaf coffee or tea. never really been one to drink coffee for the caffeine rush. just drink it mostly for the taste. my new fav is decaf black coffee with the sugar free caramel macchiato creamer!!!! yum

i have two boys age 7 and 3. the 3 yr old doesn't understand anything and i am sure he will miss me for the one night i will be gone but he has stayed with my parents overnight plenty and this time my mom will be with me so daddy can be home with them and get our oldest off to school the next morning.
our 7 yr old is fully aware of what is happening. he had some questions which i tried to answer fully for him and he seems good to go now. he at first asked if mommy was going to die. once i explained everything to him he seems to not be worried at all now. he is happy that mommy will be able to play with them for longer than 5 mins without getting our of breath!

i have also seen a lot of people say that porting their food in the little 2 ounce ramekins with the lids really helps!

I really like the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, especially while on Clear Liquids. Each packet has 15 grams of Protein. They gave them to me while I was in the hospital recovering. I used them over crushed ice, undiluted initially. You can also drink them diluted with Water.< /p>

So, I had my surgery Wednesday in the morning and left the surgery center Wednesday around 6:00 p.m. I have been so tired and having to keep fluids in and get up every few hours and walk around has been really a serious job. You all give me so much hope. I have no clue as to how you all were able to consume 64 oz per day--I cannot do it yet. And I haven't been able to get 50 grams of Protein in either. Every day is getting better. But my first day home I cursed out my husband twice--and had a wicked attitude. I have since apologized and I am learning that I do not do so well with pain. I am off heavy pain medication now and am just taking ex strength tylenol as needed--and that seems to do the trick. I wanted to know if any of you made your own smoothies (not store bought) and what you put in them.
Even though this has been so physically painful, I am so glad that I allowed medical professionals (surgeon) to help me with my medical problem (obesity) and I am forever grateful that there is a community of those who have walked this journey before me. Thank you everyone for sharing your paths.

Actually that is great for me. I'm barely at 40 bmi. And the sleep study is one of my concerns. I do t want to have to travel 3 hours back and forth to bham for 14 days. I'm also a college student and I work so time is key for me.

I used Dr. Schmitt. He was awesome!!!!

Also from Alabama! surgery scheduled for 1/27 in Bham with Dr Schmitt! so excited! and WAR EAGLE (sorry not sorry) -although i will state that i am no Bama hater. love keeping it in the state!!!

I'm set for surgery with Dr Schmitt on the 27th! I loved his staff and him and know he and Dr Miles are very nice Christian men and they have an excellent record with the sleeve!!!

It's natural to be nervous and there are pros and cons. The very high BMI people, my practice does in a hospital but I think that had alot to do with the weight capacity of their tables etc. They also do that if the patient wants it, but their default is the surgical center which is right next door to the hospital. One of the pros to the surgical center is they don't have sick people there - ha!
Anyway, sounds like your arrangement is great - mine was a center of excellence with a great track record and it sounds like yours is too.
Because mine was outpatient, but I did stay the night, they loaded me up with IV fluids that morning because for MOST people dehydration is one of their biggest "risks" in the early weeks post op and getting off to a very hydrated start maybe helped.

That is awesome! It's great that she turned out to be so supportive AND offer up the money! I remember how much I dreaded telling my parents about my decision to have WLS, but then they ended up being all for it and proud of me! I love it when our loved ones surprise us!

Hi! i am also starting this process and am self pay. I am in Alabama and mine will cost me apron $12,000 out of pocket but that covers everything and includes complication insurance. My surgeon will be Dr Lee Schmitt at Alabama Weight Loss Surgery in Birmingham AL. I am financing my cost. upon looking into the process there was a link given to me by the doc for Prosper Healthcare Lending and it looks like it will cost me somewhere around $250 a month in payments. small price to pay to get my life back!!!
I did not personally consider Mexico because while my husband is supportive, i am very close with my mother and she is already having a hard time with this idea and i think the idea of Mexico, while safe, would push her over the edge! check out LaurasVSGtube on youtube. i love her videos and she gives the info of her doc in TJ Mexico!

I'm the 27th! Getting so excited. Go for my NUT class, last doc visit and start pre-op diet all on the 20th.
