I like nutritional yeast because it makes salad taste like bread. Try mixing it in a vinaigrette, or sprinkle it anywhere you would Parmesan. It is low volume Protein. 2 tablespoons gives you 6g ish. Also, it is my understanding that it is grown on molasses, which is high in Iron. The yeast breaks down much of it to a very mild and digestible form. I hope this is true...
Bragg's brand is at most supermarkets, but you can find it much cheaper at a health food store that sells bulk items.
    I love the stuff.

So, I think there are some great spiritual gifts in WLS. One of the things I see folks saying around here is "whaaaa! I can't have ----- any more."
Well, no. But you CAN discover a whole new world. Take in these new gifts. Don't miss it!
That being said, I know there are some really great, on plan, comfort foods that really hit the spot. I found a new treat tonight, and I'm gonna share!
Stoffers Spinach Souffle. It's warm, easy going down. 5g Protein and 140 calories per serving. I added a quarter ounce of nutritional yeast and doubled the protein for 28 more calories.
    Now you.... What's your comfort?

I had lots of pain and nausea and ended up back in the hospital in shock like state. But I'm not typical, I guess. However, I felt much better in less than a week - two weeks after surgery - I hiked in the mountains.
Think of it this way: if it's the worst pain you can imagine - can you tough it out for a week? That's really all it was, and the narcotics helped - very yes.

Beef goes down hard for me. Two bites and there is a rock in my belly. And I'm only slightly happier with chicken and pork. Fish is good, especially undercooked salmon. eggs are hating me.
Tonight, at a fancy restaurant, there was a chicken liver appetizer. I thought, mmmmm, that's like mostly pre chewed food already! They were cooked perfectly, not overdone, and they went down easy. Stayed down. I chewed and swallowed 3 lovely, lightly fried chicken livers. I didn't even feel overfull! At 57 cal each - fried - and 7g Protein each, worse choices have been made.
Check it out! It was good.
(8.5 weeks post op, me, and almost 30 pounds down, feeling really good.)

Nutritional yeast is a godsend. It makes salad taste like bread. Sprinkle it on like Parmesan cheese and enjoy the hit of Iron and Protein. Any health food store will have it in bulk foods. It is raised commonly on molasses, which is high in iron, but the little buggers digest some of this iron which makes it easier for people to digest. Also it has thiamine, necessary for preventing cognitive impairment, especially in RNY patients. Did I mention it makes everything taste like bread?

Slow down... This is going to be okay. Shhhhh... There we go.
    Okay?
Let's start with "week three sucks." That seems to be universal.
You are healing. Shit's still wacky. Prioritize.
    Get Water in first.
    Then think Protein.
chicken at this stage should be a slurry. Wet not dry.
    And week three sucks.
When you irritate that stomach, its likely to swell and your volumes will be different.
My hub has band, I have sleeve. We are totally different. He is 6 or so years into this, I'm new.
Our priority is water, Vitamins, protein, and then calories and not vomiting as distant goals.
Keep in mind, you need extremely little food to live. You could drink shakes only for the rest of your life and survive well. There is no hurry to "get back to normal". Just chill.
    And week 3 sucks.

I'm new to sleeve but I have been working on a high Protein cookbook of micromeals for years. How does cheesecake sound? 110 cal per slice and 14g protein and cheap and easy to make. (7 bucks worth of ingredients or so, makes 6-8 portions) and SOFT to eat. I'm giving this from memory, so I'm thinking this is right. Into a blender goes 1scoop chocolate Protein Powder, 2 fat free cottage cheese bricks, 1 c. Fat free cottage cheese, 1 c egg beaters or egg whites, flavoring (can be vanilla, butter nut, almond, etc) a pinch of salt, 1 T. Stevia and 8 packets splenda, 1/4 c. Cocoa powder. Blend completely, scraping down the sides of the blender. Bake in a parchment lined springform pan at 325 until just set. Cool. Enjoy. It's great to have a diet cheesecake on plan for Breakfast. Just sayin'

Today at work, people really noticed the weight loss. 40 pounds down and I'm in a bit of baggy clothes. See, you just gotta lose 15-20% of your body weight and, bazingah!, the start to ask, "Are you losing weight?"
    Um, yeah.

Sleeved 12/1 - down 46 lbs since surgery and 58 overall.
Getting all of my Protein in from food, haven't had to supplement with shakes lately! I do get extremely hungry and no, it's not head hunger or acid. I'm HUNGRY every 2 hours. I keep it low carb. Lots of meat and cheese.. No complaints from me there. There hasn't been any food I can't tolerate. I do feel like I can eat more than I should but at the end of the day when I look at My Fitness Pal I'm still hovering around 1000-1100 calories, which my doctor says is great. I drink here and there and it hasn't slowed my weight loss any and the world hasn't ended. I'm consistently losing about 2-3 lbs a week. I started in a size 16, and as of a couple days ago I could fit back in to my size 12s. REALLY happy with my recovery and progress!

My first big weight loss (I lost 90 pounds a few years ago - gained much of it back - sleeved in early December 2015) had a similar thing.
I said to my husband at the time (I guess THAT gives away the ending), "Hey, why don't you say I'm looking good?"
He said, "I don't want to be disingenuous..."
And there it was. Like many men, Mr. B had a type. When I wasn't that type any more, he was under no obligation to lie and say he fancied that new me. He didn't. There's not fault there, as I'm the one who changed.
I've met and married someone else, and I met this fellow at the low point of my weight, and gain 50 pounds while our relationship progressed, then I was sleeved. As I loose now, I have all kinds of support from Mr. L - as the thinner girl is HIS type.
No doubt - massive weightloss is something that changes us on many levels. This surgery is also a changer: I am a super sniffer now, and I don't get hangry like I used to. When did I start liking hot sauce? No, thanks, I DON'T want eggs any more - really. I wear different clothes and feel different things about what I see around me as hormones flow in new and interesting ways. People react to me differently. I'm in a Sci-Fi business and people who wouldn't take my calls at near 300 pounds think I'm so very interesting now....

At 8 weeks, I was forgetting I had had surgery. Most of the time (I hit 3 months on Tuesday), I feel like I'm 92% healed. I walk all day as a teacher, and from time to time my tummy let's me know if I have overdone things. Feeling like I feel today, 12 weeks out, I would pounce on taking a trip like this!

I used to think I was a person who coped with cold well. The post surgery chills are different. It's like you get a cool breeze at your back, then you just plummet. The chill and recovery time used to be equal before surgery. Now it takes ten times longer to come back to normal than pre surgery. It's the weirdest thing.

I had such a different reaction to this stage. So let me gently turn your head here. Less than ten days after my surgery, I was back at work at the staff Christmas Breakfast. I wouldn't and really couldn't eat any of those delicious foods I loved. I marveled at the oversized platters of food. I thought, look at how much food is on those plates?!
I realized that I would never be able to eat like that again. Ever, and watching the food get shoveled into the eaters, I knew I never wanted to.
So, what I'm saying is that there is a spiritual gift here. Don't miss it. You have a lifetime of watching other people eat too much ahead of you. You are going to feel so very different about it from now on. You are going to marvel at how little you need to survive and how the tool makes you better at this crazy game. Sit down at the table and sit in judgement, if that's what it takes. Because you can.
    You got this handled.

You make a great point. It's not about YOU, it's about him... Whereas the Fat Admirers are looking out from themselves, you husband is having internal conflict. My husband advises a long stretch of public display of affections. Ego strokes. I think this advice may be a little self serving, but he's not wrong.
