I had a sleeve, not RNY, at age 55 last year. I lost hair starting at month 4 but it started coming back around month 9. I have fairly thick hair so it wasn't noticeable. I have lots of excess skin - like catwoman7, but had my first plastics consult about two weeks ago. I'll likely have a panni and Tummy Tuck over the summer. The batwings, for me, are the worst. For a few months my face and neck looked really saggy, but that changed at about a year out. I look 15 years younger - no one believes I'm 56 now. I still have another 15 to go. Best of luck.

I want to add that skinny is not the only form of beauty!!!! Beauty comes in ALL SHAPES AND SIZES. beauty comes from self love and worth and respect. Respect your body. If you feel like it’s where it feels healthy and good, than wonderful!! Of course not all people are meant to look like what we see on the media.

You look beautiful to me. The important thing is that you are taking good care of yourself both inside and out.

And another thing about this site.. some things you have to take with a grain of sand. . I think people read these threads with no regard, quick to want to correct and dictate. Knowing damn well we have all crossed these hurdles one way or a other.

Why do you think you gained the weight? And why would you think a revision would be the answer? Sure, you may lose again with a revision, but it will come right back if you repeat the same behaviors that caused you to gain in the first place.
    Just keeping it real.

I am right where you are as far as weight loss since the surgery. I lost 42 before the surgery on a 3-month low carb diet followed by a 2-week liquid diet, all required by my doctor. I have lost 37 since the surgery, and I am very pleased that I just crossed over from morbidly obese to just plain obese. If I have a stall in weight loss, I think a day or two of the high Protein liquid diet would probably help me get past it.

And in response to some other comments on here, I have to add that I don’t perceive the majority of what I see on here as bragging. As Walter Brennan used to say on tv: “No brag. Just fact.” We are simply sharing facts about how we are doing.

Thank you. I'll be starting in January but until then, I'll be kickboxing.
Yeah, I know the feeling. I started at 319 and now, I'm at 281, down 38 pounds. I'm quite concerned that I'm not losing it quickly enough... especially since my clothes aren't feeling as loose as everyone here brags about. I haven't even been down a size yet.
Because my surgeon's office told me that by my three month appointment in one week, I need to be down 60 pounds, meaning that I need to lose 22 pounds in the next week to hit that target. I'm so scared that it's not going right.
Precisely, and it aggravates me that the nurse from my surgeon's office has brushed me off. In nine days, I'll be three months post op. Yes, I do weigh myself daily and I do so because it puts so many data points on that graph. It also gives more definition to the graph and more insight about trends when meshed with nutritional data. If the nurse won't help me, then I need to rely more on this data to self-correct.
Well, if that's what some people want to do, more power to them but I want to make sure that my surgery is a success and if I'm not hitting targets and I'm seeing people with a higher degree of success than I, I want to try to correct my course and make sure that I'm doing everything I can to make this surgery a success.

i fell into that category of "complaining" as u call it. but in reality I was being doubtful that I wasnt doing something correct or wondering what the normal is. Im not an expert at this type of surgery and everyone is different. I more so am trying to figure out "MY" normal. so I have come on various threads here "complaining" that my weight loss is slow in the beginning and some seasoned "losers" have given me pretty good advice. Im a little over 3 months post op vsg and 75# down and Im not freaking out anymore when I have a stall for 2-3 weeks. I dont use my scale as Gospel anymore but a guide. I look at all the NSVs and feel good about myself. This is a learning process both mentally and physically.

Oh yes, I used to read all this people saying its like its their mind that has been changed not just their stomach and many other things, and I said this will not be me the way I love my food... I can't say were I will be in the future, but right now.. only 3 months on I am a NEW person, to drive to macdonalds everyones ordering, I could have ordered a burger and ate just the pattie, but I did not want to.. I sat while everyone was ordering, it smelt good. But I just did not want it.. I am the same person who many times ended up in a macdonalds drive through ordering like 3 meals just for me. I do not know who I am right now lol but I am going with the flow

I also would wonder if there are some underlying worries hidden in the " will I ever be able to eat a sandwich" Whats a piece of bread? Why such a huge importants over the sandwich that seems to be causing you so much worry? For me my worry about foods were more about being scared of the unknown and the change to come. Now at only 3 months post I could not care less about those foods I was thinking I might miss , now I am like.. a sandwhich? who cares, Ive lost 50lbs lol were as before I was literaly thinking how will I cope not eating abc*Insert my old favs i dont even think about now.

The sleeve is a suitable option for your medical conditions. Many veteran sleevers on here have had those conditions completely reversed by the sleeve.
Now about food, you are sounding worried about consuming quantities of food...which means you need to examine just HOW important is a sandwich after all?
Advice can be given to give equal weight to both scenarios - #1 - Protein, then veg, then what will fit or #2 - everything but smaller amounts. Your body will need the correct grams of protein to maintain muscle and keep your metabolism fired up or you will suffer deficiencies during the weight loss phase.
You have to decide how important the food is to you - more than your health? You will be able to have a small amount of most foods - but not until you are closer to maintenance. Some people never tolerate rice, bread, or Pasta and consider them inferior nutrition for a bariatric program. Restriction is the whole idea of the surgery, it isn't the hard part. The hard part is your relationship with food.
