bread and Pasta and such have a psychological effect on me as well as a physical one. I didn't become overweight eating Protein and vegetables! These are the foods I turn to for emotional comfort and I have to deal with that. It is better for me to abstain completely and just be creative in learning to eat in a way that satisfies and does not involve grains and sugars.

Why start eating carbs again at all? That seems counterproductive.
(In my humble opinion, of course.)

lindabalseca reacted to Jess55 in ? For Band to Sleeve revisions....
I had a band to sleeve revision almost 6 months ago. As for pain post op, I was in less pain, though the band was my first ever surgery. I took pain meds for three days then. For the sleeve I didn't take anything after the first night. Although I did stay in the hospital 2 days due to nausea. And I did have some nausea weeks 2-4.

As for restriction. It is so much different than with the band. A few bites with the band and I'd be in pain, but then I could eat anything. I never found my sweet spot. With the sleeve, no pain from being stuck, just an uncomfortable feeling if I ate to much. I'm much happier with the sleeve

I'm a slow loser, not terribly, but slower than a lot of people on here. Like I said I'm almost 6 months out and including my pre op im just under 50lbs lost.

Would I go back to the band, hell no, or would I ever recommend it to anyone, no way. The band is horrible and I don't know why it's still used. Do I regret having the sleeve, not a bit, only that I didn't revise sooner, maybe I would not have gained back everything I lost with the band [emoji20].

The best thing to do is promote fast regrowth. That come from exceeding your Protein goals, keeping your Vitamin levels correct, and good health in general.
Years ago, when I wanted to increase my Hair growth I would always added extra protein to my diet and that would make my hair grow like wildfire

Hi! I was sleeved on April 19th! Congrats on your 57lb loss! I am only at 44 so that's great! As far as the Hair loss have you started losing hair? I too do the 10,000 mcg of Biotin and knock on wood haven't lost any as of yet. I have heard that the slower u lose the weight the better of a shot you have to not lose much. My hair is thin to begin with so I was really worried. Hoping things stay the same where this is concerned!

Hey Daniel! I was sleeved on 8/2 and I've had a similar experience as you. One thing I've noticed in my experience, is that feeling full doesn't feel the same as before surgery. I have to really pay attention to my stomach when I eat. It seems to be closer to the sternum that I feel a pressure that is my full feeling. Plus, it is VERY important to eat slow. Our bodies, even before surgery, take time to register that they are full. If we eat too fast, we will likely eat too much before the sensation hits. At least that's my experience. And I'll second what dreamingsmall said. It really does make a huge difference. Hope this helps build up your confidence.

I sleep on my left side. At first it was hard to turn so I slept on my back because of the pain but I'm 3 weeks out so that pain is gone. I'm still tired and take naps every day.

I haven't gone off my plan. I'm just sick of people who it works for saying to eat less. Just because I'm not feeling full and I'm frustrated doesn't mean I'm not doing well. Ive lost 28.2lb so far... Sometimes people just want to vent, it's not always about solutions. Sometimes you just want to know people understand and to say yes that does sound pretty lame. Its sad that people who have the same problem with food can simply say 'get some control". Maybe you should of before you had surgery then? It's not helpful, is it? I'm 6ft tall and young. Maybe my metabolism is just faster and I'm just bloody hungry. Simple as that.

Anyone who even implied that it would be is full of it. But that doesn't mean that having the surgery is a bad move in and of itself.

lindabalseca reacted to SeaShells82 in Sleeve surgery and Blood pressure -- WHY??
You might want to track the sodium levels in your foods/protein shakes in addition to monitoring your Protein intake. If you're accidentally getting too much sodium that could be causing your blood pressure to rise. Also make sure you're taking your blood pressure at the same time each day - 2 BP readings really can't be compared if 1 was taken first thing in the morning and the other was taken after a workout session. Most people are told to check their BP once in the morning and again before bed.

Wow not only are you miserable but you have trouble comprehending as well. I'm actually quite comfortable. I have friends and family who care and support me. I'm unsure how you get that I feel entitled, but whatever. I realize that you are not comprehending and interpreting anything that doesn't say, get out if your pity potty and take care of what you need to take care. Especially resorting to calling people obscene names just really shows you in a juvenile, no childish manner. However, if disagreeing with how you have handled yourself and not feeling sorry for you makes me a b****, I'll take that because quite frankly I'd rather be that than and be accountable for how I conduct myself than sit and stew and yes, whine. Be well. Feel free to perseverate and craft a response that again will continue to confirm the necessity of some form of mental health intervention. I truly do hope that there are services in your area.

Sometimes they don't I lost 34# and didn't cheat.. my calorie intake was 500-600 daily and my dr said my liver was huge...it is what it is...some don't shrink and some do...some people are born with large organs...he still was able to do the surgery...his concern was all the scarred tissue from a failed lap band I had removed back in 2010. I lost 85# but I was over restricted so much everything I ate mostly Soups. I threw up...it got to the point I couldn't even swallow my saliva....
Point is follow the instructions of ur dr office to the letter..only have 800 or less calories watch sugar/carbs

You really are miserable. I wish you peace on your journey. I'm personally quite happy I don't know you in real life. No wonder you are alone, you are moody AF. I read the whole thread before I responded , so I know the whole story that was in the thread. Therapy sounds like a very good idea for you to release this anger, passive aggressiveness and poor me attitude

Now you're just being rude. We get it, you're upset and frustrated and incredibly sensitive which at the end of the day doesn't excuse you from being just nasty. Stop responding to him, leave it. Can we just get back to being decent to each other?

Thanks for asking, because I was actually worried about the same thing! From what quite a few folks have said and videos that I had watched I was expecting barely to be able to drink anything. As you know there is less than a week left before both of us can transition to the next phase but I was extremely worried that my pouch was too big. I was able to kill a full cup of Water in less than the hour and without any problems, I am just glad that I am not alone in my thinking. And thank everyone that answered, as this was actually something I was going to talk to my Dr about when I got to my 2 week post op appointment!

You have mis understood , I did not once say anyone should 1. sugar coat anything. 2 not be honest and say things are crap if they are crap. My only point is i felt she perhaps should not be advicing people to not get something not knowing their medical condition/state as to whether it would benefit them or not, I had no issue with her stating she is having a hard time.. I did not once say she should not do that.

I have been nice on this thread , so I will leave now. as I have shown support, and even shared when I struggled so why would i in the next breath be saying " shshhhh only talk when you happy girl" when that is not what i said.

But yeah it does not mean people are dumb when they are influenced by someones REAL and LIVED experience. How I handled myself post op was thanks to alot I heard from random people, it helped. Also nerves set in and say day before people see someone saying do not get the surgery can set doubt into peoples mind. But by all means say this surgery is sh*** and they wish they had not got it.
I don't want to argue with anyone, I was trying to offer the lady support and thats it. I knew someone would be negitive but I can not even be bothered when what I said is clear. I will just unsubcribe to the post, so you dont have to waste your energy responding to my post.
