I've been overweight since I can remember. Being overweight as a child shaped me into being uncomfortable with myself and ultimately led to social anxiety. I grew up without having many friends (and none that were long lasting) and never having a boyfriend or any boy friends, for that matter. In 2014-15 I went through a deep depression as it was my first year of college and I had a lot of time to myself because I didn't have friends or anything to do. Around May of 2015 I decided to take my life into my own hands and told my parents I wanted the surgery. I am 20 years old and knew that if I wanted this, I was going to have to do it now. My mother was more supportive than my father (he is overweight and felt that I wasn't going to make the changes necessary) but they were both willing to do anything I needed. I began my six month period of diet and exercise in June and was exercising frequently but was not dieting. I gained 20 lbs during those 6 months and that scared me into thinking I wasn't going to be able to handle the strict diet after surgery. It's been a little over a month since my surgery and I have already lost 32 lbs. I am so grateful to say that I have been making progress I never expected and am beyond excited for what lies ahead!!!

I'm at my first stall. I'm 7 weeks post-op, and the scale hasn't moved in 2.5 weeks. I am eating my Protein, drinking my Water and exercising.
BUT... my clothes are getting looser by the day. Today I was able to pull my pants off without un-buttoning them, I've never been able to do that in this pair before. And people are starting to notice my weight loss. So even though the number is not going down, my body is changing. And for that, I am glad!

I was sleeved on 9.30.15 and am down 41 lbs as of today. I still have 36 lbs to lose but I'm happy to see progress already. Photos on the left are from my highest weight of 205 in March 2015. Photos on the right are last month around 167.
PS Sorry they're kind of blurry. I had to zoom in a lot on the before photos.

My knee gave out, I fell and cracked some ribs. I couldn't get up, it was at a party, I was so embarrassed, it took 2 big guys to get me up. That was my last straw.. But I've been looking into surgery for the last 2 years, sick of fat pictures, sick of not being able to walk far before out of breath, sick of clothes shopping in plus sizes, just plain sick of looking and feeling fat and tired.. Sleeved on 11/30 very excited about my changes so far ????

Finally broke the stall.......60 days to the day. Just stayed the course and did what I was supposed to do and waited, and waited, and waited and watched the scale and complained and ask my nut 100 questions too. But, I finally broke it!

    @innersurfergirl
Thank you for your helpful hints.
I am nearly 2 months out from RNY surgery (November 19, 2015). I have had two "stalls" where I didn't lose anything for at least a week. The first at three weeks before I knew that that was a common place for a stall to happen. Now at 6 weeks, I have stalled again. I am 6 days into a stall. I lost a bunch over Christmas, including something like 5 pounds "overnight". Thanks to all the posts I keep reading, I am much more calm about this stall than the one at 3 weeks. I have kicked up the intensity of my exercise lately now that I am cleared to do more than walk. I am sure that is part of all the changes and nonchanges! I can also tell that my body is doing the work as my clothes have gotten bigger during this last week (i.e. my presurgery bra is now on the smallest set of hook and eyes!) and since I am working toward a new size dress for a wedding the first week in February, I'll take a stall as long as I keep shrinking!
    thanks,
    pam

I have just started walking this path. I have tried a couple diets but stopped them after a couple months. The thought of after I lose this weight what is to keep me from gaining it all back kept me from being able to do them with any amount of success.
I'm 6'1" and my current weight is around 360. I take a pill for blood pressure and one to get my good cholesterol up. 2014 I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Not high enough to warrant meds, the doctor asked me to cut my sugar intake and come back in 6 months. I cut the sugar but missed the appointment. A year later did the same blood test and the sugar was low enough that the diagnosis was no longer needed.
Overall I'm doing well. However; my right ankle and Knee both give me problems. The ligaments around my ankle are so week that I can turn / twist my ankle walking across a smooth surface. It just gives out. By extension, this is now causing problems with my knee. I know at some point I will need replacement surgery on either or both, but my current weight is not helping either.
But ultimately there were a few things that have influence my decision.
    1. A very close friend of mine, through high school and college died of a heart attack about 2 or 3 years ago. He was in the army, was healthy and very fit. Did all the things your supposed to do to be healthy. He was in OTC and died of a massive heart attack. The doctors on base where never able to determine the cause.
    2. Another friend of mine, pretty much the opposite of the previous (more like me) was driving home one night, had a heart attack and lost control of his car. Crashed and died instantly.
    3. My step son got married last year. There where photos of course. I knew I was a big guy, but did not realize how big until I saw the photos after the wedding. I realized then that I needed to do something or I would end up in a much worse situation or dead.
During the last year or so I've also been going through a divorce. Not nasty by any means, but my EX would not sign off on the paperwork; unlike others I know that have gone through similar situations, I ate more and gained weight because of the anxiety of getting this done with.
I'll be seeing my Doctor next month for refills on my meds and I plan on bringing up the Sleeve with him while I am there. I need help and I need to loose weight and I can't do it on my own. My Ex had the RNY done 4 years ago, so I am a little more prepared for some of what may happen after the surgery.
I'm ready to start this new journey, i just hope I can get the go ahead from my doctor. I'm ready for a better future.

Immediately after RNY surgery, the three critical requirements are meeting your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fats into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight. But you also need to limit yourself to the plan's meal volume limits, and types of foods. You are exceeding those volume limits and also transitioning to solids way too soon. Your stomach needs some time to heal before you transition to solids. So if you want to achieve the weight loss goals, you need to follow the plan.
For the first few months after surgery, I was on 3 Protein shakes per day. Later as I transitioned into larger meal volume, I was able to back off this requirement because I focused on high Protein meals. Generally Isopure has more protein than the normal Protein Shakes, but your body will absorb only so much protein at any given time. So I recommend you concentrate on the protein, either 3 protein shakes or 3 Isopures per day. This should also help you take the edge off the hunger. Eat all the sugar free popsicles you want.

@Stayc_b_me! My surgeon stressed that I should only take in Protein at that stage. No veggies, no carbs (applesauce and potatoes naturally have carbs even without sugar added), no fruit, etc. cheese is not a puree. I was told to wait until I was advanced to soft to eat cheese.
I would highly recommend plain Greek yogurt with stevia drops, low fat ricotta cheese with stevia and an extract of your choice (lemon, vanilla, almond), blended cottage cheese with a hint of pepper.
At 13 days I was forcing myself to eat. I actually cried when the clock said it had been almost 5 hours since my last meal and I had to go eat again.
I agree with @@Djmohr that you should call your surgeon's office right away tomorrow morning to discuss your intake and their guidelines. I was very well educated on the guidelines and expectations prior to my surgery. Hoping you have great success through this journey. Counseling may be beneficial to help you sort out head hunger versus what you need to be giving your body.
I was not allowed sugar free Popsicles until after surgery. They do count toward your Fluid intake. Same as sugar free Jello. Are you stopping drinking 30 minus before each meal and waiting 30 minutes after your meals to drink again?

What's is you Protein count at? And Water? It doesn't sound like you drinking enough. Are you on plan with with your surgeon requires you to be at this stage? Those are the important questions.
Your concern shouldn't be with stretching your pouch. In reading your post, I'm more concerned with you being fixated on certain foods. To me that classic head hunger. And unless you are adding Protein powder, the applesauce is a useless.
Protein is the key, at this stage every bite you take should be for the purpose of meeting your daily goal.
