BullyMomma got a reaction from 1cutiejulie in Leading up to my death?
I was totally fine for mine, but my husband was sleeved a week later, and I was a mess. I didn't even sleep the night before his surgery.

BullyMomma got a reaction from SusanB55 in Any husband and wife sleeve teams out there? Topic: Time between surgeries. Discuss! :)
We were also sleeved exactly one week apart. I was 4/4 and he was 4/11. It worked out perfectly! I was less mobile than he was in the first days, but I bounced back to myself a lot faster than he did. He was up and walking around sooner than me. He was even able to sleep in bed and get out of bed himself as soon as he came home. I was on the recliner for about 3 nights.

I wrote letters to my husband and children telling them how much I loved them and my hopes and dreams for their futures. I told them to open them if anything happened to me. As I got on plane ( had surgery overseas and travelled by myself!) changed my mind and told them to open them when I was in the recovery room cos they deserved to know now much I love them and not when I've gone.

BullyMomma reacted to Jen35 in Giving up the scale...
That's a good plan:) I know I made myself crazy with the scale in the beginning. Right now you want to focus on recovering from surgery and your nutrition/hydration. If you do that, the weight loss will happen.
At 3 years out, I weigh a few times per week. That may be too much for some, but I use to just ignore my weight and the scale. So if I'm not weighing often, it's a slippery slope for me. Once I got to my goal weight, I gave myself a 5-7 pound "buffer" that I wouldn't worry too much, but I don't allow myself to get beyond that. That way I'm catching any weight gain before it because overwhelming to me.

My goodness people. If you don't want to be told the truth then don't ask people who have been there. Keep asking your fat friends how to do it.

BullyMomma got a reaction from Purplenerdgirl in Any April/May 2016 sleevers?
I had a few bumps with fluctuating weight, but I was finally able to send everything to insurance and got approved so fast. I just scheduled surgery for April 4th!

I was asked about expectations and if I understood the risks of the surgery. We talked a lot about my weight fluctuations and previous weight loss attempts. We also discussed my support system, like who in my life will help me succeed.

@@NYGirlxo Wow we have so much in common! And it looks like we're on the same schedule for the surgery. Can't wait to see your results! We did go to one support group that had a patient panel and it was great. These people were talking about how they just aren't hungry and don't crave junk food even when it's around them. It doesn't seem real lol but I hope I can be in the same position in a few months.

BullyMomma reacted to rnsamantha in Why sleeve and not bypass?
I was worried about long term malabsorption and Vitamin deficiencies with bypass, so I elected for the sleeve. My surgeon said I was a good candidate for either (my initial BMI was 41)

Hi all! I've been hanging around here a bit and getting great advice so I figured I'd jump in with a little about me. I'm almost done with all of my pre-reqs for surgery and hoping for an early February sleeve date. I've already seen a few others on here in the Philly area using Penn. So far, I'm really happy with them, but all of the appointments are a little overwhelming.
One of the things that's a little different about my process is that my husband and I are going through it at the same time. His surgery will probably be around 2 weeks after mine. Has anyone else had surgery with a significant other?
I'm also surprised at how negative some people are about the idea of the surgery. I learned my lesson pretty fast to watch who I tell, so I'm glad to have my husband to go through it with, and that I found this forum.

BullyMomma got a reaction from jane13 in Anyone have an over 50 BMI?
Mine is over 50 as well. I was worried I wouldn't be approved for surgery because I don't have high BP, diabetes, etc. But I was approved based on my BMI alone. Mine is still at least a 3 month process based on my surgeon's requirements. Hoping for an early-mid February surgery date!
