They will give you mouth swabs if you ask, it's not awful, just dry! They also let me swish Water around my mouth when I went to the bathroom, just make sure you don't swallow! They said it's mostly due to my painkiller, the on-demand one, can't remember the name. It made me nauseous and sleepy too, so I'm not going to have any more unless I have pain beyond the heartburn. I'm done! Not even painful at all, just feels like heartburn. Nil by mouth until tomorrow, which is fine by me! Many have talked about the dry mouth, it's definitely an issue. I got a dry mouth pocket spray from CVS and I'm so glad of it. Just make sure you get the proper dry mouth spray rather than the regular breath spray.

    I'm in! If it's a secret group.
My surgery is tomorrow. I've been buying more Protein shakes, failing to buy liquid Tylenol, or multivitamins! I did buy a pill crusher, Protein pudding, Gummy vits, and Floradix to fill gaps? No idea if we can have that though.

Not one! And I keep my premier shakes in the office refrigerator so evidently no one is familiar with that brand that it generally has to do with surgery but the weight-loss is coming off so danged slowly that no one has noticed that either. I usually nibble at my desk all day so I do the same thing and no one, seriously, not one person has noticed anything. almost a little disappointing. Lol
I've lost about 25 lbs in 6 weeks - and I'm low BMI. The one thing I did mention is that I get up and walk in the mornings so if anything maybe people think that that's helping a little bit. Lol

I'm getting very nervous, though I know there's no real need! It's strange to be packing a hospital bag when the new baby I'll be bringing home is me!

One thing that I never thought of but my NUT recommended and I use everyday is a mug warmer. I bought a little coffee mate one for $10 and it keeps my food/ broth warm while I eat it since it takes forever to get everything down.

Mine is very good, but I'm not sure he realizes how much things will need to change.
For those who are on the other side, how did you prepare your partner? What did you wish you'd done or said?

I'm at the beginning of my journey, surgery in a couple of weeks. Something which is helping me is viewing myself as a friend in an abusive relationship, with food! I can be my own friend, and it helps me face those urges to get back in touch with my old flame, inappropriate eating habits!

    STATUS UPDATE:
It has been almost 4 months since surgery and I have been using marijuana since my for about 2 months now and I have to say it has been great. I have lost 54 lbs and I'm feeling great and going. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week and I'm very active. My life has truly changed for the better and guess what - having marijuana did not hinder anything for me. I stick to having healthy Snacks around like apples, bananas, baby carrots if I get the munchies a bit and it works for me.
Just thought to share as I started this thread and I have not been on here for a while.
    Definitely a positive experience!

Thank you for that very well articulated response regarding the correlation of smoking Marijuana and it's effects on post Bariatric surgery patients. I also appreciated your well thought out response and obvious expertise about the dangers of addiction and addiction transfer post WLS. Your critical thinking skills must be the envy of all your peers.
I'll bet you're fun at parties.

I have to agree, once a week is not frequent, funny thing is that I have not smoked for the last month because is something that I can stop at free will. To me an addiction is something you can't willingly stop on your own, such as tobacco users who can smoke up to a pack a day. I have recently stopped just because I don't need it, just like I don't need wine - While several months ago, I was having wine every week, I now have wine maybe once every three months, but with Marijuana being so widely used and now being legalized in several states, I was just curious. I am sure everyone has their own perception, and I have agreed for myself that smoking marijuana would not be best for me after surgery, but I would welcome open minded perspectives to this subject on those that have used it and what was the experience.

I would hardly call once a week an addiction? So someone who has a glass of wine or a beer once a week is addicted? Your ignorance and prejudice about Marijuana is showing....

It's a bit of a rollercoaster, so I'm planning to keep my options open.
In all honesty, I'm a suburban housewife, I know exactly which doctors are script-happy, it's not really my thing either! I suspect my surgery will inspire some creative coping mechanisms though. Then I'll pour my energy into my PhD and ultimately develop a frosty tallboy pill for my bariatric buds.
