  1. I had my rny done in April 2016. Doing very well with weight loss. At the beginning of December, I started having pain in my right side. Did an ultrasound, gallstones discovered, had gallbladder removed on December 30, 2016. I have healed well from gallbladder surgery, but I'm still having a problem. When I eat actual solid food, I have pain and nausea. I eat a small amount. I chew well, but still pain. I can tolerate Soup, yogurt, and Protein shakes without any issue. I ate about one ounce of moist pork for dinner tonight, and stopped because of pain and nausea. Anyone have this happen after gallbladder removal? I follow up with my dr this week, and will definitely tell him. Just wondering if others have had this experience. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    April 26th is coming quickly

I wasn't on actigul. I have had some trouble the last few days with feeling sick after solid food...not sure if that is related to gallbladder or if it is something else going on. I do feel like a whole new person, though. It is amazing to be this healthy. I am off of all of the mess I had to take prior to surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Keurig

Be very careful with things like Cappuccino and chai lattes for the kuerig. Many of those have added sugars. My NUT approved regular coffee for me at 6 weeks post op. I use my kuerig everyday to have a cup of coffee in the morning, but only coffee--nothing with added carbs or sweeteners. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    April 26th is coming quickly

I can't believe it has been almost 9 months! I'm doing really well. I've lost about 125 pounds all together, about 75 since surgery. I had some trouble with my gallbladder, which was removed on December 30. I was feeling sick/in pain for a month or so before that, but am feeling much better now. I'm about 30 lbs away from my goal weight, and I'm planning on running a 5k to Celebrate my one year surgiversary. How are you doing? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  5. I had rny gastric bypass done 8 months ago. Just had my gallbladder removed two days ago. For me, symptoms were sharp stabbing pains in my upper right abdomen and nausea/vomiting. My surgeon said that the better you do with wls, the more likely you are to have trouble with your gallbladder. Because my gallbladder surgery was just two days ago, I'm in some pain now. I have four new incisions on my belly. It certainly has not made me regret having weight loss surgery, though. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Y'all! I just bought myself an Instant Pot!

My husband bought me one for Christmas! So far, I've made pork chops and applesauce and Mac and cheese in it--both were good. Hoping to make chicken lemon Soup today. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Premier Protein question

i find the caramel very sweet and butterscotchy tasting. For me, this is one I made pudding with, instead of drinking straight generally, as it is my least favorite of the four I have. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Help--gallbladder pain

I have been having classic symptoms of gallstones for the last couple of weeks. I saw my surgeon, who ordered an ultrasound and scheduled gall bladder removal for December 30. In the meantime, I'm taking zofran as needed for nausea (and I have some pain meds if it gets really bad). Any suggestions on what to eat that's might not upset things further? I feel so sick to my stomach that I'm not eating much of anything. Still drinking fluids, though. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Help--gallbladder pain

Gallstone surgery today and all went well. Dr said there was one large gallstone causing all of this trouble. Glad to have it removed. I now have five additional incisions on my belly. The pain today has been fairly bad. The pain meds they gave me say to take one or two, and I've been taking two (unusual for me). I'm sure I will be feeling better in the next few days though. Terrible gas pain--I'm having rny flashbacks! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Let's Talk about Iron

I am four months out from RNY surgery and doing really well. I recently had my Vitamin levels checked, and several measures of my Iron were low. Normal range for a woman, I believe, is 10-150. Mine was 5. My surgeon was not overly concerned about this--will monitor and see how I am doing at my 6 month blood work, possibly supplement with an iron pill. I currently take 36 mg iron in my chewable Multivitamin. I am okay with waiting, except for the fact that my hair is falling out like crazy. (Not all the fault of low iron, I know....but I believe it is contributing to it.) In the meantime, my primary care doctor has encouraged me to try to increase the amount of iron I am getting in my diet. She agrees that I will probably need a larger supplement than what I am currently taking, but feels that it would be good to try and see if I can raise my iron level through diet before my 6 month blood test. Iron fortified Cereal seems to be the best source of iron that I can eat. My current plan is adding a quarter cup of bran flakes to my greek yogurt--gives it a nice little crunch and gives me 6 mg of iron in just a quarter cup. (To compare, ground beef has about half a mg per ounce.) Wondering what everyone else is doing for iron. DId you have problems with iron being low right after surgery? Do you supplement with a pill, injections, other??

Eating sweet stuff and not dumping?

I can see where you are coming from with this, but dumping is sometimes presented to a bypass patient as a good thing, in that you can't eat sugar anymore without severe consequences, so it will help you lose weight. Dumping was listed in my information packet as a 'benefit' to the surgery, so I can understand the OP's point of view. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App Yeah! Best job in the world!! How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh daily and record my weight in an app called Happy scale. It is awesome. It gives you a rolling average of weight loss, current rate of loss, projections for when you will reach your goal based on a few scenarios. I really recommend it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Eating sweet stuff and not dumping?

I don't dump either. I do have a reactive hypoglycemic though, which makes my blood sugar spike than crash....so, I try to be very careful with sugars. I passed out once from low blood sugar since my surgery, and I really don't want that to happen again. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Help--gallbladder pain

Sure...sharp, stabbing pains in the upper right abdomen (for me, very close to the bottom right of my rib cage). Nausea, some vomiting, some diarrhea. Pain also frequently radiates to the back, upper right shoulder blade area for me. Other symptoms (that I don't have) include jaundice and dark colored urine. Help--gallbladder pain

It has certainly boosted my weight loss the last few weeks, but it hasn't been good for my Couch 2 5k routine. I've been eating unjury chicken soup, so I can get even close to my Protein goals. Carbs seem like they cause less pain, but of course I want to limit carbs. Zofran has been my friend as well. Painter88, can you tell me why you recommend not having it removed? I actually drink a good bit of lemon juice generally because I form kidney stones and have had huge trouble with those in the past. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Major Stall 11 months after surgery

Not that this will make you feel any better, but according to my dr, it is very typical for weight loss to slow like that. I have lost 120 pounds and have around 30 pounds left. Not sure what to tell you other than maybe shake up your diet an exercise a bit if you have been doing the same things for a while. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Ladies I need your advice!

My dr office highly suggests some form of birth control for 18 months after surgery. After considering a couple of options, I went with the pill. As far as I know, there are not any forms of birth control that are not recommended for bariatric patients, but definitely ask your gynecologist. Also, I second the person who said be careful-- fertility can be increased after weight loss! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Premier Protein question

I use them instead of milk to make sugar free instant pudding--delish! I like using them much better than using powdered Protein in the pudding. I also drink them straight. I used vanilla last week to make a gingerbread flavored shake (recipe from PP site) and it was good too. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    C25k. Keeping myself honest

I just finished week 1 of c25k. If you all don't mind, I thought I could post here to keep myself motivated. I have really enjoyed week 1. Very proud that I have been able to do it. I had rny gastric bypass on April 26 of this year. I'm down about 115 over all (60 since surgery). I am feeling great in general. I don't have a 5k in mind currently, but am still excited about c25k. 21. I am about 7 months out from rny surgery. I had to have a tooth removed today because it cracked after a root canal. The oral surgeon told me to 'try' to do a soft food diet for a day or two, if I can. LOL....two days of soft food? Buddy, I did two weeks of liquids and six weeks of soft foods....two days is no big deal. Made me smile, so I thought I would share. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    HAIRLOSS NIGHTMARE

I had rny on 4-26-16, and have had quite a bit of hair loss. The last month or so, I've noticed it seems to have slowed down, and some of my hair is actually growing back now. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Slow Weight Loss

I am nearly 7 months out from gastric bypass. I lost about 60 pounds before surgery. I have lost an additional 55 pounds since surgery. (My surgery weight is nearly exactly the same as yours.). My doctor and I are both happy with my loss, but I have lost slower after surgery than many people. At this point, I would like to lose another 30-40 pounds, but it is a fairly slow process at this point (~5 pounds a month). Best of luck to you. You sound like you are doing a lot of things right. Stick with it. It will happen if you stick with it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
