  1. If you're still loosing weight, why mess with it. Just keep working out and watch what you're eating... and Geez- get some more of the Beans & rice! Full for 6 hours, I would LOVE that!!! BTW- I go for my 1st fill on 7/11 and can't wait. I feel like I can eat too much now, even though I stop myself. It's an ongoing battle for me, but I know I can succeed!!!
  2. OMG Loooossssiiieeeeeeeee- I am SO Thrilled for you!!! I started working out every day for the past 2 weeks and since then, I haven't lost anything- however, I HAVE lost inches- so I am not loosing hope... I know those pounds will start to shed soon!!!
  3. Hey Felicia, Thank you soooo much- I have been on that sight all day and finally have it down pat! I entered 2 weeks worth of food logs that I've been keeping in a book... This is much better once you learn your way around! You have been extremely helpful...
  4. I too have PCOS, but stopped getting my period. If you haven't already, you should "google" PCOS and read all about it. There is a wide spectrum of symptoms that go along with it. I have all the aweful ones- darkening of the skin, skin tags, weight gain etc... I take the same meds as you've been prescribed. Expect to feel a bit on the nauseated side. I felt like I was car sick for about 3 weeks- YUK! I think I've had it for a long time, but was just diagnosed last summer and that was when I made my final decision for WLS. I am extremely frightened of getting diabetes and heart disease. I wish you the best of luck with your journey. Keep us posted!
  5. I am seriously confused on how to use this website and need it desperately. I have no idea what I'm consuming a day except for what I eat and how much it weighs! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! :confused2:
  6. I bought a hand blender from the grocery for $14 and it works Great! I looked into the Bullet, but didn't like the quality of the cups it comes with- VERY thin plastic! Some people love it, I just thought I would break it too quickly! LOL My suggestion- go to Macy's and check it out first- they may even have it on sale and you don't have to worry about the shipping!
  7. I have not had a cigarette in 5 years... however, the morning of my surgery, they had to make me wait because of an emergency! A woman who was banded who did not quit had an ulcer and because of her continued smoking- she wound up with a hole in her small intestines. Please stop- there are reasons they tell you not to smoke anymore. More than you can think of or even hear about on this forum. It's not something to fool around with. Try going to a hypnotist or having that new laser treatment that will help you quit. There are a million books to buy to help you quit. Try everything you can. Best of luck to you. I apologize if these seemed harsh- but you asked the question.
  8. I was banded on May 20th and noticing some changes. I've had a lot of stress the past 3 weeks and was putting the blame on that. Tomorrow is a new day and I'm going to be working out every day on my lunch break- hopefully this will eat away those extra calories I've consumed. Also, I was thinking about committing 1 day a week to just liquids... has anyone else tried this? Is this ok to do? On to the ticker problem... Click on your ticker- the website will pop up! Click on Edit/Update Ticker... fill in your new info and then click next. The new info should automatically be updated on your ticker, no need to repost to your signature.
  9. I was told no drinking 10-15 prior to eating and no drinking 20 or minutes after eating... Always sip- never gulp your drinks... A very good way to get your Water down is to add a slice of lemon and a pack of Splenda or a packet of Crystal Light... Lemon w/ Splenda works great if you're in a restaurant... I only use 1/3 of a packet of the C.L. because they are too strong for me, but I've been drinking about 100oz/day. I'm trying to drink 1/2 my weight in liquids, but it's really hard! I'm now 256, so 128oz of water is tough, but I'm trying... It was impossible at 282 (starting weight)
  10. That just sounds wonderful.. Thank you for the recipe!!!
  11. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ds_nwlgQztE&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ds_nwlgQztE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> This was on YouTube.com There are a few others...just type in Lap Band!
  12. I was taking Tums or Rolaids anywhere from 2-4 times a day with a prescription before bedtime- still nothing really worked... As soon as I had the surgery- it was GONE! They say that if you DO get it again- it could be sign that you are having a problem with the band and you should contact your surgeon's office right away. Congrats!!! And welcome to Heartburn Free World!!! LOL
  13. I was going to wait until Tuesday- but I couldn't help myself... (that's my 3 week bandiversary) Down 25lbs!!! Unbelievable! How exciting...
  14. You definitely did the RIGHT thing! I had the same issues you are having and now I am 3 weeks post op and feeling like my old self. #1- Remember, you've just had major surgery. Your insides haven't settled down yet. Walk, walk, and walk some more. It will subside. #2- You're on an emotional roller coaster- I found that writing in my journal every time I had a negative thought TRULY helped. I got everything out. And I went back to it this week as I have had a lot of family drama. Normally I would just eat- but that's not an option any more. Had to find another out. Everything will be alright and the hardest part is over now. Wait until you get on that scale... I weighed myself this morning and found that I am down 25lbs. OMG- When was the last time I lost 25lbs in less than 3 weeks! LOL Good luck to you :incazzato:
  15. I too am so glad to have the "anticipation" feeling gone. I was so nervous just waiting and waiting for the day to come. Now I feel so much more like myself again. I just can't wait to start eating real food. Soups and shakes just aren't cutting it for me anymore. How much have you lost? I lost 15lbs right away and now the weight loss has seemed to have stopped. I am losing inches for sure, I know the rest will start to come off- it's just nerve racking to me to think- OMG- I just paid $15K for 20lbs! LOL Best of Luck to you :tongue2:
  16. You really need to call your doctor's office and see if they can send you a list of items to have... My doc says if you can fit it through a straw, you can have it... On the 22nd day, you can start eating... I can't wait... only 6 days left for me... The thickest thing I have is creamed soups... Slimfast is very filling. A can of Soup at Hand is great too! Best of Luck to you... don't worry, the pain takes about 10 days to subside if not 12 or 14. Everyone is different. It will fade away and you'll just say to yourself- Wow- I feel normal! LOL
  17. OOOOhhhhhhhhhhh- I couldn't understand why you said you couldn't drink Water. I was freaking out... Hope your little one is feeling better Best of Luck to you!
  18. Why can't you drink water?
  19. I tried the Alli system last summer. WOW-that was a huge mistake for me! LOL The Story: Well, I didn't take my pills one day because the next day we were going to a party and I knew there wouldn't be any "fat free" foods there. I have to tell you that I was feeling good- I ate a burger and some ribs... Then in the middle of a conversation, I felt my stomach rumbling. I ran to the bathroom and spent the next hour crapping out oil. The smell was so disgusting. I had to go home- Thank God for leather seats because I farted out a giant oil stain on the way home. I came home and threw the pills away- gained 20lbs and vowed I would never take ANY diet pills of any kind again. Your roommate sounds a lot like my hubby. In a way, I truly believe he wants me to be fat forever. It's almost like it's his "comfort food" if you know what I mean. It's a security blanket for them- if we don't look "hot", we won't want to leave. My hubby doesn't believe this and almost gets offended when I tell him. But it's the honest truth about how I feel. I wish you luck and remember- always do what's best for you... It's your body and your life- Live it to the fullest!!!
  20. I was banded on May 20th- Doc didn't give me a pre-op diet- but he definitely should have. I wound up having an enlarged liver and they had some difficulties and came close to not performing the surgery. Thankfully, my band is in- which I have actually given a name= "Lily"... She is quite important to me and we have a long journey to get through together! At my pre-op appt, I weighed in at a whopping 282- my all time high. I was shocked! I am only 5'2"- so I must look like a little suma wrestler! LOL As of this morning, I am 269- bye bye 280's- bye bye 270's!!! I will Never be seeing you again!!! WTG everyone- anyone have an NSV yet? (Non-scale victory) I know it's kinda early, but those will be coming along Very Soon if not already!!! XOXOXOXOXO to all
  21. You just need to relax and find something to calm your fears. I was banded on the 20th and woke up thinking- O.K... I want it out now! LOL I cried for 2 days straight until I started writing in my journal. I had a little panic attack yesterday and started writing again. I write about how I feel, about conversations I'm having, about my goals etc... You need an out- because you're probably so use to getting up and going to the refrigerator or pantry when you're stressed and you just can't do that now. Nausea is very common. You've just had major surgery. I'm still nauseous, but have found ways to calm it down. You need to sip on something warm like tea or broth. Slowly! Lay down with a heating pad on your belly. I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow and really can't see it happening, but I'm going to try my best. I may only be able to work 1/2 days for a little while, but I'm o.k. with that. I think once we get back into our daily routines, it's a bit easier. I agree- I don't know how anyone can go back 3 days later! LOL Congrats on making the decision to change your life for the better. Don't give up and don't be afraid. Everything will come together for you soon. Found an 'out' and try to rest.
  22. Oh Fran, that is the most wonderful news ever!!! You are doing an amazing job!!! I can't wait until that day... I sat and wrote all my goals in a journal today and that was one of my biggies! 100lbs ago for me was high school and I thought I was chubby back then! What a dummy I was! LOL Congrats to you- keep us posted- looks like you only have 19 to go until your goal... Holy Canoli!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. I just passed out!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. I am 4 days post-op and feeling like I'm recovering. I looked down at my hand and there was a lump.. it's not a bite, it's the opposite hand that my IV was in and it's not even red... just a lump. It actually feels like a cyst because it's kinda hard. I know there are things called Ganglion Cysts and this seems to fit all the symptoms. It makes sense that I would have one-has this happened to anyone else? Ganglion Cyst This is the description given at WebMD...
  25. I just use a pill crusher- i asked the pharmacist and he advised me to do it this way with the type I have. I was on 2000mg/day- but the day of surgery, my doc cut in half. He said I won't even need it anymore soon enough. BUT yesterday, I took my Water pill and spent the day in the bathroom. I usually take 4 of them and only took 1 yesterday. YIKES- that was a rough day:(:rolleyes2:
