    So, it begins.
You are about to start down the WLS path. How many forks in the road, or bumps along the pathway you will encounter is unforeseen. Parts of your journey will smack you right between the eyes and take your breath away with its reality checks. However, the joys and thrills should make the stark moments seem like a passing dream.
    Exciting? You Bet.
    Difficult? At times
    Rewarding? Definitely
    Exasperating? Oh yeah, but seldom
Rewarding? More than you can imagine right now
I hope you remember that whatever difficulties you may face, there will be others who have faced the same "walls" and have endured. When those times come, please remember us here. Some one on this site will have the answer for you.--everyone will certainly have an opinion anyway! Try to grow a thick skin. It will come in handy with sooo many different points of view. Hopefully, everyone will have your best interest at heart. They all mean well, I'm sure.
After all is said and done: Tomorrow is YOUR day!!!!!
Go and start your new and exciting journey to a healthier and "lighter" happy life.
I wish you nothing except the very best of journeys.
    Off you go!!!
    Prayers going up.

I've been heavy all of my life, I've had periods where I've dropped a lot of weight doing Weight Watchers and tons of exercise. The problem is that the weight always piled back on. I started my journey towards WLS (sleeve) September of 2015. After countless Doctor Appointments, a sleep study, endoscopy and fighting with my insurance I am finally hitting the surgery table tomorrow at 1:30PM.
I'm kind of freaking out tonight. I'm second guessing my decision as this is a major major game changer. I know I will still go through with the procedure as I know I will be heading towards serious health problems if I don't make this change.
    Please wish me luck.

I used Wellesse liquid multi-vitamins (and liquid iron) for the first several weeks post-op. I did a double dose of each, one in the morning and one at night. I found they tasted better if they were kept in the fridge, and the best deal I found on them was on Amazon (I have Prime, so free shipping helped).
My lab work has always been terrific FYI.

As of today I have lost 200lbs. I started at 439 and today 239. My goal was to reach 239 by April 1st, but with God's help, hard work at the gym by burning 2000 - 2100 calories a day in cardio and weightlifting and eating around 1100 to 1200 calories a day i have hit my goal much earlier than expected. I'm so proud of myself because i haven't weighed under 250 since i was 13 years old and I'm 38 now. For anyone thinking they can't lose the weight use my story as inspiration because it can be done, and i will help anyone that wants to try. I have to thank my husband and kids for keeping me focused everyday and loving me. I also can't forget the rest of my family, who has also given me the encouragement i needed also.

ashmarie1425 reacted to DeletedMember in 2-weeks post-op update
So I am officially 2 weeks post-op today. Thought I'd share my experience for those interested.

We'll start with the stats. I've lost 18 lbs since the surgery, and 64 lbs since I started this process 8 weeks ago tomorrow.

The surgery apparently went very well, doctor said it was one of the smoothest he'd had. There was awful pain post-op that lasted about 5 hours. It really was bad, probably the worst pain I've ever experience. It quickly subsided after that, and I have really had a pretty easy time with it since.

I went home the day after surgery, and began adding Protein shakes and Water on day 2 post-op. Things went well, and I was able to get my required 60 grams of Protein and 64 oz of Water almost right away.

The afternoon of Day 8, for what seemed to be no reason, I started feeling very nauseated, and extremely tired. By Day 9, I could not stomach the thought of Protein Shakes of any sort (which I absolutely hate since surgery BTW). Day 9 consisted of me just basically just getting in my water, and even that was a struggle. By mid afternoon I was feeling so horrible, and I thought I was having the beginnings of a panic attack. I was sweaty, dizzy, and felt like I was going to pass out. I decided to take my blood pressure out of curiosity, and it was 98/45. I was obviously a bit freaked out, and called the doc. He speculated that it was most likely that I had lost so much weight so fast that I was probably over-medicated now for my high blood pressure. I was taking 10mg of Amlodopine and 100-25 of Losartan-HCTZ. He had me stop the Losartan completely, and take half of my Amlodopine starting the next morning. I felt better (but not great) on Day 10, but by Day 11, I was 100% back and feeling great again.

I had started a tiny bit of applesauce on Day 9, tried yogurt, but could not stand the taste. Day 11, I added in cottage cheese, and Day 13 started with some roasted sweet potatoes. food has been absolutely no issue whatsoever. With the exception of the BP issue, nothing has made me nauseous, and while I have no sense of hunger, I also have no sense of feeling full. I actually find the process frustrating as I feel I am trying to sort out quantities, frequencies, etc by myself. And while it's going very smoothly, I have a lot of self-doubt about rather I'm "doing it right." My doctor does not give quantity guidelines as he feels it varies so much from person to person. He also does not give calorie guidelines as he doesn't care about calories as long as people are putting the "right" foods in their bodies (I know this is VERY different from most). I reached out to the BariatricPal community and asked to see what their doctors recommended in regards to quantity, which has been helpful. I saw that there were recommendations not to exceed 4 oz per meal, so I have been sticking with that, but I can definitely eat 4oz of cottage cheese with no problem at all. Never get a sense of fullness (again, I'm also never hungry), never feel back pain/pressure, or pain/pressure in my chest or any of the other symptoms I hear about.

All in all, I consider myself very lucky. Things have gone as close to perfect as possible. Even the blood pressure issue, while unpleasant, is exactly what I was hoping to get from the surgery. And while the food re-introduction is stressful for me, it couldn't be going better.

Just thought I would share my experience to-date for those who maybe going through the same thing, or about to be!
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, I'm only about 7 lbs away from not being morbidly obese for the first time since I can remember (probably at least 15 years). He's to being severely obese (for now)!

Yep! I lost like 13 lbs. my first week. About the 3rd or 4th week. I stalled for 3 weeks straight! But, the inches were still coming off! I also was not getting in enough calories, Protein or Water. That contributed to it as well. It's work to get in all our nutrients required. It's a learning process. Everyone is different and I'm figuring it out. Congrats on your loss and don't get discouraged when/if you stall. Things start back up but just make sure you don't over do exercise and get in enough protein and calories to stay away from starvation mode and so you don't lose too much muscle!

I am only 4 days post op & already losing. I am so excited. My surgeon told me not to weigh myself for at least a week because the IV fluids will create excess Water weight - but I just had to know where I stood. I have been losing 1lb per day every day, I weight myself the same time every morning just to see.
I just wanted to share my excitement! I know it will slow down later and maybe even stall but for now I'm relieved bc tbh I am getting sick of Protein shakes so seeing progress is motivation.

I am not a very good patient when it comes to pain but like I said I'm pretty sure a lot of it is the anxiety of what I think the pain maybe I'm scared that I won't have enough pain medicine and I'm going to be in excruciating pain that is if I make it out of surgery alive!! Aghhh I'm such a chicken shit lol I am so excited for u and u WILL do great!!! We all will!! [emoji106]????[emoji6]
