Not telling people about your surgery is a "half truth" or a "lie" steams me like a pile of fresh cow dung...
I don't think I could have summed it up any better than you did! But I would be lying if I didn't say so. LOL This is hilarious.

1/4 of a pepsi
@@Lipstick Lady, my doc allows my coke zero as well. Of course it takes days to drink one so I think I am okay with regard to expanding my stomach.

Anyone else have a surgery date of November 13?
Hey everyone...last weeks weigh-in put me at 183, I had a stall as well during my move out of state, but lately there has been some movement in the right direction. I expected the slow down so I haven't been too bummed about it. I do need to move more, but the new job has me so busy. I stopped tracking calories when everyday was looking nearly the same, but if it becomes an issue I will restart, but for now I am focusing on getting my physical routine where I want it to be. I am glad everyone is doing well...I am eager to see where my body decides it is happy. I can say I would like to be at 145, which is 38 lbs but when I look at myself in the mirror, I do wonder if there is that much still to lose. People had said before that I carry my weight well...My weight hides itself well is much more appropriate to say. But it will not hide for long. I will utilize this tool to its maximum capability. I cannot believe it had been 5 months as of today.

Anyone ever thought:"I can do this on my own, I don't need the sugery"
Absolutely...every single time I dieted and attempted to lose the weight, I was telling myself I can do this. And every single time I believed it. I realized WLS was right for me, about the 20th time the pounds just came back, and brought with it a few of his friends which put me at my highest weight ever which was more than when I was pregnant. Enough was enough...and I had to accept I needed help.

What Are Your Fast Food Faves?
Not that it is on the menu, but you can order individual items from McDonald's like egg white etc. I am a burger fanatic and for years I have been eating them without the bun. No offense, to McDonald's but I don't eat their burgers. However there are other places such as Hardees, Carl Jr.'s, and depending on location Wendy's which will offer the burgers in a lettuce wrap.

Eating after surgery
@berg, please do not leave the support group due to one comment which was perceived to be rude. I say this for several reasons: 1. Everyone needs support through this process 2. No two people are going to respond the same to a question or comment, because we are all different 3. You have a choice to skip over those comments which are not helpful or rude or mean, etc. etc. 4. Someone may have the same question or thought as you. 5. Written word leaves out so much nonverbal, that it is often hard to decipher what was meant or how it was meant from simply the text alone. But you can also take it at face value, some comments will be more blunt than others. But when we get to the point where the struggle is real, sometimes what we need is bluntness. Regarding your question, the best is to follow guidance by your physician. I was not allowed beef until recently. I am over 4 months out. Just be gentle with yourself, and don't be surprised if what looks like just a little bit is impossible to manage. Take it slow...

Clothes Getting Big

How can you tell you lost weight?
I would recommend grabbing something, maybe from the thrift store etc. that is the size you are now. Yes the dreaded try it on shopping experience. It is even ok if you get something snug. Take a pic of yourself in them, then put them away. Periodically, pull them out and try them on and retake the pic. Now I say thrift store because you do not want to go out and spend money on something that will be too big in a few months. And you are already going to have to get a new wardrobe. I knew I was losing because of before and after pics, people told me, my face was slimming, I have a clavicle, thigh gap is starting to show, my shoes became lose, clothes too loose, etc. Best wishes

Did you need someone to take care of you after surgery?
I traveled to have my procedure. Drove my own car to the airport, and back home on 3 days post op. Of course, I did this carefully, and had a pillow in the car to lay between myself and the seat belt. I did not take any medications after the IV was removed so driving on pain medication was not an issue. I was on my own post op, and did fine. I was up walking every chance I got, including going up and down the stairs in my home (slowly). My good friend and neighbor also checked on me, but she does anyway even without the procedure :>

So ashamed smh
The first step was to get on the scale. Now you have to get back on track. You have done it before, you can do it again.

Self pay and could cry over the amount, couple of questions
Just another Mexico sleever here! I was sleeved in TJ for $4500 (minus airfare). Overall, I paid no more than 5K and was able to book when I wanted which really worked out well. Lots of people discredit surgeries done out of country but they were really great and they took great care of me. There is also the option to bring someone with you but I chose to go alone, and met a great group of people there.

Easily Nauseated - Worried that sleeve will cause constant nausea
There may be some slight nausea after the procedure but that generally subsides. You do want to make sure to eat slowly enough and and in small portions. These are the major culprits for nausea and vomiting post procedure. Your doc can probably give you nausea meds if it is a problem for you.

Wore a dress 4 sizes smaller and felt exposed
This is definitely something that may come up for you. However, understand that there is a process and it will take some getting use to your new body. Which is hard to do at this stage when it is constantly changing. Give yourself time to adjust and remember compliments will come, just say thanks and keep moving.

Would you move where has someone died?
I understand knowing may give you the creeps. However, it sounds like you have waited a long time for the place. Death is a part of life and it sounds like the lady lived a full life. Its a decision you have got to make based on what you can live with.

A work in progress!

Need to rant
I can understand how upset you must be with him. However, don't let it get you down. I know you did not want others to know about your procedure, and you probably don't want to postpone either. I say just go forth as planned, but also let your husband know your feelings (calmly, even though you're upset). If at 3 days post op you don't feel like entertaining (which at this point is unclear, some people are fine by then), then only do what you are up for, and excuse yourself. They might understand that you are not up to it. That or plan for activities in the home that require little to no effort on your part (they are elderly right?). Sorry, I am just trying to be optimistic.

You know you lost weight when
Someone said this before, but now that I have had to spend my money on wax I will repeat: When you cannot use a razor to shave your armpits because they have become actual armpits LOL.

Just Wondering....
My official weigh-in day is Saturday. However, I generally weigh everyday except during my cycle. Initially, I was of the mind that weighing each day would be nerve-wrecking. But I find that knowing the number is quite calming, and not-knowing for an entire week is quite stress inducing. It definitely depends on the person, and I believe you have to do what works for you. I admit that if someone is stressing about the scale, my advice to them would be to stay away, but otherwise, do what works for you at the time. Remember that what works can change and you may have to adjust.

Surgery tomorrow
Joejoe, I wish you well in your surgery tomorrow. I am sure you'll do just fine.

You know you lost weight when
when your old skinny jeans have saggy bottoms; oh wait, when you wear jeans for the first time in forever; you can buy bras with thin straps or no straps because they come in your size; when you enjoy sitting on the floor, and can get up when you want and not have to work up to it.

What to bring to hospital?
I did travel for mine, so I had a few extra things but still only used the comfortable clothing, chapstick, and heating pad. Everything was provided . Oh and I had my cell phone and charger which was brought for entertainment purposes (i.e. books, magazines, etc.). With travel, I was gone 4.5 days.

Help needed!
That is what I was told when I was looking for it in the pharmacy last year. Told it is carbonated and comes in a jar, white or orange color liquid. Just a heads up, it was not pleasant so I drank it quickly.

Due for sleeve in four days and having second thoughts. On my PreOp diet I am desperately hungry and know I'll be on similar diet for weeks post op.
Anything worth doing is not going to be easy. It is going to take work...but I know you know this part. What you are feeling is common; most of us were anxious about one aspect or another. And there are some of us who almost backed out. But you have to ask yourself what it is you want from this and how it is going to benefit you in the long run. And don't forget to consider how you got here in the first place. For most the gas you experience after is the worst but walking helps to move this along. Pain at least for me was minimal, in fact, I did not take any pain meds after having my IV out, there was no need. I did have some nausea, but it wasn't bad and it was a reminder to me that something needed to change, either the food I was eating or speed at which I ate it was too rapid. I rarely get nauseous anymore; it was about learning my new tummy. In the end, you have to do what is right for you.

How about some NSVs!?!?
Oh well I have to head to get some new bras. My 36 band no longer fits and my boobs fall out the bottom too often. And as my husband says in a pouty face, "there is too much room in the cup area too". It is hard to laugh when he is pouting, but at least I did not spit out my coffee this time.
