Sex after the sleeve
This depends on how you are feeling. As long as your partner is aware of the surgery and plans to be careful, I don't see an issue. For me it was around day 10 only because my hubby was not in town, I am sure it would have been a few days sooner had he been here. Take that back he probably would have made me wait anyway. He is an overprotective one. I really did not have pain etc. from surgery.

How many days off work ?
I took 4 days, but only technically 2 work days. I had surgery on Friday and was back to work on Tuesday. My job is in a large hospital doing a fair amount of walking. Guess what the doctor was recommending. Walk Walk Walk. So with that, I was walking as much as possible and the gas pain was gone fairly quickly. That is not to say that I got home and wasn't tired, but it worked out well. I got a 1 week course extension for my class though because there was no way to come home and just keep going. It worked out really well for me. Do what you think is best for you. I had the option of adding extra days if I needed more time. And no one knew about the reason for my days off, not even that I was having surgery at all. And when I got back, that next week no one could tell I had anything done, and therefore no one asked. They just assumed I took a long weekend.

Scared to weigh tomorrow....
No what you are feeling is common. I do recommend taking measurements if you haven't already. It is a much better indicator that the numbers. And during my TOM, I skip that week to weigh-in because I know what happens. It will come off, keep up the work.

Dumb bells vs Kettle bells
I use my dumbbells for push up or plank rows as they are flat on one side. I use the kettle bell for kettle bell swings and Turkish get-ups. Other than that, they are pretty versatile or can be used for the same exercises.

I was forced into the gastric sleeve.
I am taking my piece of responsibility. I realize I shouldn't have signed those papers. And I did a few times tell her up front hey lady I'm scared and don't want this at all. She thought I was simply joking so I just thought I would be able to back out. And your right it totally back fired and your right maybe I'll love it. I'm trying to be light and positive. My high school years I wasn't so much. But life is too short. That's why I'm writing my story here. Where no one knows me or my family and it just feels good to get out. Cause I've been sitting. Here so mad for five days. She knows how upset I am with her. I think she may finally have backed off completely as long as it means I might be able to actually get long and hang out with my mom then I can't say it's a horribly bad thing. Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk I definitely applaud you coming here. And you absolutely should share your story because we are here to support you on this journey, even if how you got here was not by choice. It is a great place to sort out your frustrations, as well as learn a lot. Even if you hate it we are still here to help you through. I am pretty early in my journey, just over 2 months out. And forgive me if I sounded harsh, that was not my attention. As a therapist myself, my heart definitely goes out to you. Your actions show that you love your mother and would do anything for her, to be able to spend time with her. I hope you get many more of those opportunities to bond with her. Take care!

I was forced into the gastric sleeve.
I am sorry you are dealing with this issue, and sorry that you don't want to be among us who have had the sleeve because they need it. It is important for you to take control of your experience. This forum is a good start. There is tons of information about what has happened as well as how to proceed from here. Specifically regarding what you should be eating at this phase. I am truly sorry this happened to you without your consent, well mostly without your consent, as you did go along with it. Please own your responsibility in this. Therapy is a good idea too as others have mentioned. You have to find the voice to stand up to your mother and mean it. This experience is a way to take control of your own life. Start by weighing yourself, find out where you are just to write down somewhere. Also, there are tons of people that say they wish they had gotten the sleeve before things got out of hand. You have that benefit, though it may not seem like it now. You will get to the point where you can eat what you want. However, this process could be major learning experience for you. You have to move forward. Your plan to teach your mom a lesson backfired...now what? I am glad you are able to at least be light about it and laugh. You might even like it.

First plane trip since WLS: a NSV and an ouch!
Congratulations on your weight loss thus far. I agree in part with what others have said regarding no reaction from your folks, and again others have said they just may not have known what to say. As we go through our journey, lets all me mindful that we can ourselves drum up what we think it means and still be way off. We also must consider life before the surgery and how it played a role in their reactions. Not saying this is what happened but an example might be...At some point someone mentioned or rudely made notice you were gaining weight. Your response indicated you were not happy about them bringing up your gain. They translate it to me you don't want your weight discussed. Fast forward 150 lbs down. Didn't discuss weight or bring it up for fear of or avoidance of a negative reaction. All I am saying it there are so many moving pieces we just never know what it could be about. So don't let others still your joy. And definitely don't read into people's reactions too much, because it would just be spinning wheels. Congrats to all on their journeys to be losers. And cheers to all those who notice and say something nice, notice and say something rude, notice and say nothing at all, don't notice at all, to the green eyed ones, and especially to the ones who do a double take when they realized you've got legs, breast, ass, etc. and are not who your fat tried to define you to be. I see you.

Anyone else have a surgery date of November 13?
Me too Fiesty! Make sure you update your weight on the right column cause your tracker still has you at 222. It is weird, I was trying to switch to weekly weigh in but it made me nervous. back to weighing every day. At least though I am aware of what my weight is doing. You know a lot can go wrong in a week. Keeping fighting Fiesty it will come off.

Can I play basketball?
I was out playing with the kiddos about 1 month post out, but I would say it is definitely based on how you feel

Why the Slime?
For me it is not like mouth watering, it is like needing to spit, but thicker. When you spit it tends to want to hang around too. Like I literally have to stand over the toilet until it decides to drop. Mine lasts for several minutes, and usually is relieved after vomiting. This was happening quite frequently at first, but once I got the hang of how my body wanted me to eat (1 bite every 3-4 minutes), then it slowed quite a bit, even though if I eat something my tummy does not agree with it will happen.

We’re approaching post number…4 million!
Wow 4 million, that really is amazing! Having BariatricPal as a support on this journey and being able to converse with others in the same boat, or on the same road I should say is an invaluable experience. I would not trade it. And it has a tendency to be addictive as well.

Looking for a new friends in San Antonio!
One pound, I totally understand your frustration and feeling alone on your journey. I specifically kept my surgery to myself except for a few people close to me. I do have one friend here is San Antonio, and she had the surgery as well around the same time. Mine was in November of last year. I have here for support, if you need it.

Anyone else have a surgery date of November 13?
Hey Feisty, life has a way of happening but you will get the hang of it and be back on track before you know it. I am hoping to be in onederland soon, but of course these 6 ponds could take forever. You just never know when the illusive stall will show up. I hope I get well into onederland like 5 below. to say I am there and will not face the 200's ever again. We shall see how it works out, but I will definitely keep at it.

What can I do with...Avocado?
Oh and for a option with less fat, there is always turkey bacon. I have tried it all. Though this is my recipe from prior to surgery so I haven't made them recently because I can't have them yet.

African American Sleevers
Charles, they are here, I am not one, but have seen several chime in from here or there. The is more than 1 African American Sleevers topic. I think they are both just really long. A simple search may help.

What can I do with...Avocado?
Jalapeno Poppers 1 avocado sliced bacon sun dried tomato (1/4 cup) salt jalapeno slices honey (tsp) mash avocado, add salt and diced sun dried tomato, to chunky consistency, slice bacon in half, place one slice jalapeno on half bacon slice, dab avocado mixture, then wrap. Take the other bacon half and wrap it perpendicularly. Place on baking sheet. Repeat with remainder of bacon slices. Place in oven and bake to crispiness of preference. Some people like their bacon crispier than others. Eat and enjoy. Also if you don't eat bacon, this mixture can be used to stuff chicken breast or to lay shrimp or fish across.
