  1. hi everyone! I made it thru surgery, (wed., april 9th) and am back at home after spending time at my mothers house to recover. she has a craftmatic adjustable bed! okay so today i had my first food thought! i miss chewing food! lol all these liquids are cool and all but i really didn't anticipate how much i would miss eating as opposed to drinking for nutrition. other than that i'm still a little swollen and sore but nothing that a little tylenol with codeine doesn't fix. only thing that sucks is i get super nauseous after i take it and that protein stuff?!?!?!? wow!!! so hard to get down! anyways... just wanted to check in and update everyone! thanks again for all of ur kind comments!
  2. Less than two days away from bandland!!! The next time I sign on will be post surgery. It's great meeting fellow nj bandsters!
  3. yea my doctor told me i didn't need to do the liquid diet till a few days before my surgery. i'm good to go, i just talked to the nutritionist so, i think i'm good.
  4. Hi all, i'm from montclair and i'm going for lap band surgery on april 9th. i'm going thru dr. strom at mountainside hospital. i'm soooooo nervous and excited. are there any pre-op tips that you guys can give me? i know this is probably a little too late to ask since i'm only a week away but feel free to post a checklist, last minute reminder or anything u think might be helpful. i'm currently a size 20/22 and hoping to get down to a 12 i'm not sure i'll feel comfortable being any smaller than that, more importantly i just want to feel healthy and be able to live a long life without being predisposed to so many of the health problems associated with obesity. i already have asthma and that has been enough of a hindrance in my life. okay, not going to ramble, just glad to be in a jersey forum!
  5. i'm going for my surgery on april 9th. i'm so nervous about it though. unfortunately i haven't done a strict pre-op diet yet, just been no-carbing it (basically eating fish and veggies drinking water and light juices), but each day i decrease my intake so hopefully i'll be alright. I am also looking forward to a life change, learning better habits and living a long life. so i say, good for you massa36! Is there anyway to quell my nerves?!?!?!
  6. I am scheduled for band-land on March 5th 2008. I am excited but not too excited because I want to be sure I can get it first before I actually get excited. I still have to meet with a pulminologist, cardiologist and psychologist per my insurance before I'll know for sure. I weigh 286 lbs. and I stand at 5'8''. My goal is to gain a new lease on life and live the healthiest life I can. This surgery means more to me than just weight loss, cus truth be told I like being a big girl! But I want to be a smaller big girl LOL. Anywho, can anyone tell me about the pre-operative diet? When did you start it, did it make the adjustment easy? I'll search the site for more info on this...
