    December Banders Where Are You?

My surgery was about 45 minutes. I spent about 2 hours in recovery then about 2 more in my room. Great experience and had a great medical team taking care of me.

    December Banders Where Are You?

Surgery was a breeze. Went into a cold room and took a little nap. Total trip took about 9 hours including the 3.5 in the car. Taking the pain meds and only water today. Gas pain is real but tolerable. Oh...it was today.

    Getting banded on 12/17/15!

I am going to be a week ahead of you. I get my band on Dec 9. Weight hasn't always been a struggle. I was 175 or less the entire time I was in the Air Force but then I got out, got lazy and it started creeping up. Now I am 255 (only 5'6) and can't stand it any longer. Best of luck to you. I look forward to following your progress on here Brad
  5. I now have my surgery date. December 9 will be the first day of my new life.
  6. I just got my insurance approval for WLS today. It is something that I have been thinking about for 2 years. I tried the HMR diet and actually lost 35 pounds but as soon as I quit it all came back (plus another 15). I am now at my heaviest I have ever been (5'6 and 255). I have a hard time tying my shoes in the morning because I can't bend down to do it. I can't go out and play with my kids. I can't hit a golf ball as far as I used to. In general life sucks right now. My problem is like so many others...I am wondering what I am getting myself into. I know it is the fear of the unknown. I faced that before Basic Training for the Air Force and now I am facing it again. The only thing I know is that if something doesn't change I won't be around to see my kids get married. Please tell me I am going to be ok with this new lifestyle. Right now I can't ever seem to be full so I eat and eat and eat. Will the band help with that aspect or will I eat through it? Thanks, Brad
