betterme38 reacted to glitter eyes in First week post vsg- almost no weight lost
Most people either don't lose or even gain the first few weeks. I was nine pounds heavier the first week. I didnt really start losing until about week three.
Just try and ignore the scale for a few weeks and focus on hydration, Protein, walking, and getting plenty of rest while you heal.
    Good luck!!

Yeah I do scrambled with a bit of almond milk n cheese so there fluffier n a Lil wetter so to speak. Easier on the new tummy. I have them with salsa for a different taste lol.
Try a Lil bit of canned chicken or scrambled eggs if you think your tummy is ready for it. Mine only hurts if I eat to quick or gulp Water. If I eat slow n small drinks I'm fine but each our own. N if you don't wanna try that's fine too go at your own pace. I had to chew though n gum wasn't cutting it anymore

No, not really. I've had canned chicken, canned roast beef (chew chew), hamburger ground like for lasagna n as long as it's juicy it's ok. I even had a Lil salad n it's fine. cheese is fine also, that's really all I've had lol just stuff to chew that's high in Protein besides the lettuce.
What about you, how are you doing?

I'm using Colace. I never had Constipation in my life but a week after surgery I was in labor for 45 minutes. I didn't want to go through that again and the Colace is working well.

Hi. I'm new to the forum although I have been reading for weeks with interest. I'm 20 weeks post op and down 70lbs. Everything has been great. Except for Constipation. I finally found the answer last week. My dietician (I'm in the UK) advised me to add flaxseed to my Breakfast or drinks. I've been having a teaspoon every day since Thursday and I've been easily every day since. It's more natural than taking tablets and works a treat. Just thought I'd share

How long post op are you? I've read lots of people saying that this surgery is a tool and we must use it to assist in making the lifestyle that we need and desire. I am 8 weeks post op and although only small amounts.. I have found I can eat any kind of food. And that scares me too as I fear what I am capable of. I guess it's something we will have to work at every day. Good luck x

Don't stress yourself out by setting numerical expectations for how much weight you will lose in a given month. Work at following your team's plan for hydration and Protein and stay off the scale for now. Your body is in recovery mode from major trauma and you can't expect it to behave rationally. And you really, really can't expect to lose 30 lbs in a month. Not saying it is unheard of -- but it is very rare, and more likely to be done by a man with a BMI of 60 or something like that. It's really not reasonable to expect that of yourself and you are only setting yourself up for disappointment.
You know that a stall is coming your way, right? Third week stall. Do not freak out when it happens. Even better, stay off the scale and you won't even realize when it happens. Good luck!

I had my surgery on the 12th. My doctor has me on Clear Liquids for 3 weeks. I will have to look at my book to see what's neck. I was off pain meds 4 days later. Sometimes if I drink my Water or Protein shake too fast, it will hurt going down and my chest hurts as well. Sometimes I am hungry. I was proud of myself today because I thought about buying a large sweet tea from Sonic and I didn't.

I just cleared 1 month post-op, and I've lost about 26 pounds -- or worded another way, two jean sizes and one shirt size.

Losing 27 pounds in 3 weeks is a huge amount. Your body is adjusting. It doesn't distinguish between preop and post op. It is just working on healing. The weight will come off if you do your part too.

Relax and concentrate on healing. You're going to lose weight as long as you stick to the plan.
Some people don't lose the first week or two.

I think a lot of people have a small gain when they start solids. I promised myself that I wouldn't weigh myself until a week post op (or more, I don't remember) to account for extra weight from IV fluids. BUT... This early out, I wouldn't be worried. You WILL lose. Your body is in a WTF are you doing to me stage, lol. It will catch up when it figures out you aren't starving it.

Not at all. Immediately post-op (after discharge, so day 3) I was allowed up to two ounces of any soft Protein (cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, yogurt, refried Beans with cheese, etc) three times per day, plus Protein Shakes. It was tiny portions, and I generally could only eat about half. I would set a timer for one minute between bites and chew chew chew! I was also supposed to eat whatever I comfortably could out of the two oz portion within 30 minutes, then stop. My stages progressed from there, but as you can see, to liquids, no purees, etc.
It's interesting for me to hear stories about people who "cheat" and jump stages, saying, "I ate refried Beans while on Clear Liquids, and it made me so sick!" I think the reason I never got sick or felt uncomfortable is because I didn't have a huge period of time post op with no real food. It's a different approach than most surgeons take, but it worked for me!

I didn't lose anything the first two weeks. Nothing! Nada! Not even 1/10th of a pound! then in the next two weeks I lost 22lbs. Everyone is different. I'll tell you what my nutritionist and surgeon told me at my two-week postop appointment, you just did major trauma to your body. It is confused and reeling and trying to heal. Let it heal. The weight loss will come.
