Constipation.

Hi. I'm new to the forum although I have been reading for weeks with interest. I'm 20 weeks post op and down 70lbs. Everything has been great. Except for constipation. I finally found the answer last week. My dietician (I'm in the UK) advised me to add flaxseed to my Breakfast or drinks. I've been having a teaspoon every day since Thursday and I've been easily every day since. It's more natural than taking tablets and works a treat. Just thought I'd share

Happy to say after 5 days post-op it was nice to go. Pre-op I was using the combo of a Fiber combo pill, and a good magnesium supplement. Post-op using just a stool softener.

  • I'm using Colace. I never had constipation in my life but a week after surgery I was in labor for 45 minutes. I didn't want to go through that again and the Colace is working well.

  • Well I had finally gotten it out before I took the Colace so that was a relief. I took the Colace to prevent further constipation and so far it is working.

Recently constipation has come back with a vengeance! Getting my Water in is a big challenge - also looking into getting something from the pharmacy because its getting uncomfortable now...

How long did it take you to get some relief with the Colace? I took some today and really want it to kick in soon lol.

I'm 10 months out and I take it every day. Still, I have just one or two bm's a week. Keep in mind, were burning lots of calories and not eating much.

I don't blame ya at all. I've never been constipated in my life either and today and last night has been the worst part of this whole surgery so far for me.

Take some milk of mag with something warm to drink and stay close to home. Then take colace every day.
