redvet got a reaction from ckunes in Over 60 and having the sleeve
Hi ckunes. Don't be so hard on yourself, we all make mistakes and fall back into old habits sometimes. The key is to realize where you went wrong and go from there. Like you said, you are a RN so you know what you have to do. I wish you the best going forward. -
redvet got a reaction from kmorri in Granny with a Sleeve
I just turned 61 on April 15th and I had my sleeve on April 12th, it's nice to see other mature ladies that have had the surgery and doing well. So far I have not had any complications, just the usual pain when I swollow my liquids, it doesn't last long but a couple of seconds. Everyone please continue to take care of yourself.

redvet got a reaction from VSGButterfly404 in Any April 2016 VSGers out there?
Hello all April Sleevers, I had my sleeve done today, actually it was yesterday morning at 5:30am. Surgery went very well and I had a small hernia repair done as well which I didn't know I had. Surgery only lasted about an hour and since that time, I have walked the long hall 3 times and been sucking on ice chips the whole time. I thank God that I haven't had any issues. One piece of advice I would give would be to follow doctors orders as close as possible, suck on the ice chips, walk as much as possible and listen to your fellow sleevers who have had it done already. Good luck to everyone and if you have any questions I'm here. God Bless.

Sorry to hear you're having issues, even though I haven't had my surgery yet, I'm on a few pages and from what I have heard that usually mean dehydration. So sip, sip sip as much as you can. Good luck. -

I'm doing good, I just want to have the surgery and lose this weight. I have my last lifeskill class this week and I have 1 more nutrition class next month. I have to see the Nurse Practitioner and my surgeon next month, BCBS requires so much! I have done all my labs and the cardiologist and pulmonary Doctor cleared me already. It's the waiting that gets me. Let's keep in touch and cheer each other on, it's nice having someone to go through this journey with. -

Hi Abby, I'm right there with you, this will be second month of nutrition classes and dr. Peters will be doing my surgery. I live in Bear and I don't have a date yet but thinking it won't be until March because of the 7 months of preparations. Maybe we can keep in touch and support each other.
Good luck to you! And I wish you much success!

Arenea, also don't forget to take a small pillow for your stomach for the ride in the car, I heard you need to have something to place against your tummy for a while. Also you may want to take something to read while you are in the hospital

Hi Arenea, the endoscopy was real easy, the hardest part was worrying about what was going to happen, lol. They get you comfortable and the anesthesia doctor come in and talk to you to explain what is going to happen, then they gently put you to sleep, you don't feel anything, it's a very relaxing nap, the doctor takes pics of your esophagus and stomach just to make sure there aren't any problems that might interfere with your WLS, the procedure is really quick about 30 mins then you wake up and go home, simple. You won't have a problem so save yourself a headache and don't worry.

L.o.v.e. I don't read the negative stuff because everyone's experience is different, I try to maintain a positive attitude so that my surgery can have a positive impact. In my years on this planet it's been my experience that most of the things we worry about never happens and we just scare ourselves like crazy. I do know that things can go wrongs but I choose to deal with those things if and when they occur. It's normal to be concerned but don't let fear hold you back from living the life you were meant to live, this is a blessing for so many people and I want to add years to my life not just for me but for my family as well.
