    Depression and Hormones

I am 56 and post menapausal, I went through menapause early around age 42. Since I had my surgery on March 8, 2016 I have felt like I have had PMS every single day mood swings, crying jags, you name it. I'm assuming that it must be hormonal because I have been on Lamicatal and Cymbalta and Buspar for depression for years. My depression has also been controlled for all these years with meds. I see my surgeon again next week and plan to ask if I should have my hormone levels checked. Aside from that my surgery went great, I've been to drink 64 oz of Water everyday since day three after surgery, I have no problems eating, no nausea and no dumping. I get all my Protein in everyday. I don't know what hormones the surgery affects but I hope my doc may be able to do something about it. Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in Indiana?

Ashmarie, I've only told a handful of people about my surgery and one thing that I have thought about is what do I tell the people that don't know when they notice that I've lost alot of weight. There are some that I really don't want to share my journey with but I'll have to explain the weight loss somehow. Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in Indiana?

Hi yes I'm in Indianapolis. I had RNY on March 8. I can relate to your situation I don't have much of a support system myself. Most of my family is deceased except my grown son and a cousin. Right after my surgery my cousin asked my surgeon "how soon will she gain all the weight back that she loses?" she often makes other remarks. My grown son doesn't say anything at all about my surgery. My point is I think that those close to us sometimes feel threatened about the big changes that we go through after surgery. Our focus is very much on using our tool and dealing with our new lifestlye. Maybe they feel left out. I think that all of us have went through this to some extent with our loved ones. Hang in there and do what you need to do for you and your health and wellbeing. Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

    Constipation Question?

Oh one more thing the nurse didn't say anything about a stool softener. Do you recommend any certain brand? Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

    Constipation Question?

Hi all thank you for your input. I talked to the nurse at my docs and she told to do the glove thing since I was already compacted/impacted. She also told to get some Miralax and start drinking it every evening. After two days I finally got relief and I swera I thought I was giving birth to a baby. Lol. Another bariatric patient told me that there is a tea called Smooth Move that really helps right away. I bought some at Walmart in peppermint flavor. I haven't had a chance to start it yet because I've been ok the past few days. Thank you all again. Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App
  7. Can you drink Smooth Move after or when you have already had Miralax? Or do you have to wait till the next day? Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hi all, I had rny on 3/8/16. I've had no problems since day one, I've got all my fluids in, no nausea, plenty of Protein and normal bowel movements UNTIL today. I had the urge to go earlier and I went but it was just a few hard balls, I still felt the urge so I strained for a long time long enough to cause bleeding. By then I was in alot of pain. I called the nurse at my doc and she suggested fleet enema and buying Miralax, so I did both the enema didn't work and I know the Miralax probaly won't kick in till tomorrow. I'm still in alot of pain it feels like my rectum is full. Has anyone had thos problem?? Do you have any other remedies? Thank you Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App
  9. I'm 9 days post op and have had no problem getting 64 oz of fluids down, broth, jello or two potein shakes per day. I don't have to take sips, I can drink 8 oz of Isopure in about 15 minutes and not feel full. I've read post after post from others that can't get enough fluids in and feel full after tiny sips. I called my Nut yesterday to ask her if this was normal and she said yes this was the goal. What do you all think?

    4 Days Post Op Problem

Thank you all. I have a call into the office. Today I am feeling much better but I've only had water and Isopure Clear Protein drink.
  11. Hi everyone, I had gastric bypass on March 8. I did great inthe hospital no nausea or vomiting. I had broth, jelloIsopure and ice chips. The doc said to add protein shakes when I got home. I came home Thursday, that evening I had one Premier Protein shake and later 1 oz jello. I was fine able to take all meds. Yesterday I got up drank a shake too some meds a few hours later had jello and took pain pill with jello. I then got the worst pain under my breast bone and down front left side and was nauseated. It took about 45 till I vomited all the jello and pain pill. I felt somewhat better but not much. Four hours later I tried more jello and pain pill I vomited all up. I was and have been in so much pain since yesterday and my stomach is making all sorts of noises. I feel nauseated and full up to the back of my throat. I'v only had sips of water today and they make it worse. I called the dietician, she said to go back to ice chips and I have since yesterday..not helping And no pain med since yesterday morn. Can you advise?
  12. Thank you Kindle I want to try all those ideas. Is there a way to make the frozen juice pops and add protein to them?
  13. My surgery is March 8th.
  14. I'm 56 and I'll be having my bypass surgery on March 8. It's getting close so I'm getting nervous now.
  15. Kindle does the regular sugar bother you or make you dump? What you do sounds like something that I would like to try. That goes against what eveyone says even the nutritionist but I get hives and twitching for several hours after having artificial sweetners. What kind of protein shake did you use for popsicles. Also how far out from surgery were you when you started making your own drinks instead of using the suggested ones?
