    few days out and scared

Everyone is very different after surgery, I myself did not feel any restriction and I didn't expect to. Some people swell more than others and the best advice I got when I was feeling frustrated was that this was the time to focus on recovering and not looking for restriction. They were right on :scared2: Good luck to all of you guys! Oh, I forgot the other part of your post, what will eating what you are not suppose to, do? Well, if you eat something that you are not suppose to during the healing process and your stomach is moving around trying to digest you are not allowing the band to settle into place and the healing really cannot begin (this is what my surgeon said).

    Driving after surgery?

Hello Elyssia I had to have a port revision because my port was too large for my body, it was bonking against my ribs (it is on the right side between my ribs and hip bone) being short that I am 5ft2 - it was causing constant pain, sleeping was painful, sitting was painful - pretty unhappy all the time. So that being said I had a "low profile" port put in, slightly lower than where the other one was. It is smaller and thinner and has made all the difference! It was an easy and quick surgery as well :wink5:

    I decided im ready

Welcome to you! This is such a wonderful site I agree! It has helped me before and after my surgery, I don't know what I wouldn't have done without it. Good luck to you!

    Any regrets?

Oh my goodness I do not regret my surgery at all! I did have a port revision and it wasn't a big deal at all - it just "was". My only regret is not having my surgery sooner, I wish I had woken up and smelled the coffee long before I did. I spent so long thinking I would be a success story with Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach and The Zone. I also was delusional when it came to the "I am a big boned" or "I am not fat I am fabulous" ah yes the crazy thoughts of a woman over 200 lbs (226lbs actually) So that being said, I have no regrets I hope you feel the same after you have your surgery :wink5: and for whatever reason that you don't have it I hope you find your way that makes you the happiest. Good luck!
  5. Well to be completely honest, I had three weeks I could use and I used all three, I would have been ok after two. However, my employers were more than happy for me to take the full three and I did, I came back completely recovered and recharged.

    Driving after surgery?

I hope you can get a ride home - there was no possible way I would have made home in one piece - Quite frankly had I driven myself home I would have probably had an accident and or hurt someone! Good luck and I hope someone comes and gets you.
  8. Ok so the livin' should be easy right? According to that song that starts that way.... instead I am hungry lol and having moment where I am afraid to eat because I am so hungry I think I might eat too much? Does this make sense? When you let yourself go a little too long without food you worry you will I eat too much? I hate that feeling of "stuck-ness" more than I hate the feeling of hunger these days. - which I only have when I am not taken good care of myself - which is this past week - I have a cold like you read about and I am still dealing with this stupid ovarian cyst. So, any who what I think I should do is relax, go make a nice egg white omelet with some protein and just relax a bit more.
  9. I love oatmeal and I eat it most mornings with natural Peanut Butter. I sometimes make it with vanilla soy milk or regular soy milk - whatever I have. I have added toasted walnuts and dried cherries - that was yummy.

    How often do you weight?

Sweetie! what are you doing that for? You are going to drive yourself insane girl! Put the scale away - seriously, or have someone hide it for you and bring it out once a week! I know what an obsession a scale can be - I have been there long before I had my lap band surgery - I am wishing you luck and will power to work through this - sorry if this wasn't the answer you were hoping for as I know you were wondering if anyone else does this - but I just had to reply and let you know someone is thinking of you and wishing you well.

    My best NSV so far

Congratulations to you on both - the ring/weight loss and your upcoming nuptials!
  13. Hi, you are not bothering me at all and I understand the worry. I basically found out about my cholesterol and how bad my Gerd was when I started my Lap Band journey, until then I had no idea and I wasn't on any meds simply because I didn't know how bad both were. I am betting you will get approved, maybe you will have to fight it or maybe not but I am sure with a note from your PCP about treating you for diabetes would be huge in the decision making on your insurances part.

Sunday and the livin' is... well.... hungry?

Ok so the livin' should be easy right? When you let yourself go a little too long without food you worry you will I eat too much? 15. I am sorry, no I didn't have high blood pressure, I was replying as I thought that even without your high blood pressure you had two other issues that I had and I wanted you to know that with those two issues they finally did approve me. They said at first I didn't meet my companies requirements for medical necessity, then on the second one they said I didn't have enough co-morbiities - finally they then approved me. I have CBA Blue
  16. Hey there! I am doing ok today - I am making like a slug actually lol, laying around doing nothing but blowing my nose due to this stupid cold LOL.

Ok, I love my Nikon, I am not exactly savvy when it comes to the technical parts - I leave that up to my husband.

I love to take photos of pretty much anything, but wild life has been huge for me - my husbands family has a house in what we call the "Northeast Kingdom" here in Vermont that is essentially also known as "God's Country" absolutely beautiful and for the most part untouched. There are a ton of moose, deer, bear, fox etc. you name it up there and we spend time up there just driving around with the camera in tow trying to find the perfect photo!

So what is going on with you Rachel?

  17. Hi there, I was under the bmi of 40 and yes, my high cholesterol and gerd - along with arthritis in my knees seemed to do the trick. Mind you, I was denied twice but eventually the surgeon and his staff got me approved! Do not give up, I can't tell you how much I cried and stomped my foot(figuratively) when they denied me - I thought I would never get my surgery - but voila with their hard work I finally did get it! Good luck to you
  18. Hi there, I see you just joined today :) However, from your pictures you clearly have had the band - beautiful photos.

I just wanted to welcome you :)

    hi

I think anxiety is normal For me Lap Band surgery was the best option, I however do have an Aunt and cousin (her daughter) that had Gastric Bypass and it was the best for them. I think it will really come down to what you qualify for and what makes you the most comfortable. Research, research and research! Good luck to you and welcome to this forum, I will look forward to seeing you around on your journey Barbie

How do you keep track of weight loss?

Hi I measure myself once a week on Saturdays (today - I had forgotten) and I weigh myself with a scale that tells me by body fat percentage - interesting to say the least ugh!
  21. Hi there, yes I really did enjoy this book and I found it really helpful to read before and after my surgery.

And thank you about my quitting smoking! It has been now over two weeks that I have been smoke free and I am so very happy!

  22. I told everyone, I still tell everyone LOL ... I feel if I can help one person who is overweight then I have done a wonderful thing. But, I understand what you mean about people telling you their opinions and thoughts. However I have found recently that those people have shut up - could be the dirty look I give them  Take care  Barbie

    I cried last night

So, first of all I have today off from work just in case any one reads this and thinks I am slacking lol - I love this site! So without sounding all dramatic and silly I wanted to say that last night I had a unnerving emotion run through me. I had purchased "Weight loss surgery for Dummies" before I had my surgery and last night I pulled it out to review it again - and in the middle of reading it I remembered back to when I was reading it the first time.... I was curled up in bed for the evening and had a low light on, I was so anxious to have my surgery and I was trying to learn everything I could, I was fighting with my insurance company to get it covered, worrying if I would lose enough weight before hand....it goes on and one those worries I had And then last night it hit me, it is done, I had the surgery, the insurance did cover it.... I have a band in me! I cried, I sat there with my book in bed like I had done many months before and I cried
