I’ll be 2 years out on November 12 and the hardest part of this journey is definitely maintenance for me.

I just celebrated my 1 year RNY surgiversary! I refer to my pouch as the "Pouch of Steel". I can eat everything, including all meats and everything else. No problems with anything....EXCEPT for Peanut Butter! It feels like lead and seems like it sits in my pouch forever. Thank God for the powdered Peanut Butter. I tolerate that just fine. Use it almost everyday some way or another.

I simply reply " Oh yes, everything was great. I'm stuffed." Nothing more. Nothing less. No need to over explain.

Yeah I had to do a 2 week liquid diet before the surgery. To be honest that was probably the hardest part of the whole thing.

Gigs525 reacted to RickM in Total carbs verses net carbs
Neither. My doc never jumped onto the carb counting bandwagon when that came into fashion a few years ago (sugars and other simple carbs are limited, however.) Net carbs came about when the Atkins people realized the need to make their diet plan relevant to the realities of human nutrition - there is a reason why low carb dieters tend to be constipated.
The main driver for your long term weight loss is your caloric deficit; carb levels drive short term variations within the long term loss trend, primarily by way of changes to your body's glycogen levels and the Water needed to keep it in solution. Your doc's program seems quite reasonable, and it is only providing you with a max level per meal - you can go under it if you so desire. But generally, the carbs that need to be severely limited are the junk carbs that have little nutrition tied to them, while those that come as part of real food (that which comes out of the ground, as opposed to out of a box...) that has real nutrition behind it does little damage to your loss efforts.
As a side note, my carbs averaged (I didn't control them, but did record everything,) 70-80g per day in the early months of my loss phase, and around 100-120 g per day in the later months, and I wouldn't have wanted the weight to come off any faster - but I had a fairly high caloric deficit driving my loss, so carbs didn't matter, but the nutrition derived from them certainly did.

Gigs525 reacted to crazzeescrapper in Sleeve to Bypass info needed
My story, I had the sleeve in July 2014 at 300 pounds, got down to 210 by July of the following year but have been stuck there since. Gain & lose the same 5 pounds no matter what I do. Have tried increasing/decreasing calories, switching up exercising, 5 day pouch reset - you name it I've tried it but I'm stuck and frustrated. It seems like my body decided 210 was the weight it wants to stay at. I never had the big weight loss from the sleeve like I expected. When people were dropping big weight in the beginning months, my was coming off at a snails pace. I also never felt like I had the tight restriction most people spoke about. When we started eggs, most were like "I can only eat a couple bites" and I could eat 1 without any issues and not feel full. I honestly didn't feel like I even had a surgery. I can eat anything without issues and more of it at a time than I ever thought I would be able to after the sleeve surgery.
So I'm not looking at possibly going for a revision from sleeve to bypass, but I have a couple questions for those that have been through it.
What is your restriction from the pouch like compared to the sleeve?
What was your starting weight when you had the revision and how much have you been able to lose since the revision?
Do you have any issues with foods after the bypass that you didn't have with the sleeve?
Do you regret the revision or happy with your results?
I don't have any issues with GERD, I'm just unhappy with my total weight loss. I appreciate any feedback you can give me.

Gigs525 got a reaction from caligirltt in Xanax
Hi. I had RNY on November 12, 2015. And, yes, I take Xanax daily for panic and severe anxiety disorders.
In my case, RNY did make a very noticeable difference in how xanax effects me.
In the first 3 or so months, it hardly worked for me at all. I had terrible anxiety.
Now, at 5 months out, the medication hits me hard when I first take it, but doesn't last as long in my system. U G H!!
It's sort of the same reaction as others have stated in the forums here about drinking alcohol.
As time goes on, it seems to be leveling out. I thought I'd lose my mind a few months ago! As my body adjusts to malabsorption, I expect my reaction to my Xanax therapy to get back to somewhat normal.
Even though it's been rough, I'm getting through it. It's the only problem I've had with my surgery. Keep in touch with all your doctor's about any concerns you have.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat. My physical health is fantastic, and I hit my weight goal today!!
Good luck to you and your upcoming surgery.

Gigs525 got a reaction from Daisee68 in please share the microwave in a cup protein recipe
I made a mistake with my cake this morning ( more milk than usual) and it was my favorite so far.
38g Peanut Butter flavor Protein powder
1 full Teaspoon baking powder (yes, that much)
A drizzle any flavor sweetener you like
A half cup of Fairlife 2% milk (usually use 1/3 cup)
Mix thoroughly in a 2 cup bowl. If bowel is smaller, it will run over.
Microwave for 52 seconds depending on your microwave
Came out light and fluffy instead of heavy and thick. Was delish!!
    Calories 176
    Fat. 3g
    Sugar 2g
    Protein 28g
    Carbs 10g
Want less carbs? Try almond milk
Less calories/too much? Make half and nuke for 30 secs.

My surgeon stressed a lot yesterday about possible Hair loss. He told me it most likely will be the worst in months 3 through 6. It will come back! So far, I'm ok, but 3 months is around the corner!LOL I'll keep you updated.
