Mardi Gras and Lent - good excuse to give up something you've been using for a cheat?
I'm almost 4 months post-op and I think I'm looking forward to Lent to give up the breadsticks I've been cheating with. Maybe full fat cheese too...I think it's a good excuse for the religious among us to refocus and be soooo grateful for what this surgery offers and to get back on track. What are you giving up for Lent?

Things that have surprised me about being thin
I love to hear discussions of both sides of how people feel after losing weight and how much nicer strangers are to us. I'm conflicted about that too. It really helps me put things into perspective hearing how others feel about this new reaction - good or bad.

Does anyone feel angrier or more 'indignant' post surgery?
I know they say don't make any big changes in job, spouse, house, etc until a year or something out but I'm blowing up right and left. Quit my job ( had other one lined up prior) and blew up at my roommate. I need to get this under control. Not that I was wrong to make the changes I did, but all this change is very stressful when not medicated by carbs! I'm trying to get more exercise in to calm me as someone posted. Maybe I switch to decaf tomorrow. HELP!!!!

Does anyone feel angrier or more 'indignant' post surgery?
I think I'm going to try to go for more walks outside and get massages and do things that make me feel good. Maybe even watching funny shows might help take the cranky edge off. I have had such a resentful attitude when I should be so happy with my new life. I feel guilty about being so nasty to people - they probably don't know though. Actually I'd forgotten some advice my Mom always says when I'm feeling unhappy - go HELP someone. Do something nice for someone... That might make me feel better too.

Does anyone feel angrier or more 'indignant' post surgery?
I'm about 3 1/2 months post surgery and I have noticed that I wake up feeling kind of angry and put out at inconveniences and I was never like that before. Well, I was probably so drugged with food and carbs that I didn't notice it. I've been taking Probiotics since surgery which I thought would help but this negative attitude is interfering with work relationships not being as happy go lucky as I was. i've read lots of articles that changing the biology of your gut changes your mood and that kind of thing and I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed that since surgery and if so what might be a good cure other than yogurt and probiotics. According to this article, among many others taking probiotics seems to be a good idea for mood, maybe I just need more. http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/06/gut-bacteria-on-the-brain/395918/?utm_source=SFFB

Low BMI slow losing encouragement welcome!
My surgeon didn't require pre diet either but I kind of wish I had done one anyway - had I known how slow going this is. It is pretty amazing how this works. I do believe I can keep it off this time. About another 20 lbs and I'll be feeling good.

Low BMI slow losing encouragement welcome!
Thanks everybody for your stats and encouragement. Just trying not to squander my honeymoon phase.

MultiVitamin Plus
I just ordered a years supply as well so I certainly do hope they are absorbed. I absolutely can't tolerate those bariatric vitamins and swallowing any pills just freaks me out after surgery. I'm three months out but I just don't like it. Those patches are pricey even with the discount so I definitely hope they work. Especially since I'm in California and have to pay tax on them and shipping!

Low BMI slow losing encouragement welcome!
I'm low BMI and just Monday had my three-month surgiversay and I've only lost 30 pounds. I'm thrilled with it but after so many stalls hoping I'm not frittering away my honeymoon period by not being super strict. Just wanted to see if I'm on track with other low BMI people. I know not to compare (when I see 60 lbs off in 3 months!!!) so would just like to hear from other low BMI October people if possible. Thanks for understanding!

Surgery date 10/26/15 weight 215 Today 185 Down 30 lbs Goal 140 - 50 to go. Feeling better every day. Oooooh.... Tomorrow's my 3 mo surgiversary! I thought I'd loose 35 in that time but I cheated a bit at Christmas so that's fair.

Skinny Ass Boyfriend
This just came to mind - may or may not apply. When I was 21 I had a boyfriend who was super insecure. I was too immature to notice or understand it at the time. He was tall and good looking in all the girls wanted him so I thought he's not insecure he just wants to be with me - my ego. What happened was: I used to be a professional ballet dancer and I got an offer to join a company and travel all over the world and he was terribly intimidated by this and talked me out of it and it's one of the worst things I could have done, acquiesce to some guy I'm not even married to's insecurities. I felt like I was lucky to be with him - my insecurity. It could've changed my life. And he was long gone a couple years later anyway. I resent it even now, so just as an old lady telling a young lady, do what YOU know is right for you! Men will ALWAYS be around, maybe even better ones.

Still "fat" by society's standards
I totally get what you're saying! It really is that last 15 lbs that does it. I'm feeling the same way. 30-40 lbs left to go. Already lost 30 and feeling pretty cute, thank you very much, but still not getting the head turns like I did at lower weights. I've been up and down constantly my whole life and the masses of men really do respond to the smaller frame. Evolutionarily I suppose it looks more youthful and lithe. This is not a bad thing in my book; I can't get any younger but I can (now!) keep my body trim and fit! This April I'm going to be one busy lady! Wink wink.

This Hair Loss is Horrific
By the way I don't think it's from anesthesia I think it's from losing weight because when I lost 70 pounds a couple of years ago I had shedding as wel. At the time I blamed it on my hairdresser and frying my hair with bleach but it turns out I think it was actually shedding from weightloss, no anesthesia involved.

This Hair Loss is Horrific
My hair is down to my waist. It took a long time to grow that long. I don't want to cut it off when it gets thin. I don't want short hair! I'm at 8 weeks - no shedding yet. I think I'll try the Rogain trick.

Did anyone go to surgery alone.
I told ZERO people and took an uber there and back. Piece of cake.

patch vitamins
I've been using them. Kind of hard to get off and a bit pricey. Almost out, trying to decide if I'll reorder.

Weight loss on track but I eat a LOT
It says on the package. Shakes, eggs, # of servings per calories/carbs on cheese. It's not hard.

Has anyone done this without any family, etc. at the hospital?
Wow! I've told a couple of friends, but no family. I'll be alone too, my husband will be home with the children, and I prefer being alone when I'm sick anyway! Has anyone noticed you're eating differently? Not one! And I keep my premier shakes in the office refrigerator so evidently no one is familiar with that brand that it generally has to do with surgery but the weight-loss is coming off so danged slowly that no one has noticed that either. I usually nibble at my desk all day so I do the same thing and no one, seriously, not one person has noticed anything. almost a little disappointing. Lol I've lost about 25 lbs in 6 weeks - and I'm low BMI. The one thing I did mention is that I get up and walk in the mornings so if anything maybe people think that that's helping a little bit. Lol

I told ZERO people. Only you guys. I took an uber home from the hospital. It was a piece of cake. No one has even noticed.
