When to Start Vitamins
Yeah cuz I’m living and trying to heal off of broth and crystal light and a little optisourcr protein drink at a time my body needs nutrients most! I went into surgery with super low iron! And I’m suppose to eat like this for 3 weeks?? To add insult to injury I’m up 8lb from surgery date. IV fluids still on day 5? I’m drinking a lot and was in hospital less than 24 hours post surgery. Feeling rather sour about it all...

I’m 4 days post op on clear liquids. Wondering when I should start supplements. Surely my body really needs it now more than ever.

Waking up from Surgery. Any Tips?
Ok, so I’m 4 days out of surgery!!! Sleeve to RNY. Here is how it went: - surgery was seriously delayed, so I was so thirsty and nervous -I voiced this to the nursed - talking to them helped a lot - they put on a nausea patch, I truly believe this made a HUGE difference relaxing me - I had a list of questions so I remembered to ask it all - they gave me calming medicine into IV on way to OR and then I did not care anymore. - in OR I moved to another table - I remember them tying down my hands, but once again, I did not care - I felt heavy in my chest and... lights out! - woke to beeping sounds, I stayed very still to give my body time to wake - I prayed thanking God for brining me through and this centered me -it was hard to breathe so I asked for my CPAP and that helped a lot (they connected oxygen to it) - once again I stayed still with eyes closed (to minimize room spinning) somehow that helped - I heard them say I bled a lot, there was a drainage port on my left side and it was spilling over... not cool, but I did not look, I did not want it to make me queezy. - most pain and discomfort came from a catheter they left in ( I would later find out this was not necessary... stupid nurses left it in and had me walking around it all night!!!! So mad about that. Next day doc was like, why did they leave it in, they could have just called me.. I begged them too but they would not!!! - they also made me wait till next morning barium swallow before I could drink!!! Grrrr I was super thirsty - I got some anti clot shots in belly and they redid IV as vein had collapsed. Not pleasant - I got up to walk a few hours after I woke. Painful I needed help. But I refused morphen as it made me dizzy. - I walked about 6 times through the night, stopping to rinvr mouth with ice water to swish around. I fought hard for that privilage!! It helped -walking every 2 hours plus breathing excercises. I put all my might into that as I knew it was my ticket outta there. - I played gospel songs as I walked the halls - I think I did well cuz next morning around 9 amthry set me free to go home and recover. - some hydrocodone onboard and a pillow helped with the hour ride. - I would latter have to fight for days for a hydrocodone script!! If you can’t get it after you’ve been hacked up, when can you get it??? Crazy!!! T3 does not work that well on me. But that for another post hope this helps all awaiting this love and hugs,

@The Preacher please please never stop or cease. It was precisely when @Frustr8 pointed me to your thread hours before surgery that the peace that surpasses all understanding stayed my fretting heart to go through with it. Your prayers are relevant and VITAL and made a world of a difference for me, and will continue to make that difference for so manu! So from the bottom of my heart, Thank you ??

Hello everyone just a quick note to say that I am alive and well. Surgery went well yesterday and save an uncomfortable night with a drain in my side and with a catheter and not being allowed to drink until the next morning when they could do a barium swallow I have done OK I think. I was discharged today and sent home I have been doing my breathing exercises and walking every hour or two for substantial period of time but still cannot get the gas out of that is trapped in my lower abdomen just wondering how long it took for all of you to be able to pass the gas out I know I will feel better if I do. I have also been able to drink quite a bit 16 ounces of diluted pear juice 8 ounces of Optifast protein and a cup of chicken broth which is way more that I could do following my sleeve surgery. I do wish I could eat, I miss eating even this close after surgery but I know I can’t maybe it’s just in the head Thank you all so very much for your encouraging words the prayers and well wishes prior to my surgery I needed all of it and it made a world of a difference in my confidence level going in.

PROJECT LAST CHANCE! 3rd Bariatric Surgery Scheduled...Sleeve to RNY Anyone?
Thank you so much. Yes, quite nervous and just wanting it to be behind me. I hate this dread. I know there is a lot of work to do afterwards. I’m older and wiser as they say...and I realize I need to walk my way through the gas and I need to keep my head focused and my heart prayerful, and work through each stage with resilience and resolve. It’s such a mind game.

@ncgirl77 you are definitely not alone in regain. My doctor said he’s seeing more and more Sleeve regains :/. An Endoscopy might give you further insight. I have 2 more days to go.... unbelievable. It feels like time is flying and standing still at the same time. But anyhow I sent you an inbox message as well so we can stay in touch

Waking up from Surgery. Any Tips?
Thank you @macadamia that’s an awesome explanation of how it works. 3 more days for me! I have not had a drawn out liquid diet like others. I start mushes tomorrow, clear liquids and bowl prep on Tuesday, anc Surgery on Wednesday! Crazy how they vary pre op. But my surgeon has been doing these over 20 years and says the liver shrinking diet yields inconsistent results... go figure :/

Waking up from Surgery. Any Tips?
@CrankyMagpie wow! You are so dedicated, but I’m super frustrated for you. I’m sure your doc has his/her reasonings but...men it sounds like such a slow painful process, especially when you seem so ready to go from a research, mental and physical perspective. It took me forever to qualify for my first Band surgery. 2 years, denials, appeals etc, my Sleeve was a breeze (had to have overturned port revised and gallbladder removed along with it), and this revision to Bypass was a breeze approval that took 1 week because my Sleeve was malformed as an Hourglass to begin with, I have a Haitian hernia , a structure and oh yeah, I regained all weight lost via Sleeve...

Waking up from Surgery. Any Tips?
Oh wow @KCgirl061 ! Thank you for the response. A surgical nurse! That’s awesome. I guess you kind of knew the best and worst of what to expect, but sounds like it was rough though. I do have a question though ... what’s a tornado? Something that takes you to Oz?

Waking up from Surgery. Any Tips?
Hello All, Surgery for me in 1 short week....dealing with a mixture of excited butterflys fluttering and heavy worrying rhinos thumping in my belly. The big thing is coming out of Surgery. I don't usually do too well with Anasthesia. I linger FOREVER between here and there, in pain, nausiated, trying to come out, suffering, ringing in my head, struggling, its AWFUL! I dread it, and it's keeping me up tonight... Any tips for how to elegantly wake from Surgery? What helps you? Comforts you? Looking for anything to help me coup with what is ahead? Anything that helped you? Any thoughts, techniques or things you discussed with the Anesthesiologist? Grasping at Straws here, trying to mentally prepare...
