When I was morbidly obese I had some terrible falls. A tiny bump in the footpath would catch my toe and I would come crashing down on my hands and knees.
This morning while walking and emailing (yes, stupid) I tripped on a speed hump on the road. My body tipped really far forward and I waited for the pain.
Instead, my body totally corrected itself. I wish I could describe the feeling better. It was like my body had total control. My brain said stay upright and my body complied. It was exhilarating.

While you may need to give it up for a while you may not have to forever. This is just me but I am almost 8 months out and I eat 1-2 measured cups of smart life light popcorn everyday. I lose pretty consistently and for me it's not a slider food, I do eat a bit of cheese for Protein with it because I never eat anything unless I have Protein. I have lost 115lbs so far.
Now I will say if having a bit of popcorn for you opens the door to overindulge then it's probably best to stay away from it. For me I am good with a measured out bit to satisfy that crunchy desire.

I already know... mine is gonna be popcorn - I'm a popcornaholic. I seriouly am - I can withstand almost everything else turn it down and ignore it... but popcorn... I'll just have to make sure that work extra hard to resist that urge after my surgery.
I can't wait! I'm sooo excited that I finally got my date and start this part of the journey!

I don't think there are any of us who struggle with those issues who wish we had put the surgery off - just food for thought.

Like I posted a short time ago, my hardest habit to break, are carbs. I want crunchy, salty things, which after the first 6 months, now 9 months out sleeve, I did not touch. Now that they are allowed, I want them and crave them, having a very hard time staying away from them. I am seeing a psychologist, so in time hopefully this will be a habit behind me forever. I am tired of obscessing over something and caving in. I will even go to a store to get it, if it is not here.

Just for the record... We tend to overestimate calorie burn... Running a 10k (which is just over 6 miles) will burn about 600 calories (regardless of pace... 100 calories per mile is a good estimate... You just burn it faster if you run faster).
That said, I'm also in the moderation camp. Go for the kiddie size! Just don't get into the habit of eating whatever you want after running! I put on about 10lbs during a training cycle doing that! Took it back off, but just be careful!

@@BCs 1000 - if you just ran 10.5km, in my book, yes that warrants a kiddie size Rocky Road

Disclaimer - This is just a Friday night bit of fluff, not a serious nutritional question.
I have read on these forums that our bodies can only absorb a maximum amount of Protein in one hit.
So what about carbs & calories? If I ate a lot of calories in one go, would my body not be able to absorb them all? Would my body absorb less of 500 calories if I ate it in one go than if I spread it out over five days?
Or is this just wishful thinking?
I am craving a really big icecream Specifically a Baskin Robbins Rocky Road. I had one 15 years ago and all of a sudden I can't stop thinking about it. I am not even sure it still exists.

Your body will absorb every single one of those calories. That said, I am not one that believes in total abstinence or substitution because no matter how many work around you try to eat, you will end up consuming that ice cream, too.

Go get a kiddie sized and enjoy it. Don't bring it home, don't eat it in your car, eat it at the place and eat it slowly so you actually taste it. I think half my problem with obesity was how quickly I horsed my food down. I was never satisfied because I never enjoyed it.

If you want more, it will be there next week, next month, next year. Eat a little and follow it up with a jog, a hike, a swim. Or better, exercise in advance and then treat yourself to a bit of Rocky Road.

Yeah, I think that's my ultimate goal, but after losing tons of weight and getting to that size multiple times, just to gain it all back several times, I'm starting to think it isn't reasonable, and I should be happy as long as my bmi is in the healthy range.

Count me in! I was scheduled to have my sleeve surgery tomorrow, but I have a bad chest cold. When the anesthesia dept. called this morning for the pre-op check-in, the NP listened to me cough and said no way would they do surgery on me at this point! With their requirements and my schedule, I'm rescheduled for July 18th. I just finished my 2 week pre-op, liquids-only diet but of course can't keep doing that until july 18th! I need a way to encourage me to stick to healthy eating before I go back on liquids-only (July 4th) so this is GREAT!!!

We don't have any junk food in our house, but our kids do eat bread, rice and Pasta. I can't rid the house of those foods. They are all quite thin and need carbs as an energy source. I am the only one in our house that needs to eat less.

Went to buy some new clothes since I looked like a ghost floating around old rags, and I was amazed I could fit in sweat shirts/shirts and jeans that looked ridiculously tiny to me. Kinda nice!
