tinatina119 got a reaction from msramonda in 30 day out
Seems like I'm reading something I would have posted...I'm 37 days p/o 32lbs down and my eating/drinking habits suck! Im still learning as well. Seems like the only things my stomach agrees with are things I shouldn't have...in desperate need of some great food tips

Agreed. Swimming / Water aerobics was my first post-surgery workout of choice.

I swim and do Water aerobics. Once my incisions healed, I got back in the water.

tinatina119 got a reaction from BigTink2LilTink in Anybody using the unflavored protein powder?
Hey everyone.....quick question. Is the unflavored Protein Powder really "unflavored"? I'm an extremely picky eater and all Protein powders/shakes are absolutely disgusting to me. I heard about the unflavored powder through here....anybody tried it? If so....what did it taste like?

Med pro Protein Powder is a good unflavored powder you can add to drinks Soups and any soft foods. It does not change the taste or consistency of foods or drinks

I just hit 3 weeks on Tuesday of this week an am eating soft foods. I also am not a fan of the sweet drinks and have done well with mushy Soups (bean Soup that is mashed) and cottage cheese and canned tuna (about 2 spoons of each mixed) I know it sounds gross but so much better than the sweet stuff! I have lost 15 lbs, but have hit one of those stalls this week.

The importance of your Protein is more than weight loss right now its so your body can heal, I was struggling with a few protein brands too and Was struggling to get the minimum 60g my dr wanted, I actually switched to the premade Premier Protein shakes @ costco (choc, vanilla & strawberries & cream) the best thing is they are 30g so I just needed to drink two a day. I also suggest you call your dr office & let them know your struggle with protein so they can get you on track, I wouldn't wait & they wouldn't want you too either Hope this helps, & Best wishes too! ????

I hate all Protein Drinks too, except premier - the chocolate is the best! I tried an "Oh Yeah" brand today... nope - ugh. Try premier if you haven't, and/or Unjury chicken Soup. Or eat lots of Greek yogurt. Good luck!

Try carnation instant Breakfast Protein powder- sugar free 13 G protein and if you use fair life milk it's another 9 grams of protein - I hate all protein drinks ( spent a fortune since my surgery aug 3) - so far this is the only one I can stomach!! Good luck!

OK. Go and get some unflavored Protein powder, mix it with Water, add the water-enhancer drops you can get at most grocery stores, and drink it!!! You can change up the flavors as you like, mix them together, just get it in!!! You need at least 60g per day, and spread it out throughout the day. You can find unflavored Protein Powder online, and at nutrition stores. I also mix in my powdered Calcium and benefiber to get in all my extras I need daily. Good luck to you!

    tinatina119 reacted to sll5046 in 17 days out...I think I'm depressed
I am 20 days post op and I have good and bad days. As each day goes by the good days are starting to outweigh the bad. Most of my issues are emotional in that I sometimes feel depressed also. I am struggling with getting my 60 grams of Protein and each day is a challenge. I am so tired of Protein shakes so I don't want to drink them but I am forcing myself because I have to. And when I can't reach that Protein requirement I get sad and so frustrated with myself. Basically, I feel very much the same as you described. I think what can help you stay positive is to concentrate on your successes with the weight loss and take each day as a new day to do better ????.
As for the pain your are experiencing, I agree with most of the comments in that you should notify your surgeon. Good luck and great job on the weight loss!
Also, when I had trouble with Water, I found that ice worked wonders for me!

This is the new world. From now on eating will not be the same as it was. You will learn how to avoid misery from food habits and choices but you will forget from time to time until the new world gradually sinks in. I hate when that happens. But most of the time I can avoid pain and nausea. You learn to listen to your body and heed it's messages. You know it's worth it. Relax. Eat/drink more often and less. Good luck.

Hi everyone my name is Becca and I am almost 6 months post surgery. I started my journey at 390lbs I was at 368lbs day of surgery and today I weigh 288lbs. I still have problem with nausea when I try to increase food so I am still at 3oz but it works for me. Overall my journey has been joyous and I have one bit of advice. Celebrate every little victory and those will not always be on the scale. Tying your shoe for the first time in years, crossing your legs, being able to go into a non-disability toilet stall and close the door without squishing yourself, etc! I am taking classes right now to become a health coach and will be happy to help in anyway I can.
