DaisyAmy got a reaction from sc101071 in Nervous -- How about some stories on how much better you feel?
Hi. Im down about 100 pounds since my highest. We are currently driving homegrown a week in Disney, where I walked miles and miles. Never wanted to stop, never had to take pain meds, never even gave a thought to what kind of seat the ride had or worried about who my ride partner would be and if we would fit. I never turned down an adventure because I was too tired.
I'm off all prescriptions now and have a ton more energy.
This adventure is soooooo worth it!!

Absolutely. Just had a salad tonight. Ate the grilled chicken, some feta, walnuts and dried cherries. Not much room leftover for lettuce and the waitress was concerned there was something wrong with my food, but that's pretty much how salad goes for me these days!!

Exactly! He has been the perfect husband through this all - so supportive, never negative, complimenting in the way that makes you feel amazing without feeling like he thought you were hideous before, so proud of me, supporting my decisions..
    He deserves the same respect.

I have had a handful of other surgeries previous to my sleeve (spinal, gallbladder, a miserable hysterectomy recovery, etc), so I felt like the sleeve was a cinch. I only took 3 doses of the pain meds they prescribed (liquid nastiness!). Mostly, it was just incision pain that hurt for a minute when I got up from sitting the first day or two. Sitting and laying down was relatively pain free. I was driving and running small errands by day 3.

Yes, it's very common. Never trust a fart . liquid in, liquid out.
You'll kind of miss these days when the Constipation phase kicks in. It all resolves in time.

I've been prescribed Nystatin powder and cream to use in the loose skin areas. It helps a lot. Depending on your insurance, you may want to keep note of these issues in your medical records for possible skin removal at some point.

I just came back from Disney and had zero issues - although most rides there are very Pooh friendly. We were at Six Flags at spring break and had no issues there, either. I am 5'6" and 215 now.
I used to have such anxiety about it and would avoid certain rides. It was so nice to not even give my size a thought!!
    ETA: Have a blast!!!!!

It's hard to wrap your mind around it, but you really don't have to say goodbye to everything - just (maybe) I'll see you later. Many of the things on your list you can have! We eat at BWW often. I usually now get the naked tenders though. Middle eastern? Still can be really healthy -skip the rice. I used to love so many of the things on your list, but they become less appetizing in time. I promise. And some things, I've had small bites of. Usually, it's not worth it. Wishing you all the best. And have some of that Mac and cheese for me! [emoji38]

Wow. How awful to wake up to find your surgery wasn't completed! Why weren't they able to complete it?
Will you be using a different surgeon? I'd definitely do it again if the surgeon felt confident that things would go smoothly this time around. Another surgery is a small price to pay for a lifetime of health.
    Best wishes to you!

Yes, it's a very common issue. My dr recommended Colace (up to 4 a day) and Miralax as needed.
You might want to call your dr and see what they recommend. Constipation is no joke on this journey!!
It does get better post op once you can incorporate some fruits and veg back into your diet

DaisyAmy reacted to Alex Brecher in Please Read: Keep BariatricPal a Safe Place
I started the BariatricPal forums to create a safe place for everyone in the weight loss surgery community. It is for pre-op and post-op patients, for patients of all types of WLS, and for anyone who supports the WLS community. I want you to be able to come here for advice, encouragement, support, and information without worrying about being judged.
I have a zero-tolerance policy for rudeness, and you can see the guidelines in the Forum Rules.
Recently, there have been several instances of members being disrespectful or downright rude. Examples include:
Stating or implying that a poster is doomed to failure or not ready for WLS because he or she asked a certain question or is engaged in a certain behavior. Telling people that your way is the only way, and any other way means the member deserves WLS failure. Discriminating against “newbies,” such as letting a newbie know that you don’t think he or she will succeed, or asking only “vets” to reply to a certain thread. (Reminder: you can always choose not to follow the advice of someone you deem unqualified to give it). The vast majority of BariatricPal members do a phenomenal job making BariatricPal the warm, friendly community that I dreamed of when I started it. Thank you! Besides being sure to be polite and respectful, here are some additional ways to help.
If you see an offensive post, please consider the following.
You do not need to respond. Instead of giving a rude answer and escalating the situation, you can simply choose not to answer. You can report the post by clicking on the “Report” option under the post. A forum moderator will look into the situation and may delete the post or ban the member if the member continues to post inappropriately. You can send the member a private message explaining that you felt the post was inappropriate, and explaining why. In many cases, you may be surprised that the member did not even realize he or she was being rude. Please also think twice before you respond to any questions or other posts. It is possible that you could write a post that is genuinely meant to be helpful, but the person could accidentally interpret your post the wrong way. Try to remember that:
It is very difficult to communicate a specific tone in writing. You may write something that you think is helpful and understanding, while someone reading it might take it as bossy or judgmental. Emoticons such as smiley faces can help. You can also add a sentence to explain that you are only offering a suggestion or sharing your own experience and that you are not trying to judge the OP. The OP might be in a vulnerable situation. They may be panicking about a worrisome symptom. They may be in turmoil about whether to get WLS. They may be freaking out about a stall. When they’re upset, it’s easier for them to misinterpret your well-meaning post. Thank you for doing your best to keep the environment at BariatricPal positive, encouraging, and open. We all need a place to go for help and support, and I want the entire weight loss surgery to feel comfortable using BariatricPal for advice and encouragement.

It's a shame that education on appropriate diets isn't universal across all surgical plans. Sorry you felt bad, but glad you didn't do any permanent damage and lesson learned. I would stick to soft soft foods and no rice for a long time. I'm 7 months out and still don't eat rice. It's just not what I want to put in my body.
