I feel your pain. I have been on the full liquid diet for 7 days, and shakes plus a very small supper for a week before. The past two days have been bad as it is the weekend! I have dropped a lot of weight in the two weeks, but it is still super hard. Yesterday I spent over and hour reminiscing about all of the things I could imagine eating, and tonight I was thinking about it again. I still technically don't have to start the diet for another week but figure I will lose my weight faster if I just start now.
Each doctor has there own set of guidelines, and I believe they each give you something a bit special. Mine allows coffee, and your allows a cream Soup, which I would really enjoy about now. But what can we do? Quit, just like every time we have given up before? I just keep reminding myself, nothing changes if nothing changes. One day months from now I will be able to have a couple bits of something normal without feeling like I need to eat the entire oversized plate. Hopefully, I will be happy, satisfied and not give it a second thought. Tonight that is worth it to me.

. Thanks Alex. I never considered that the sleeve would affect absorption. I'm going to my RA doctor in a few weeks and I want to ask her if she's had any patients do WLS and if so what path they chose. I do have to take immune suppressors to keep my pain and joint degeneration at bay. Great point! Thanks so much. If I can have great results with the band I like how non invasive it is and the fact that it is reversible in case I have an reaction or complication due to my RA.

@@ktscott Thanks so much! Good luck to you too!
I think it will make a difference, but as @OKCPirate said, there is that factor of genetics. I didn't think about that. Very good point!
I have pretty good skin on my face, I rarely go into the sun, and moisturize moisturize moisturize! But basically, 45 years of stretched skin everywhere else, has me looking like the saggy baggy elephant already. LOL Hey, at least I can laugh at it. I've been morbidly obese at least since high school. I graduated 30 years... a longgggg time ago in a galaxy far far away. That's a lot of years of stretching.

. That's what I was thinking also. I have been over weight since I was 8. I'm 30 now but I've only been morbidly obese for I'd say 3 years so I'm hoping maybe that will make a difference. Good luck with the rest of your journey!

I haven't decided on with surgery to have yet and I'm sure all WLS can cause it due to speedy weigh loss but I was wondering if 100% of patients has this problem? Would you mind sharing your starting weight height and age? I realize this is personal but I know these must have alot to do with how much loose skin you will have. Thanks:)

. I agree healthy and being smaller trumps loss skin. I'm just concerned that I'll be just as self conscious about it as I am about being over weight. Just trying to work out all the negatives in my head now so I'll be mentally prepared when the time comes

I so wish I would have made this decision when I was 18. I missed out on so many adventures because of low self esteem or physically not being able to do it. I am 30 just starting the process. My family is also 100% about food. Almost all of my family has a food problem. I'm really worried about Thanksgiving too. We also have family night every Tuesday where we get together and eat together. Every get together is planned around a meal. Good luck on your journey!!

I wish they offered the bypass here but they don't. So I'm thinking Sleeve at this point. Losing my stomach is very scary but I think it's the better than the band.

I am in the middle of planning a Thanksgiving dinner with my family (had surgery on Aug 17th and I will be 3 months out).

So far it hasn't bothered me at all that people can eat until they are bursting and I can't.

I will have bites of the things that I love (turkey, mashed potatoes and sweet potates) and I will be full and satisfied.

I have no plans to stop being social! I will just eat less.

I'll jump on the "band" wagon here. My insurance company pays for WLS, but specifically not the band because of all of the difficulties and eventual revisions that have been experienced. May be another thing to look into.

My surgeon does not even do lap bands anymore, and said many of the surgeries he does today are revisions from band to sleeve or bypass.
