  1. I was planning on taking a very attractive MuMu (House Dress) for the ride home and bringing a pair of slip on shoes/flip-flops. Yep... I am going for the supermodel look...Will pack the lip balm just in case. I am having a hernia repaired at the same time. Do you think the one hour car ride home will hurt that? Oh... I am just trying to find something to worry about I guess... Seems like every little thing is getting to me now. Doing well on my pre-op today though. No slips at all yesterday or today!
  2. LipBalm? Why? Also, my DH will be my rolling luggage.
  3. Unfortunately, two women I work with had bypass and lost really fast, only to gain. Think that is the #1 benefit of the band... we can always have a fill.
  4. Ok, so I have been married for 12 years. Love my DH and would never leave him for anyone else in the world. But I must admit that I have mind crushes on other people. I love to pick fights, discuss, read posts, and learn about some people. I just love the way some people think. I must admit I have a mind crush on someone in this forum... I am not a stalker, I am not a psycho (or at least I don't think I am), but I read every post Jack makes on this forum. Every time I see The Simpsons I think of Jack. I love the way Jack thinks, explains, interprets, and enlightens the masses of LBT. I love you Jack! Anyone else have a mind crush... Or, am I psycho??
  5. From someone that has been on low carb for way to long... try Super Colon Cleanse by Health Plus. Two pills a day keeps everything moving great! (Lord help you if you take it like it says to... I only did that once.) And for post band... they make powder....
  6. "a sports bra (doc said no underwire for a few days)" Yeah... the girls will be set free... Don't even think I could put a sports bra over my head after surgery. Thank you for the list. What is the best kind of broth to get? Do you have a favorite? I am also thinking about one of those little mini food processers. I think that would make a smooth chicken salad for post op. Also, I keep reading about the gas-x. After my appendix surgery I did not get any gas pains, is this one going to be different?
  7. Ok... Atkins it is... I am getting very scared now... my date is so close... I am doing this for my own good, but I'm really wondering about what the heck I am about to do to myself. Normal, I guess???
  8. I had a back injury at age 19. Five disks out in my back, "too many things wrong to touch it". Was on so many meds it started effecting my liver. So they took me off of it and sent me to rehab for my back. Thousands of dollars later... I do Yoga (modified), Richard Simmons stretching to the Classics, Swim when I can, and take Formula 303 every day. It does not hurt my liver, and helps with the spasms/pain. It also helps me sleep. I use ice when I hurt really bad, and NEVER use heat. You can get the Formula 303 at a chiropractors office, or off eBay. If I am in a pinch I will get Valerian Root from Walmart. That might be a starting place. If the Valerian works for him, then the Formula 303 will be heaven. God bless....
  9. Yeah, I wanna be able to get away with this... but maybe not in public... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4620&stc=1&d=1147483150
  10. "PLEASE BEGIN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO PREPARE YOU FOR LAP BAND SURGERY Begin the Myocel Protein supplement two-three weeks before your surgery. Take two scoops 2-3 times each day. This will prevent your liver from tearing during surgery. If Dr. Benavides feels there is a chance your liver might tear, we will reschedule your surgery. DECREASE THESE IN YOUR DIET: Ø All fats including butter, fatty meats, fried foods, whole milk products Ø High sugar foods Ø Carbonated drinks Ø High carbohydrate foods such as breads, starches" So this basically means go on Atkins Induction + Myocel Drinks AT LEAST two weeks before surgery... I have read that others are put on a liquid only diet... that is not what I read here... am I right?
  11. As I was eating my preband version of Mu Shu Pork and Hot and Sour Soup tonight I was wondering about this postband. I do not put the crunchy things in my soup, nor do I eat the rice... and can live without the pancakes. Do you think I can eat this after being banded? Of course, I think just the soup will fill be up after being banded...
  12. Cowbay1: Don't feel too bad. I started on low carb on the first, and went totally off the deep end tonight. My hubby said he won't divorce me yet since it was his idea... but I am back on tomorrow. I figure we need to do the best we can right now, and get REALLY serious two weeks pre-op. When is your surgery? Love this thread BTW... advice is great!
  13. Ok, thought I would bump this one up for info. Also, If you were banded in Decatur did they make sure everyone was in network? (I had my appendix out and the pathologist was out of network... ) Any and all info appreciated!
  14. Holy heck... I just realized I have 30 days until my surgery...
  15. Well, I am in it but good now. My date is set, my Myocel is in, my husband is ready, I am on my low carb diet, taking my meds, etc. They will have to cut me open one way or another this summer (for a hernia), so I might as well be banded while I am on the table for that. Guess I will take a chance and just be the best bandster I can be.
  16. Well I went off the deep end in the Medical Study forum, but thought that I should put part of it up here for more exposure. I really want to know what you think about the following: Why do people erode? Do they eat to much and put pressure on the band? Do they eat the wrong things/not chew enough and make the little pouch work to hard to get things thru? Why do people have slips? Vomiting? Non-Compliance with the rules? If I am a perfect little angel, do everything right, no cheating, no over-eating, only eat what I am allowed to. Walk the line, stay on the wagon, and sip sip sip and chew chew chew... will I still lose my band? Is it the bands fault or that of the user for the failure of the Lap Band System?
  17. Oh yeah... peanut butter and a little splenda wrapped up in a crape... too die for!
  18. Does anyone have experience with the vitamin wafers? Do they work with the band?
  19. UhOh, should I stop the cleanser and just stick to the Milk Thistle? The Milk Thistle has actually brought my cholesterol under 200 to 188, so I really recommend that one! Figure the baby food will keep me honest on mushies, don't have to worry about not chewing enough, and will need to be really hungry to eat that crap. :eekB: I had my apendix out a few weeks ago and they found a hernia, which Dr. B will repair for me, so I am ready to get this over with. I must admit that I have had several "last meal" WEEKS in the past six months, so I am truly ok with this. After reading another thread about cheating, my hubby says he will leave me if I don't stick this one out for the month AND for the post op things... so I must be good or train another husband. (Talk about too much work.) Thanks for all the support. Appreciate any other advice you may have...
  20. Well my surgery date has changed. So I am on the wagon but good now... How soon before your surgery did you start your changes? Did they help? Here is what I have done so far... Started Milk Thistle, Liver Support, and Liver Cleanse Vitamins in October. Also take Multivitamin, and B-Complex Vitamins daily. What I have done today... CHEATED LIKE A BIG DOG... Grandy's bisquits, and Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. Will do low carb dinner to get ready for tomorrow. What I will start tomorrow. Low carb under 20 grams like I am used to. Will cut back the fat and butter on top of that. Isopure and whey protein shakes for breakfast, etc... What I will start two weeks pre op. Myocel Shakes, like Dr. B orders. Figure this will give me 3 weeks low carb, 2 weeks Myocel low carb, and vitamins to boost up everything else. What do you think? Any other suggestions to get ready food/vitamin wise? (I already have all of my bandages, baby food, jello, shakes, soups, baby cereal, etc...) Thanks for the help. Oh and by the way... I am 300lbs exactly this morning, so off we go...
  21. Just a question, but what about a protein shake? My ISOPURE shakes fill me up right now, and I am not banded yet. Seems to me that an extra shake here or there would be better than solids this soon post-op. Please correct me if I am wrong, and forgive me for chiming in pre-band...(I may feel totally differently one week out, but it is just a question.)
  22. Interesting Powerpoint to view if you want to: http://www.drbenavides.com/Powerpoint/LB%20Patient%20Ed%20Slides_files/frame.htm
  23. Keri, How are things going with your band/pouch? Right as Rain again I hope. Dr. B wants to move my surgery up a week. YIKES! I need to get back on the wagon and quick!
  24. What happens if you don't have an endoscopy prior to surgery? I have not had one, and my surgery is a month and a half away.
  25. I have BCBS-TX TRS Activecare and they approved me for lap band. :bananadoggywow:
