  1. I was feeling great until I drunk a protein shake, now i am nauseated. I feel good when I get my protein from other things, like pudding, scrambled eggs, and soy milk. Can't wait until regular food stage. Makes you not want to drink any protein. I'll make it, but nausea is not my thing.
  2. There is a thread on here titled "Tricare Advice" by Char, and it is very informational for retired and active duty. It helped me when I sought to revise, and I followed her instructions, and it was smooth saling from there. The thread is called Tricare Advice and it is about a year old. Just google "tricare gastric sleeve", for some reason I can't find through the search on here.
  3. Yes, I had mine done on 2/27/12 at Moncreif Army Hospital at Fort Jackson. I was a lap-band revision, so I did not have to go through too many ropes. I had to see the NUT, had an upper GI and EGD, echocardiogram. I saw the surgeon on January 31, 2012, and was scheduled for surgery on 2/27/12. Very easy process for me, we are tricare retired, but I did not have to go through tricare at all. I called the surgery center and they took care of the everything. I will pay 34.05 out of pocket for the hospital stay. I am two weeks post op, and feel great, some acid. You will love your experience, they treat you real nice. For the lap band it was about three months before surgery. This was a civilian doc in Atalnta. I had to see a pscyh, Nut, Lung specialist, sleep study, and I had already worked out for months to lose. My PCM knew this and passed on the information. This was tricare approved, because we were still active duty in 2008. My doctor at Fort Jackson told me that since I had the lapband already, it would be a shorter wait time. If you are new to WLS, it will be probably about a 2-3 month wait. Tripler may have a longer wait time, because of more patients and not as manysurgeons. My mother-in-law and father-in-law live in Guam and my father-inl-aw has been to Tripler for surgery a couple of times. I don' think your wait time will be that long.
  4. I buy from ebay too, and you are right, I worried at times, will it fit? I am an ebay seller too, and when I lost weight with the lapband, I kept some of my vintage clothes instead of selling them. However, i can't wait to buy vintage off of ebay too, without worrying.
  5. I can't wait to be able to buy me a pencil skirt sut, a black one with a peplum jacket. A size 10 one.
  6. Awesome, you look absolutely wondeerful. I like your style too, the short set and shoes, tight. What an encouragement, thanks for sharing.
  7. Just got back from 2 week post op appointment, and the staples were taken out. The largest incision no longer stings/hurt, it was the staples. Also, she prescribed nexium for my acid. My weight today was 205. I will see the doc again in 4 weeks.
  8. I had some prisolec at home, and it really did not work well for the acid. I will see what the doc says tomorrow at the 2 week post op visit. How is the prevacid working?
  9. Today, I was 2 weeks post op, and I started pureed foods for one week. I can hardly eat anyting, full after two bites. I can have scrambled eggs on this level, and it took me all day to eat two eggs. Before preop diet 232, before surger 220, and 207 today. 8 more pounds until onderland. I am excited, about not being able to eat a lot at one sitting. I can eat every hour, but not a lot, and that is good. I see myself at goal already. Hitting the gym, if the doc says so, tommorrow. Also, had a lot of acid last week. Incisions healing, but was hurting. I willl ask for a acid reducer, which one is the best?
  10. @sleeve of steel, I am two weeks post op, and I appreciate your post. I was thinking the same thing about my weight loss when I am able to eat solids in two weeks. I know it will take me probably a couple of weeks to adjust, but in the past I had to eat to lose.
  11. Sleeve sister here too, same day. No, I have not felt bad about eat/drinking full liquids. I am bearly drinking or eating anything. You will be okay.
  12. Yes, I agree, start later, pureed foods like baby food. I will eat baby fruit stuff next week. Then after that its soft foods.
  13. I am a week post op and I had it all day yesterday, water helped a little, made through until today. Okay today, try just water, nothing acidic.
  14. It will get better, I was sleeved on the 27th too and I can't eat soft foods until the fourth week. I wish I could, I start pureed foods on MOnday.
  15. Thanking God for your good report.
  16. Wanted to add, at one time when I was lifting, I was 177, but I looked like I was 150, so the weight does not matter once you shed all the excess fat. I was 22% body fat at that time. This was before any weight loss surgery. So you will appear smaller, the weight will probably be larger, that is why I say wait until you see the scale at where you want it and then lift.
  17. Hi, lifting weights/working out will add muscle mass, and I love lifting weights too. I recommend you wait a little bit before lifting too heavy. I am a gym rat too, and weights will add pounds momentarily. It will even out in about 3 weeks, but if it bothers you, wait until you have lost a little more and then start lifting again, I will start lifting about 2-3 months out so I can give my body time to adjust. If its near your time of the month, stay off the scale, I know I gain up to 6-8 pounds of water weight, soon as its over I am back to normal. I am new with the sleeve 1 week post op, but had the lapband. Not new to working out at all, love it.
  18. I am one week post op and I revised from the band to the sleeve, the pain was not that bad, the incisions hurt a little more because they have to cut a little bigger to remove the band first, and then do the sleeve. Today I have slight pain from the incisions. The restriction feeling does not bother me, because I was already used to the lapband. The weight loss is much better than the band, I had my band four years, lost 71 pounds on it, and gained back about 35. I was 230 on the preop diet before the sleeve, 220, before surgery, and at one week I am moving toward 200. There will be some heatburn, nausea, but i felt that with the sleeve for years. I think you are making a good decision.
  19. Hi, thanks for your response, I don't blame you, I don't want to gain either. I am talking maybe increasing to 1000 calories 1100 max, because I will be going to the gym to tone up.
  20. Hi, I had a lot of heartburn yesterday, I am okay today. I drunk my Protein this morning. Will drink another 23 grams today. I want to lose weight, that is why i had the surgery, but my weight is coming off fast. I had the lap band before, and revised to the sleeve. My goodness, I am 5'9", and I weighed 220 before surgery, lost 10 pre-op (230), I am nearing 200 pounds. I have not been heavy all my life, I know how I will look at 160, and 170m, I had the surgery done to maintain my weight. I have HBP, High Cholestorol, and a knee injury that hurts if I gain over 200lbs. Sure, befoere I could gain 80 and lose 80, and gain most of it back in no time, once the knee goes out from running on it. My goal is 170, I look great at that weight and not mal-nutrition, 160 is pushing it, I look frail. I am in a size 10 at 170, and that is great for me. I am figuring that once i reach goal. I will up my calories. My question is will my capacity increase at 6months, so I can increase my caloric intake? I am a gym rat, always have been, just mainting weight was an issue. 165 would be my max loss.
  21. We are educators, and that is quite young, especially if you said she was not overweight. I have known a child since the fourth grade that is overweight (bigger than most women) and she is about 13 now, I would recommend it for her. However, my daughter is 14 and is medium size, but not big at all, she better not even think about it (she has the cutest figure). Don't want to judge, either but when it comes to age appropriate it must be necessary.
  22. I had sugery on 2/27 and it is hard for me to drink milk based protein shakes right now. I bought 2 bottles of Isopure the blue one, and it taste good. Not anything extravagant., but it goes down without burning or hurting.
