  1. Not being rude, but as an educator, you don't need to smoke at your age, and definitely not after bariatric surgery. You are mature now, because you made a great decision about health. Smoking is not healthy for you
  2. This was a good question; because I have wondered about the ones who had it 10 years or longer. However, that blog is a bunch of confusion. I am still glad I had the sleeve, I think if you maintain your sleeve we will live long and prospersous.
  3. I know this is about smoking. I used to drink two to three cups of hot tea a day, it had to be lipton and caffeinated. When I say cups I am talking about the large cut mugs, about 3 cups in one (love those mugs). However, I knew that caffeine would slow down my healing process, so I had to give it up. Do I want a cup of lipton tea, yes. But I can't do that to myself, having bariatric surgery is a committment, and if you are not ready, then wait. I can buy decaf tea, I will later on, 4 months out, just to be sure. I have a girlfriend who I have to run to the ER every now and then to find out why she is so sick. When she stops smoking she feels great, when she starts back she gets sick again. She has not had a bariatric surgery. So, if their are risks with smoking for bariatric patients, don't do it. A couple of drags is not going to destroy you, just talk to a therapist about it. My 2 cents.
  4. I was very tired on the preop liquid diet, but i made it. Try not to do too much and only do what you need to do.
  5. 5 days post op here too, and I can concur with your statement. I feel good, and it was not as painful as I had expected. We will make it through this. I am grateful to God for making this a little easier than the last lapband surgery.
  6. Don't regret it, can't wait to eat at 4 weeks. My incisions are sore and some gas pain, but overall I am doing fine, fluids going down good. I am sipping on soup and drinking Isopure protien drink, goes down without burning. Can't wait to eat soft foods too. After my 2 week appointment I will be or pureed foods for one wee, and then soft foods next week. After that. The weight is coming off, but I don't suggest getting on the scale if you just had surgery.
  7. You look great, definitely a difference.
  8. Well, I am 4 days post op, and my hubby got on me about sleeping on my tummy, my daddy. LoL! It did hurt once I turned over will not do it again until later.
  9. Hi, I had my surgery on the 27th too, and the gas pains are still here when I swallow. However, I take my meds if they linger more than 5 minutes. You will feel better soon, we can do this!
  10. Almost to tears, what a beautiful post. I have so many pictures of me and mine, and you are so correct.
  11. I had my surgery on the 27th too, and i did not have the chest pain, but I do have gas pain when I swallow. The nurse at the hospital told me to breathe through my nose and out through my mouth when taking pills, it worked. I can now swallow my meds when the gas pains hit. The chest pain, I would report to the doctor. Make sure its not gas pains, sometimes it can mimic like its in the chest. Former CHF survivor.
  12. That's great, did you have mini staples too.
  13. Hope mine heal the same way, thanks for your response.
  14. Hi, just wondering how long it took for your your incisions to heal? A couple of my incisions were a little larger than with the lap band, I am assuming because they had to take out the lapband and revise to the sleeve. I try not to look at them. Also, they glued them together and used small staples as well. I feel like I had a tummy tuck, because my tummy is firm, just looks a bit weird. My doc said the staples will come out at the first appointment. With the lapband I had dissolvable sutures. My doc said she removed some scars from the last surgery too, okay hook me up will you. I am grateful for that, but the mini staples look frankensteinish.
  15. I was like you good the first day, and the second day the meds were wearing off, that was my worst day. I am 4 days post-0p and feel pretty good, gas pains every now and then.
  16. Way to go, you are rocking that sleeve, I hope I can rock mine like you, 4 days post op.
  17. Yaaay! Rejoicing with you, Glad you were approved!
  18. I am 4 days post op too, and I feel good, sometimes the gas pains hurt, but I have the meds. My docs put me on full liquids for this week and I started it them yesterday, will be on fulll liquids for 2 weeks, then pureed, then soft foods/regular foods. Hope you feel better from the nausea, it is my worst feeling for me. Had if for about two days, pretty much subsided.
  19. Do it girl, i just did, away with the band.
  20. Tried not to get on the scale because I read you will weigh more after surgery, but I did and I have lost already, Loving my sleeve already, encourages me to stick to the plan. In four weeks I can eat solids, looking forward to eating a little bit on Resurrection Sunday (Easter), I love veggies and hope I can get some down then.
  21. Feeling good today, will take some meds for this gas pain. Getting the protein in was okay yesterday, and I will try to get more in today.
  22. Surgery is over and the pain was not that bad, I feel good 4 days post op, no weakness.Gettting down liquids pretty good. There is some gas pains at times, but I take my meds when this happens. Loving my sleeve already! To God be th Glory, and thanks everyone, learned a lot on here.
  23. Love taking pictures, when I was heavier only the top portion. With the lapband I took pictures, and I just revised to the sleeve on Monday. Watch out the mirror, mirror on the wall whose the fairest of them all! LoL!
  24. The same here, I can lose the weight, but will put it back on if I stop excercising. My life is too busy to exercise everyday. Also, I have a knee injury, and once the knee goes out, I am out of the gym for about 2 months. The surgery will help me keep the weight off without stressing over going to the gym. My gym time will be 3 times a week, I love the gym
