tssiemer got a reaction from MaryPh in Night time eating?
Someone in a thread told me to drink a bottle of Water and go to bed to avoid eating at night. Granted I drink the bottle of Water and go to bed at 9 or 9:30 otherwise I would sit and eat from boredom until 11 or so.

Thank goodness! I'm a jerky-aholic. I'm not big on game meats but my hubby is. I'm glad to know I can eventually start eating it again.

You could die going to work. Or sitting in her office. Or in the shower. I mean, as a mental health professional myself, that was completely inappropriate and ridiculous thing to say to you.

Speak with your surgical team. They will help you come up with a plan for what meds needs to be temporarily discontinued for surgery and what you will need to continue. Do not discontinue meds without checking with them. Even on meds you can and will lose. I take a daily antihistamine (Zyrtec). I sometime have to also take a second pill and/or benedryl. Antihistamine's slow your metabolism. Discontinuing them is not an option. I have chronic uteria & angeodema. Not taking them means I break out in head to toe painful, itchy hives and/or facial swelling. Even though my weight loss has not happened as fast as some, I still have been able to steadily lose.

I was in the pre-admit seminar at my hospital, and of the other two people, one didn't actually understand the surgery or what was going to be done to her. Both of the others were still having carbonated sodas -- one Diet Coke, one regular Coke -- and seemed surprised they were not going to be able to continue drinking them after surgery. Like, "WAIT, WHAT? But how will I manage that????" level of surprised.

The seminar I went to was crazy. It was very informative and some people asked really good questions but some people man, I was wondering if there were even in the same room listening to the Dr. Lol.

    *Update**
So my surgeon's office called insurance and found out they accidentally left out a year of my charts showing that I was overweight. So now they have resubmitted and hopefully I will have good news here soon! Keeping my fingers crossed.

No, we don't hunt. We buy beef roasts and bison roasts and we have a meat slicer. We slice the meat and use different jerky seasoning packets from Academy and/or Cabela's. We just slice the meat, marinate it, then dehydrate it. Once it's ready, we use our kitchen scale and divide it up into 1 ounce bags. We usually get about 28 ounces of jerky out of 4 to 5 pounds of meat. It works out to just under a dollar per ounce of high quality jerky.

Beef or turkey Jerky is actually and awesome snack to have, I'm gonna try to get a dehydrator this next year and make my own since I love spicy, I on a tight budget so I buy my Snacks bulk and divide them with a kitchen scale my wife bought me at Walmart, very simple: large package of jerky, cashews, and baby bel cheese, use scale to divide into 1oz portions, then you can alternate your snacks between the 3, when you look at the price on those Protein snack packs you realize how much you save, I also use good small freezer bags

I'm a year post-op and have been eating Jerky regularly for about 6 months now. In fact, my husband (who is also sleeved) and I eat jerky so often that we bought a dehydrator and make our own.

I had mine several years ago and different centers have different protocols, but yes, that is basically what happens.
When I had mine they woke me up half way through the night and gave me a cpap. That was as a good time for me to go to the bathroom, too.
Then, they woke me up in the morning. They had shower and bathroom facilities.

I don't know why not. It is high in sodium so that could be an issue. I am 4 months out and eat it once in a while.

I love premier Protein shakes and bars. I use them as Meal Replacement for two meals. My consult is Thursday. I'm trying to cut out what I can like caffeine, sugar and soda now so I don't have to worry about it.
