    I'm struggling with muscle loss.

I was told by my nutritionist that because of how much I work out, I need to up my protein and my fluids. To take in as much hydration as possible as this will cause your muscle to shed some of the Water weight. To build muscles, it takes a lot of fluids. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  2. I was told by my nutritionist that at 3 weeks post op, I could start to use a treadmill, elliptical, stair stepper, and mild Water aerobics. At 4 weeks I could start to do light free weights and resistance machines. At 6 weeks I could do boot camp. I would ask your surgeon what he/she suggests. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Dumb question?

I was told it is both a meal and a liquid. So I count the 11 oz as a liquid, and I still wait 30 minutes before and after it like a meal. It is my dinner. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Post surgery follow up care

Maybe your PCP will agree to do it. At least do the blood work to make sure you're good on that. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    This says it all..

@@K_aane, I totally agree. Visualizing is so important. I needed this thread to remind myself that I need to keep visualizing and taking it a day at a time and follow my plan and the weight will come off. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Mini gastric bypass

I had mini gastric bypass in Tijuana Mexico with BariatricPal TeamMX. My surgeon is Dr. Selim Jalil Illan Fraijo. I've been recovering well with no complications. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  10. It's called a stall and it usually happens around 3 weeks post op, as well as around other times during post op. It's your body getting used to losing weight. It's just trying to figure out what's going on. Stick to your plan and your weight loss will start again. I had surgery on 12/12/16. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Do you eat breakfast?

I have Oikos drinkable yogurt for breakfast most days. Other days I'll have one scrambled egg or cream of wheat (although even though it's very very filling, it's only 3 grams of Protein. So I don't do that anymore). I like the drinkable yogurts because I can start my day without cooking which allows me to do more with my day. And they have 10 gram of protein. Then I get on my old elliptical and do 20 minutes. Then I get some decaffeinated coffee and add 4 oz of Premier Protein vanilla that adds 10.8 grams of protein. Breakfast helps to get my day started. And the protein helps me exercise more and more. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Energy?

I did get tired during my first phase of my post op diet. But after emailing my NUT about it, she told me to try to drink 4 oz of the pre-made Protein shake. It was part of my phase two but it helped a lot with my energy. Then she told me to add V8 Splash Diet to also help, which was also from my phase two. But I didn't begin phase two until I was supposed to. Since then, I have had energy. I ask my NUT many and any questions. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

What Is Your Policy on Carbs?

I keep an eye on carbs. Right now my macros is set to 30% carbs 45% Protein and 25% fat. I have been told to watch my carbs. When I got to the purée stage, I was told I could purée Campbell's Chunky Healthy Request New England Clam Chowder which has potatoes. My NUT said that was fine. I still eat puréed Soup because I'm not at a stage where I can eat Soups without them being puréed. I usually get over 100 oz of fluids and between 80 and 100 grams of protein and about 70 grams of carbs, which is interesting to me because most of what I eat doesn't have carbs. My drinkable yogurt has quite a bit of carbs, and the soups I eat for lunch. The carbs may be helping me though, as I've been exercising more and more every week. Mini gastric bypass

A mini gastric bypass surgery is very similar to gastric bypass surgery, except that there is only one anastomosis instead of two anastomoses. There is still a pouch made, and there is the same restriction and malabsorption but less chance of complications and quicker recovery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Mexico Location's - Please Help

I had surgery with Dr. Illan and worked through BariatricPal Team MX. One of the best choices I have made in my life. Dr. Illan is one of the best bariatric surgeons in Mexico. And the surgical staff, doctors and nurses are attentive and care. The valets also make sure you have everything you need and are taken well care of. If you have a companion with you, the valets will make sure they are taken care of. They will take them out for food, or pick it up for them. They are never alone. I brought my daughter with me and I didn't have to worry about a thing. I spent 3 days in the hospital (Oasis Hospital of Hope), then spent two days at Pueblo Amigo Hotel and Casino. I was given the liquids needed for my stay at the hotel. The valets also took us out to eat and we did some shopping as well, including going to the pharmacy. One valet (Garab) also went and bought a nice basket full of stuff for the doctors and nurses at the hospital that me and my surgery sisters wanted to give to them as a thank you for all they did for us. I have had zero complications and can email my nutritionist (Stacy) with any questions. I can also email or call Bill with any questions, and if he doesn't know the answer, he will find the answer out. And if I have a question for Dr. Illan, he will respond to it personally. My best surgery experience. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  18. I would ask your doctor about that. Having any fruits in your post op diet so close to having your surgery is probably not a good idea for your healing pouch. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  19. I had mini gastric bypass surgery on 12/12/16. I have lost 26 lbs as far as I know (I weigh every Sunday). I've been on a stall for the last three weeks, losing a little over 2 lbs for two weeks, and last Sunday only losing close to 2 lbs. I have upped my exercising and can see the inches coming off. I'll just continue to exercise and get my fluids and Protein in. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Mexico doctors

I had mini gastric bypass surgery through BariatricPal TeamMX and Dr. Illan. I stayed in the hospital three days at Oasis Hospital of Hope. So three days and nights in the hospital. Then you go to Pueblo Amigo Hotel and Casino for 3 days and 3 nights. I agree completely with MissAimee. The valets are wonderful. The doctors and nurses are great and attentive. I was in the best hands. My HW was 298; my SW was 247; my CW is 227.6 lbs. And yes they speak good English. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  22. Hi Vicki, I had mini gastric bypass with Dr. Illan. Before my surgery, he came in and let me know that I am family and he and the surgical staff will take care of me. He has answered any and all questions I have had and I know he will continue to check up on me. He is definitely the best choice I could have made. He definitely cares and he does a fantastic job. I have seen the video of my surgery. He operates with great attention to detail. I couldn't be happier with my surgery or my recovery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  23. Sorry for the late response. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The suite was big and spacious. The bed was wonderful. I didn't get a chance to go to the casino, but we (my daughter and I) are already talking about going back for a vacation and to visit the wonderful people we met and who are now a part of our family, and we definitely want to stay there again. And this time I want to try to bring my mother. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  24. Where is this at? Which surgeon? This is about Dr. Almanza. He is not a good choice for a surgeon. There are news articles about him. 4 deaths and many patients ending up in ICU. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
