Hello I am New to this..
I was at your point in August of 2015. I decided enough was enough and I was tired of being 5'3 242. I was tired of always feeling like the fattest person at every event I attended. Tired of trying to wear corsets to look decent dressed up. I too thought 6months!!! That's an eternity away! I want this surgery NOW! TODAY even! But now that I'm 6 months down the road and will have surgery in 2 weeks I'm grateful for the 6 months. I needed those 6 months to change my mindset. This surgery I am convinced is 85% mental. I needed to change my attitude towards food and eating in general. And the 6 months flew!!!! So, congrats on starting your journey, to make the next 6 months go quickly work with your team, visit these boards often for support, inspiration and community and work on you and changing your relationship with food. And for me scheduling my pre op testing that was required by my insurance took a while so much of that time was needed to check off all my requirements before I was able to submit to insurance for surgery approval. ( I needed cardiology, Pulmonology, psychology clearance) Good luck and welcome!

Someone noticed!
Of course my partner notices my weight loss. But yesterday...someone else noticed! Someone who had no idea I was dieting or seeing a nutritionist! A co-worker said "Have you lost weight? I noticed last week but didn't say anything and this week I can definitely tell you have lost weight!" I was like wow! Thank you and yes I have lost weight, I have been seeing a nutritionist and have been on a serious diet since the 1st of the year. Wow, it really is showing that I'm working to lose weight! I can only imagine how it will show after surgery in 2 weeks!

Lets talk Tea....
So, I have always loved tea but with my liquid pre op diet I am crazy addicted! Let me just say I like tea with lemon and don't like sweet iced tea. I do love any green citron type teas, green tea with lemon. Earl grey with bergamot, Lady grey. I love Harney and Sons teas. Amazing! Their citron green and especially their Paris. The Paris is a black tea with vanilla and it's one of my favorite sit and relax with a cup type teas. I also love Mariage Fréres, their black teas are excellent! I do not however like any fruit type teas...berry etc. not my thing. My new thing is to brew a pot of tea when I get home from work and drink tea all evening Until bed time. And I drink at least 5 cups a day at work. I may need a program to detox me off the tea! Lol So what are your favorites? I may need to explore new teas!

The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!
Hi! Gas-x strips are small sheets you place on your tongue and they melt to relieve gas. I'm sure if you go to any Pharmacy you will find something comparable. Also ask the Pharmacist (chemist) and they should be an.e to help you find something similar. Or order online.....CVS.com, Walgreens.com

Post op in hospital question...
Thanks all! Yeah no baths with abdominal incisions until about 6 -8 weeks out but as long as I can shower I'm happy!
-
Post op in hospital question...
It just occurred to me that with my precious surgeries I have been allowed to shower 24 hours after surgery. I NEED to shower!!! If I want to feel like a human being I need to shower the morning after surgery even if I need to cover my incisions with tegaderm, I will shower. So, how long after surgery were you allowed to shower?

If there was a god, I would've pooped by now.
You can mix together equal parts prune juice and OJ and warm it. Drink it and don't leave the house! Good luck

Surgery Monday. I'm about to back out!
I completely understand your fears but you are focusing on all the negatives. Try to focus on what the positives will be after surgery.

Lets talk scales....
So after some research I did end up buying another Withings. What got me was that it will sync to My Fitness Pal. I use an Apple watch, not a Fitbit so I also was not sure how well the FB scale would work for my needs. I am excited to have a new accurate scale though! Come on Amazon.....get it shipped out! I also ordered more unflavored Protein powder at the same time....hahaha Surgery is fast approaching (February) so gotta be ready!

hi there!!! are there really gay people here?!?!?!?
Very sweet. My wife has never had a weight problem and as always been very athletic. She's been very supportive( I'm 2yrs out). She even refused to eat in front of me in my early days, but I had zero desire to eat so I told her to go ahead. She does not have a big appetite now so the majority of the time we go out, we end up sharing an entree. I'm in the same boat! My partner has never had a weight problem. But, I am the cook in the family and she is being great about dietary changes. At home she is carb and sugar free And I must confess she still eats bread ( sandwiches in her lunch so it's never eaten at home)but I buy her bread I don't like so I'm not tempted! ????????

Anesthesiologist Bill
This is unfortunately something that happens frequently. You make sure your surgeon etc is in your plan but not things like anesthesia. Also, if you are hospitalized you need to make sure that if they want another physician to see you that you make sure they are covered by insurance. As far as I know the only thing you can do is a payment plan.

hi there!!! are there really gay people here?!?!?!?
I'm hoping for early February surgery. ( insurance approval is pending) Right now I'm uber thankful for my supportive partner, she has given up sugar and carbs in solidarity because I'm on my liquid pre op diet. I think this thread needs before/ after pictures for everyone who has had surgery.

My diet is better than your diet...anyone still watching?
I finally saw risked with the new trainer. I Iike him!!! I'm not sure what the he'll is up with Taj but I think the wife situation is taking its toll and making her very negative. I feel bad for her. Jeff is frustrating! I know he had potential but he is seriously standing in his own way. He needs to say enough with excuses etc and just DO IT !

Wild diet sounds awesome and low carb but I don't think I could do butter in my coffee ????

My diet is better than your diet...anyone still watching?
Ok, so I really like Shaun T and that's why I started this show but I'm hooked. I have never watched weight loss reality tv before but I can't look away! I must say I was SO HAPPY to see CLEAN MAMA DIET finally go home! And I was appalled that she blamed the contestant for the diet failure! I felt so bad for her...not only is she working and not seeing any weight loss but she is then chastised by her " trainer". I also feel for Jeff, but his attitude adjustment seems to be working and he is losing! So happy for him!!
