  1. I used to be the one who was always squeezing my partners hand. That above mentioned flight to Charlotte her poor hand was red ???? But since I have started doing research, reading FA blogs, and articles written by Pilots I am much better! Sometimes I am the one calming my partner! What a change ???? I think a lot of my fear stems from my mothers fear of flying and seeing that as a child sparked that in me.
  2. I am also not beholden to the Hospital cafeteria to provide a decent meal. God knows that is always hit or miss!
  3. Yes!!! It's best to ask your surgeon and or nutritionist about caffeine amount and when. But you can also check out a recent thread on how we all make our coffee. It's pretty popular and a wealth of knowledge.
  4. Much like us, show up at the gate, 30 minute turn and look for something, anything to eat. McDonalds, Chipotle,...... some kind of fast food. Then we inhale it and sit in the seat for the next 3 hours get to the hotel knocked but up for bar food.I will say that now that I am doing my liquid pre op diet it's easier!I was just saying how much easier my mornings are because "packing a lunch" means grabbing protein shakes, broth and pre made high protein jell-o. So not only is it easier to pack but I'm always prepared which is HUGE for me. Hope you find it just as easy when you transition to pre op diet
  5. I agree, I always joke that when we hit turbulence I start praying more than a Nun doing stations of the cross! (For non Catholics that involves a ton of praying...like hours worth) I know turbulence is normal but sometimes I'm like ????. Once on a flight to Charlotte from Chicago we hit bad turbulence and it was not just the up and down variety but right to left rocking and I WAS SO DONE!! hahahaha I also watch tv or movies on my iPad or iPhone...strange enough I watch medical shows like ER. Things I can relate to! Lol
  6. Can you also pm me your other channel? I am always looking for good makeup tutorials .
  7. And let me also say it's common for Nurses to not have time to take a break due to very sick patients etc. what do we do? Eat the crummy snacks we stock on the unit. Graham crackers, jell-o, Juice etc....
  8. I truly think that as healthcare providers we are trained to always put others first. As a student nurse I had clinical instructors who actively advocated ALWAYS skipping your lunch break to spend more time with your patients. It's nice but you also need time for yourself to eat and be healthy. So we are always last on the list until one day we decide to make a change.
  9. Ok this is the very put together but chic look I aspire to...
  10. Ok it was finally delivered last night..I used it to blend my powdered protein this morning and I love it!!!!
  11. The primary look I want for weekend wear is actually featured in a Air France safety video! Hahahah only me ???? I will see if I can find a still... I'm a city girl and want that effortless chic look, sleek hair and a classic red lip. Ok the hair and classic red lip I have it's just the neck down that needs some tweaking! Hahahah
  12. So, a few of us have expressed a fear or apprehension when flying. Could you give us some tips and some "this is normal don't worry/freak out" ??? Fear of flying has come up on these hoards due to people flying to Mexico or other destinations for surgery. I have actually taken to reading some flight attendant blogs and watching FA videos on YouTube after a recent holiday flight with some yucky unexpected turbulence. The FA on that flight was great and reassuring when I was a tad tense so I figured if they can do this every day, multiple times a day I can too! Maybe it's just my personality and being a Nurse I don't like not being in control. ????✈️
  13. So brave! Ortho is the one thing that I fear as a Nurse...traction creeps me out!!! Give me a good cardiac drip or Code Blue any day just no Ortho! Lol
  14. I should also say that the reason I use protein shakes or powder in my coffee is because I loathe any and all sugar substitutes. I have tried them all and just nah.....
  15. I would love to know this too! I hope so because I'm tired of being "reprimand " every day that I'm not eating enough because I'm doing pre op and consuming about 600 cal a day .
  16. Welcome! Seems like you are off to an awesome start! I hope these boards are a helpful and you find them to be a wealth of knowledge.
  17. Oh I also watch stuff I can relate to when I fly....like ER or Greys Anatomy....stuff I can relate to ! Lol And sometimes I do need to squeeze my partners hand and I admit when there turbulence I pray more than a nun doing stations of the cross!!!
  18. Loved your video! I will keep an eye out for future videos also. I am an apprehensive flyer and what has helped me recently is to watch you tube videos and read blogs done by flight attendants. I figure if they can fly almost daily I can so fly every once in a while! One of my favorites on YouTube is TheFAlife. She even has a video on fear of flying.....good luck!
  19. I have been thinking a lot about how I want to alter my style post op when I am able to wear "whatever I want". I want to wear boots, lots of skirts, leggings and in general be even more girly than I am now. (If that's possible lol ) Anyone else thought about this?
  20. Ok, so I ordered my bullet the day I posted this thread...December 29th and Amazon still has not shipped it!!!! I'm losing faith in Amazon ????
  21. Congratulations! I started my journey in August also! I am scheduled for the OR in early February so we will run the gauntlet at the same time! Super cute photo by the way ????
