    Vitamuffins?

I'm curious about them too. Never had them but they look so good and have been wanting to try them..but I'm nervous too that my band may not like em lol.
  3. Fedz..I saw dr geiss a few times..wasn't impressed..I needed a fill and was told to "give it a month" then come back..sure enought I gained. I didn't go back..I found a new dr. Maybe its time u might consider that. I saw dr. Buchin in lake success..he didn't do my surgery but he said..ok we're startin all over..let's pretend this is the beginning now. And he worked with me..still does..takes the time to sit and discuss..tests my band fluid..maybe u lost some fluid, it happened..I lost a lil before. But he's generous with his fills..he makes sure its the right time tho which is why he sits and goes over everything with u first. But I've never been denied..I also see his nurse practioner sophia..she's amazing too. Like I said maybe u should maybe look into them. They're in huntington now..not too far from syosset.

How long does your swelling last ?

Hii. Well 3 days? U shouldn't be on solids yet. 2 days liquid. 2 days mushies and 5th day move to solids slowly. But even if oatmeal is hard to get down I would def go back..esp if things are "coming back up" that's a too tight sign. And could hurt ur band..try following the 5 day band test that I just mentioned. That's a requirement from my doc after each fill. Good luck
  5. The sweet spot doesn't mean u can't eat certain foods..I wasn't able to tolerate pasta with no fill also bread. There's just certain foods that expand or don't break down while in the band..doesn't make it the sweet spot. Just means don't eat it bc its a "problem" food. Are u continuing to lose weight..like 1-2 lbs a week? If so, then u may not need the fill right away..but if its slower and stalling a lil then I would get the fill. U should be able to eat food that's the size of ur whole palm/hand..minus the fingers. My doc made that visual connection for me and it helps..but yea if ur not losing wat u should then get the fill. Good luck

    How do you spit up?

whoaa.. dont stick ur fingers down ur throat..that creates a harsh gag and actually throwing up..which gives a greater chance of hurting ur band..like slippage..just a veryyyyy bad idea. if its stuck..drink, and swallow..keep doin it..!! it WILL come unstuck..just please please dont make urself actually throw up. bad bad idea!!:w00t:

    How do you spit up?

While I do agree with EVERYTHING hummingbird has to say..I do think u mean in the rare occasions u get something stuck and have to get it up. This does happen..but should not happen very often..if it does u need to be adjusted or rules aren't be followed or something. But in my experience when I get something stuck I take a sip of drink and kinda am able to do a swallow or fake burp kind of thing and that usually works very discreetly. Its very rare as I said if ur following everything to a T..but it does happen. By now I pretty much kno what I can tolerate..food choice wise..but sometimes if I piece of chicken is too dry and I don't realize or trying something new or the differences that something is prepared outside of my kitchen can make this happen. But yea, I understand that u don't mean u wanna kno how to do it all the time..just hard to explain..better to just excuse urself and fight it private to get things unstuck. Good luck
  8. I kno u feel that this idiot is a good motivator for you to prove hime wrong..but u need to get out of there. If they're inexperienced even with a fill which is a key componet for the entire thing then what if something happens..like a complication later down the road beyond ur control? What will they do or know how to do then? I wasn't 100 percent happy with my surgeon. Well I only saw him week b4 the surgery and morning of which he was late to. Mostly dealt with the nurse pract. And she was awful. So I let him do the surgery bc he was one of the best but I knew he wouldn't be doin the aftercare it woild be with his partners..so - met with them after surgery got my 1st fill and ran for the hills after that. I found a wonderful dr and his partners and staff are amazing..I actually look forward to seeing them. He's the surgeon but my appts are with him mostly bc he likes to see my progress even tho I wasn't his operation. So pleeeeease get out and find someone who's gona offer u that insight, guidence and support..we need it from everyone and anywhere we can get it.. But the all time first person and place should be from or doctor and their entire staff! Good luck and stay positive!

    Can you feel your band?

U won't feel ur band. The surgery is to "install" it. Its usually empty bc this is the healing time. 2 weeks after..usually when ur more healed u go to ur follow up and get a small fill and most drs fill a lil each visit til u feel more restriction. This is all bc if swelling and stuff..they can't just fill u from the get go bc u might not be able to swallow ur own spit. So its a process..while I was losing a lil all the while..I hit my sweet spot and really felt it after my 3rd fill..about 2 months after the surgery..that's when the weight loss really accelerated..good luck and lapband requires patience patience patience
  10. Spanx aren't a good idea right after bc u still have that gas in you and are swollen on top of it. I wear spanx religously also, I was able to get back to wearing them after 4 weeks. U'll feel when the time is right. U won't feel as bloated from the gas and stuff and your port area will be pretty much healed. I agree getting them on is a lil work out and they're tight as ur getting them up..I wear the high tummy ones that go up to below ur chest and I cringe at the thought of if I had to bring them up over my port area b4 it was healed lol. So yea, wait about a month..ur body will let u kno when its good to go throw those suckers on And as for the potty question..there's a slit for ya. But its one of those overlapping things so its closed when ur upright lol. So I guess ur supposed to not wear undies with them..personally I can't get used to goin comando so I just do the workout of gettin them up and down all day lol. Hey..any and all exercise helps right lol

Well I had to go back to work pretty quick too..and felt like I would fall asleep any moment..just try and get as much fluids as possible and I agree that special k protein mix was my best friend. Good luck..ull make it!!

    wow

havent really lost anything..but thank goodness havent gained anything back either. at a stand still again. my fault. ive been so busy with work that my work outs have really suffered and havent even glanced at weight watchers to write down my stuff i eat. but i walked tonight..that felt good. i have an appt for dr on the 22nd. so i want to lose at least 5 lbs by then. im back on track today..tomorrow for sure!!
  14. JennaJ221

    What do you eat?

Hii. I was a t a stand still, fluxuating between 5 lbs for almost a year. Very devastating. My dr kept telling me to up my exercise..and I didn't listen.. Then last month I had enuff and listened for once and worked out religously and dropped 11 lbs in a month..and actually ate a lil more on top of working out..I was eating about 900 cals a day but then moved up to 1100 and weight dropped off. Dr told me I needed to stick to that calorie count bc that one was makin me lose the weight opposed to the lesser one. Good luck
  15. My dr tells me how much too voluntarily. I aslo got a phot copy of their log of my fills so I can see how much was put in on what date. They may just be scamming u. I would ask for copys of ur medical records..ur fills must be recorded. And by law they have to give it to u. I would also suggest finding a new doc. Good luck
  16. So I just wanted to share something real quick with fellow walkers. A majority of my exercise is "power walking" 4-6 times a week for a lil over an hour. I started off at 30-40 mins and a few weeks ago pushed myself to walk longer. After I walked an hour and 15 mins one night my legs were sooo sore(in a good way) but my sneakers were not in the best shape anymore either. So I could really feel the shock in my knees. So the next day I set out to get some good walking shoes. Naturally..I steered towards the big fad of shapeups by skechers. I was sooo excited for these. Well..that was short lived. I have a high arch so I wasn't walking in them right and I almost fell, and I stand normally leaning a smidge to the outsides of my soles. So apparently shape ups are NOT for everyone. What a disappointment. So I found a another pair instead to recommend..they're the reebok tone ups. They don't have the big platform. Just padding on the ball and heel..looks a lil more fashionable. Anyone looking for a good pair of sneakers..I SWEAR by these..they're like walking on air..I find myself walking faster and longer anywhere I go!! Wearing them right now at work and I've never moved this fast with ease lol..check em out

    Time lines

On my own or thru my regular dr I would have to weight a year. Going thru the surgeons practice they were able to work with me aetna insurance and they only required 3mos if I went that way. So I did. I only had appts once a month..and then fulfilling the requirements in the last month and I was in. I started in december and was banded march 13th.

Can you feel the food pass through ??

i think i know what u mean. sometimes i feel almost like its going down into my pouch..not thru the band..but i can def feel pressure moving along thru my chest..not getting stuck just pressure making its way down..

    been on track

so happy because i feel back on track lately. last month i was 220 and struggling..now im down between 211 and 212 and havent scen that 220 ever since. i hated that number..so im very excited its finally gone and for good. so i have my dr appt friday..feelin confident that its going to be a good visit..i was stuck for so long that my dr is going to be thrilled!! well today was pretty good. had a good breakfast: protein shake snack:chicken broth lunch:weight watchers smartone. dinner:grilled cheese. i fell asleep after work (im up at 4am), i hate that because then i feel i dont wana do anything else for the rest of the evening and it keeps me up later than i should be at night. but i moved my ass tonight and went out and walked and got my exercise in..and i didnt half ass it..walked for 50 mins..so all in all im very happy with the day:smile2:
  20. Lost 70 lbs and I'm only down 3 sizes.
  21. Hi. I'm actually goin to disney in sept. For my vacations I always stay at a place where I have fridge access. If we eat out I always come home with leftovers so I have a place for them. I also go to walmart while I'm there and grab things I may need like lil snacks and protein shakes. But since ur goin for the meal plan..stick to ur small portions and stick to the stuff u should be eating and if u don't eat it all and can't bag it up for later then toss..its only food.. You'll be fine..don't overthink it..it shouldn't be an issue. Have fun on ur vaca
  22. Yea well we were friends at one point then we kinda became frenemies because of other instances with a joking attitude like that. She didn't think I should get it so that's where that comment came from. I think I probably did make a rude comment back..bc I couldn't have gotten in trouble..its a laxed atmosphere and noone gets in trouble..plus wat could she have done..that comment could have gotten her in trouble big time..she's lucky I didn't report it . Damn it..I wish I would have. Coulda shoulda woulda
  23. My manager at work (jokingly) told me I was going to die on the operating table. Wasn't a very good joke..I was terrified. She"s also called me a cheater.

    Are You Telling People?

Well from my experience. I was so excited when I decided to do this. I told my best friends and my parents, are the ones who actually suggested it to me and helped me, at first then when I got my date I was even more excited. And had no hesitation telling my aunts and other friends and some of my co workers. I was proud bc I was taking the right steps in my life. I've been overweight since I was 10yrs old.so it was nothing to me..didn't even consider that maybe it should be private. I didn't expect any kind of judgment from others. And then when I told my boss..we were good friends awhile ago..not so close anymore bc she was always kinda snarky. Well she's very immature and plays devils advocate every chance she gets..but she basically frowned upon it and told me I was going to die on the table. She was acting like it was a joke..but I took it seriously obviously..some joke huh? Anyways she's the only person who's ever judged me. Everyone at work (not everyone knos) complimentsd me they can all see a difference..but SHE refuses to say a word. She refuses to give any compliments or act like she notices. Its quite rude and childish but I don't expect any more from her. So yea..I kinda wish now I kept it only between close friends and family. Its been 3 yrs and just a few weeks ago she was talking about it to someone else bc a coworker was considering it and she was discouraging the coworker, which sees my results, and then she told the co worker I was a cheater. I simply pulled my coworker aside later and gave her the proper info and explained if getting banded was cheating that I"d be skinny by now..its just a tool and it takes time, effort, and aloooooot of work and dedication..far from cheating. She told me if she decides to get it she won't be telling anuyone..only me bc we'd be band buddies lol. So yea..I kinda wish I could go back and be more careful on who I tell. I've def experienced some discrimination..even from weight watchers. But I love and am proud of my band, and that's all that matters! Good luck!
