Please help (long) :(
Hiii. I'm almost filled to the max in a 5 cc band..I'm at 4.45..but haven't really been losing..not gaining either. I'm actually goin to the doc friday to see if I can get a lil more for a top off since I haven't had any adjustments since 2009. Maybe some leaked out or doc said when weight is loss u may need to get adjustments. So anyway..everyones different. Maybe chew more thoroughly so avoid stuck situations. Or I would ask for a flouro..where they can see what ur band looks like, maybe its slipped a lil hence not bein able to keep anything down..I heard that's a symptom. I would def go back tho and demand them to figure this out. Bc its not adding up that u can't keep anything down but ur also not losing. Good luck!

i need help and lots of advice
Go to a bariatrics place. They do everything for u..all my doc put was knee problems..which I didn't have and my bmi was high. And I was approved no problem..they'll at least work to get u approved.

Can someone please help me?!
Well how's ur weight loss been goin? If not so good its bc ur not eating and that starvation modes kicked in or will eventually. Plus u should eat bc u need ur Protein and Fiber..otherwise u won't feel so good. My doctor wanted me doing 3 meals a day but I found I was gettin enough protein and meeting the daily totals, so I do the 4-5 mini meals..3 meals and 1-2 Snacks a day with one of the snacks is usually a Protein Drink..a low cal one like myoplex lite. And at the beginning during healing I wasn't too hungry as well..ur still probably a lil swollen..but that will change soon..around the 5th week I was beginning to be really hungry and it took me a few times with the fills to be comfortable..it'll happen, just follow the instructions by ur doc, tweak a lil if u must to better fit you..bc everyone is different..just remember a lot is trial and error and it takes a lil bit to get the hang of it..its been almost 3 yrs for me and I finally feel like I got the swing of things. Good luck!!

Diet Coke
I was a diet coke addict for a very long time. And I had to give it up after surgery..wasn't too bad bc I xouldnt have anything rieally bc I was healing and didn't want anything. I'm 3 yrs post op and I have a few mouthfuls every now and then when I crave it. My dr said its not good but a tiny bit would be ok. I would not recommend drinking more than a tiny mouthful every once in awhile. Like I said it doesn't bother me when I do..plus its only like once a week or 2..but I wouldn't wanna chance it with any more than that.

STARVING at night only!WTH!
I agree..try uping ur calories. I played with mine..I found I too wasn't losing at 950 calories a day..now I have about 1200 and its been falling off..what a difference. And for night eating..go for healthy choices and something that's going to satisfy you and fill you up. I sometimes have a few grean beans or half a protein shake..I have the shake closer to bed time if I'm hungry bc I'm not comfortable with food sitting in my pouch all nite..I've woken up choking and spitting up in the middle of the nite and that scared me straight lol. Good luck

3 years in and not quite getting it still...
My lapband was done by dr. Davis at lawrence hospital in westchester. I don't think I was the exception. All I did was look up other lapband specialists and yes some did say they couldn't see me. But dr. Buchin totally took me with no issues. I just had to get all my records and bring them in for him. He's been amazing and I've lost over 60lbs with them so far and still going. So I highly highly reccommend him. He's part of lij and his new office is in huntington. Look him up or message me for his number. Good luck

Vitamuffins?
I'm curious about them too. Never had them but they look so good and have been wanting to try them..but I'm nervous too that my band may not like em lol.

3 years in and not quite getting it still...
Fedz..I saw dr geiss a few times..wasn't impressed..I needed a fill and was told to "give it a month" then come back..sure enought I gained. I didn't go back..I found a new dr. Maybe its time u might consider that. I saw dr. Buchin in lake success..he didn't do my surgery but he said..ok we're startin all over..let's pretend this is the beginning now. And he worked with me..still does..takes the time to sit and discuss..tests my band fluid..maybe u lost some fluid, it happened..I lost a lil before. But he's generous with his fills..he makes sure its the right time tho which is why he sits and goes over everything with u first. But I've never been denied..I also see his nurse practioner sophia..she's amazing too. Like I said maybe u should maybe look into them. They're in huntington now..not too far from syosset.

How long does your swelling last ?
Hii. Well 3 days? U shouldn't be on solids yet. 2 days liquid. 2 days mushies and 5th day move to solids slowly. But even if oatmeal is hard to get down I would def go back..esp if things are "coming back up" that's a too tight sign. And could hurt ur band..try following the 5 day band test that I just mentioned. That's a requirement from my doc after each fill. Good luck

Need Advice: To fill or not to fill?
The sweet spot doesn't mean u can't eat certain foods..I wasn't able to tolerate pasta with no fill also bread. There's just certain foods that expand or don't break down while in the band..doesn't make it the sweet spot. Just means don't eat it bc its a "problem" food. Are u continuing to lose weight..like 1-2 lbs a week? If so, then u may not need the fill right away..but if its slower and stalling a lil then I would get the fill. U should be able to eat food that's the size of ur whole palm/hand..minus the fingers. My doc made that visual connection for me and it helps..but yea if ur not losing wat u should then get the fill. Good luck

How do you spit up?
whoaa.. dont stick ur fingers down ur throat..that creates a harsh gag and actually throwing up..which gives a greater chance of hurting ur band..like slippage..just a veryyyyy bad idea. if its stuck..drink, and swallow..keep doin it..!! it WILL come unstuck..just please please dont make urself actually throw up. bad bad idea!!:w00t:

How do you spit up?
While I do agree with EVERYTHING hummingbird has to say..I do think u mean in the rare occasions u get something stuck and have to get it up. This does happen..but should not happen very often..if it does u need to be adjusted or rules aren't be followed or something. But in my experience when I get something stuck I take a sip of drink and kinda am able to do a swallow or fake burp kind of thing and that usually works very discreetly. Its very rare as I said if ur following everything to a T..but it does happen. By now I pretty much kno what I can tolerate..food choice wise..but sometimes if I piece of chicken is too dry and I don't realize or trying something new or the differences that something is prepared outside of my kitchen can make this happen. But yea, I understand that u don't mean u wanna kno how to do it all the time..just hard to explain..better to just excuse urself and fight it private to get things unstuck. Good luck

My Surgeon is Anti-LapBand or Anti-Me?
I kno u feel that this idiot is a good motivator for you to prove hime wrong..but u need to get out of there. If they're inexperienced even with a fill which is a key componet for the entire thing then what if something happens..like a complication later down the road beyond ur control? What will they do or know how to do then? I wasn't 100 percent happy with my surgeon. Well I only saw him week b4 the surgery and morning of which he was late to. Mostly dealt with the nurse pract. And she was awful. So I let him do the surgery bc he was one of the best but I knew he wouldn't be doin the aftercare it woild be with his partners..so - met with them after surgery got my 1st fill and ran for the hills after that. I found a wonderful dr and his partners and staff are amazing..I actually look forward to seeing them. He's the surgeon but my appts are with him mostly bc he likes to see my progress even tho I wasn't his operation. So pleeeeease get out and find someone who's gona offer u that insight, guidence and support..we need it from everyone and anywhere we can get it.. But the all time first person and place should be from or doctor and their entire staff! Good luck and stay positive!

Can you feel your band?
U won't feel ur band. The surgery is to "install" it. Its usually empty bc this is the healing time. 2 weeks after..usually when ur more healed u go to ur follow up and get a small fill and most drs fill a lil each visit til u feel more restriction. This is all bc if swelling and stuff..they can't just fill u from the get go bc u might not be able to swallow ur own spit. So its a process..while I was losing a lil all the while..I hit my sweet spot and really felt it after my 3rd fill..about 2 months after the surgery..that's when the weight loss really accelerated..good luck and lapband requires patience patience patience

spanx question for the ladies
Spanx aren't a good idea right after bc u still have that gas in you and are swollen on top of it. I wear spanx religously also, I was able to get back to wearing them after 4 weeks. U'll feel when the time is right. U won't feel as bloated from the gas and stuff and your port area will be pretty much healed. I agree getting them on is a lil work out and they're tight as ur getting them up..I wear the high tummy ones that go up to below ur chest and I cringe at the thought of if I had to bring them up over my port area b4 it was healed lol. So yea, wait about a month..ur body will let u kno when its good to go throw those suckers on And as for the potty question..there's a slit for ya. But its one of those overlapping things so its closed when ur upright lol. So I guess ur supposed to not wear undies with them..personally I can't get used to goin comando so I just do the workout of gettin them up and down all day lol. Hey..any and all exercise helps right lol
