I'll admit I danced naked this morning! Yea that's a sight you didn't want to see lol. But I'm officially down 50# from my highest weight. I don't calculate from surgery as most people do. I'm going from my highest weight the week of my pre-op diet. I have a long way to go but I feel good and I'm happy with how things are going. Everyone tries to compare losses, I look at it this way. My body is going to do its thing in its own time. I have no set date to meet my goal weight as I didn't gain areal this weight over night and it's certainly not going to come off over night. Slow and steady wins the race!

Hello BariBrothers, BariSisters, BariFamilies, and general lovers of healthy, good food. My name is Smye and I live on a small farm in the Pacific Northwest.
During both pre and post op appointments with my nutritionist, I was horrified by the suggested things I could eat once I was back to 'regular foods.' The suggestions I was given were flavorless, full of preservatives & junk, and/or otherwise reminiscent of the american 'instafoods' that are, in my opinion, a huge part of the original problems. That said, I wanted to share some of the real, whole foods I've been enjoying lately without hurting my sleeve or deviating from the dietary guidelines provided to me by my NUT. I'm down 86 lb since I started this journey on Jan 22, 2015, and loving every meal as much as, or more than, pre-op.

I've spent the last 7 years accommodating good food to meet my partner's corn, dairy, and gluten allergies without losing any of the flavor or texture with 80% of all ingredients sourced from my own small farm, so it wasn't too big of a jump to make these recipes low carb, high Protein and delicious.

Over the next few weeks I'll be posting recipes like:

    Bariatric BibimBop
    Pho
    Pastrami Sandwich
    Madras curry with fried tofu
    chicken tenders with sauce
Sushi - Philadelphia rolls in particular
    Personal Pizzas
    Smoked cherry-glazed chicken
    Barbeque-smoked chicken
    Ham and cheese omlette
    Pickled duck eggs
    Quiche
    Ham, egg & cheese sandwiches
    Bari-bread
    Guacamole Cheeseburgers
    And many more

There's no need for food to be tasteless, uninteresting, or questionable in it's contents. If there's something you'd like to see that's not here, please PM me and I'll do my best - I also make sure to try everything myself and feed it to my executive chef neighbor before I post it to ensure it's excellent!

Green Chili cheese Puff Prep time: 15 mins Cook time: 35 mins Total time: 50 mins Serves: Makes nine 3x3 squares A super easy and flavorful cheesy Protein meal that works for Breakfast, lunch, supper, or as a tapas style appetizer to serve with a glass of white wine! Melty cheddar and canned diced mild green chiles provide the winning flavor combination for a make ahead bariatric-friendly meal your entire family will love. Instead of mild green chiles, use diced ham or sauteed onions. Ingredients 8 large eggs ⅓ cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon salt Freshly ground black pepper 1 cup, small curd low fat cottage cheese 8 ounces reduced fat Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese, shredded 2 tablespoons butter, melted One, 4-ounce can diced green chilies, drained 4 or 5 scallions, thinly sliced Instructions Beat eggs until light and lemon colored - using an electric hand mixer if desired. Add flour, baking powder, salt, a few grinds of black pepper and blend until smooth. Fold in the cottage cheese, cheese, butter and chilies. Pour mixture into 8 x 8 inch glass baking dish that has been sprayed with nonstick vegetable spray. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes, until edges are slightly puffed and the very center of the puff still jiggles a bit when you move the baking dish. DO NOT OVERBAKE - for a moist cheesy texture, remove from oven when slightly underbaked as the heat will continue to cook it out of the oven. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving with favorite salsa. I made this minus the cottage cheese; added ricotta instead. I plan to take some to work to share and freeze the rest. I also did add ground beef that I seasoned as if I was making tacos. It resemble a crust-less quiche or frittata, super filling and is mostly protein. I ate my small 1/2 cup portion with a little sour cream and a dash of Tabasco. It was really good!

Recovery has been really good! Minimal pain. Getting enough fluids can be tricky, but I'm doing my best. Being able to eat again is weird. Haha. I'm on the soft food stage now. It's been good. I weighed in yesterday morning and I'm down 41 lbs!!

I love my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder. i have all the flavors, inlcuding the unflavored and chicken Soup. I just did the revision from sleeve to bypass and they were trying to get me to change at the surgeons office and I was like....no way, I am keeping what I know and love.
What I have discovered this time through that I love and am addicted to for my Water is the Isopure Zero Carb Protein Drink. It has forty grams of Protein in it, and tastes really good. It's 20 fl ounces. So I get in part of my Water and protein at the same time, which I am really happy about.
Anyway, those are my loves so far.

jredding got a reaction from anna9/15 in I'm just like him...
Being overweight is a shared trait in my family. I've struggled... we've all struggled our whole lives... My sisters and I were trying to talk my father into getting weightloss surgery. He was too ashamed and embarrassed to ask his doctor about it. He thought that he should've been able to do it himself, and that asking for help would make him weak. This past May he passed away in his sleep. He was only 58. There is no doubt in my mind that this surgery would have saved his life. My dad should still be here. In the midst of this heartbreaking time in my life, I've discovered I was just like him. I love my dad (he will forever be my Superman), and I never in a million years would have thought that being like him was a bad thing... I never had considered getting weightloss surgery for myself because like my father, I thought I should be able to do it myself. I've tried... and failed... and tried... and failed so much that I kind of lost faith in myself. I've realized that asking for help is the most courageous thing I can do. It can save my life like it should have saved my father's. My sister and I are scheduled to get gastric bypass surgery in Mexico on September 25th. I'm very excited about starting a new life with a new lifestyle, and I know that my Dad will be watching. I'm determined to make him proud.
