I've relaxed a bit about losing the weight. I seem to have a pattern where I don't lose for a few days then I lose a couple pounds etc. I realize now it's not just going to "fall off"! lol

This is normal. There's been tons of posts from people just a few weeks out panicking about the stall... but it is perfectly normal and will happen quite a bit more over the next year or two.
    http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/351046-embrace-the-stall/
I've just posted this same advice in another thread recently:
I know it can seem like you shouldn't have to deal with stalls since you went through surgery, but try to think of them as rest breaks for your body to catch up. You couldn't run flat out for 100 miles without a break - you'd need to stop every so often and catch your breath, have a few swigs of Water and get revved back up to hit that trail and run fast again. That's exactly what your body is doing - taking a breather in preparation to performing another sprint (drop a few pounds). Sometimes it might need a short rest, sometimes it might need longer (weeks). But if you keep giving it what it needs (water/protein/exercise) you'll start sprinting again.
And get out a tape measure and take measurements NOW. Arms, chest, waist, hips and thighs. You'll see during those stalls that you might just be dropping fat (it gets burned off and replaced with muscle). Since a pound of fat and a pound of muscle weigh the same, it might not show up on the scale, but fat is MUCH bulkier than muscle, so you'll see it in the tape measure and how your clothes fit.
Stalls are vital. Stalls are GOOD. It means you're hitting a new peak and getting ready for some weight loss coming up.

Deana37 reacted to Ashlegal in How much do you eat a day
In the mornings Breakfast comes in two stages.
First stage is four ounces of 2% Fairlife Milk. I keep a couple of coffee mugs in the freezer and they keep my milk cold as I sip on the milk. Even slightly less than ice cold milk is yuck!
When the rest of the family is waking up, needing Breakfast, coffee, lunches made and what not; I usually have some form of egg (usually lightly scrambled) with some shredded cheese, a little hot sauce and a few small bites of Turkey sausage (or Turkey bacon).
I stay pretty full from about 6-10 between the milk, the eggs and the turkey.
By ten I'm starting to feel hungry and will then snack on either a cheese stick, a Babybel or Tillamook cheese snack.
At lunch (between 12-1) I will have a Laughing Cow cheese wedge, spread over two thin slices of either turkey or chicken from my local deli. I usually dip them in Spicy Mustard. I don't ever need more than that but sometimes I will eat another half cheese stick. Sometimes I have shrimp (steamed from home) dipped in homemade cocktail sauce or chicken salad from my grocer. Sometimes I will eat the chicken (or egg or tuna) salad with a few Wheat Thins.
By three or three thirty I will have a Greek Yogurt. I aim for no more than 10 grams of sugar, no less than 12 grams of Protein and no more than 100 calories. This gives me lots of options. Chobani Simply 100, Dannon Light and Fit, Oikos Triple Zero. Some flavors work well with PB2 powder (Jiffy makes one that has equal nutritional value) and with that I can up my Protein intake from 12 to 16 or 17 grams of protein.
dinner is always varied but centers around lean Proteins and well cooked non-starchy veggies (green Beans, asparagus, zucchini, squash). Last night I roasted a whole chicken in my dutch oven, had a slice of that with a quarter of mashed sweet potato and a few fresh (steamed) green Beans with lemon and pepper.
My nutritional goals are at this time to consume no more than 50 grams of carbs, 600-800 calories, 20 grams of sugar and at least 50 grams of protein. I have steadily lost 2-5 pounds a week since surgery, I have never been constipated, thrown up or lethargic.
This works for me, it may not work for anyone else but my surgeon, my PCP and my NUT are happy with my plan.

Hello everyone! A little over two years ago a friend and I struggled to work out everyday. We pushed through and did it though. We were very diligent on what we ate and how much. However with fail we never lost the weight. We both struggled with weight all of our lives. One day I causally mentioned WLS to her. I told her it was something I was going to look into. Well soon after that I had some medical issues and I felt I could get the weight off myself so I didn't follow through with meeting with a surgeon. My friend did though and started her journey to a happier healthier life. Insurance approved her with a bmi over 40. She had comorbidities but didn't list them(I think). Well today she looks absolutely amazing. I am so proud of her. So with that said here I am. I have had chronic problems with gastric ulcers, gerd and joint problems. I met with my surgeon this past November. I did everything. sleep study, psych, bloodwork, cardiologist, NUT. EVERYTHING! whew. Well my paperwork was turned into Tricare and they denied it. They said I didn't have any of the listed comorbidities. My bmi is 38.7. I have PCOS, endometriosis, arthritis, gastric ulcers, gerd and severe back pain. I have been seeing a orthopedic for years now for my back pain. So my coordinator filed a appeal but I told her regardless I was going to pay for it. My surgery is scheduled for February 25th!! I can't wait. I am hoping Tricare changes their minds but if not so help me I will have this done. I am ready to change my life for the best!

I agree, I was getting bored with them 2. I am lucky to belong to a good gym, granted its more expensive than others, however I love it because I get to the classes. I burn just as many calories going to glow aerobics where I do hip hop dancing for 50 min than I do getting on that treadmill.

Lol. Yes it is! Hubby just got home and I was jumping up and down as I was telling him everything, As soon as he heard the two dates he interrupted me and said "Take the earlier one. Look at you, you're ready, and you're going to go insane waiting a month longer than you have to!" He pointed out that it isn't my plan to hide my surgery forever, so the family will find out at some point. He suggested we just tell his mom for now, ask her not to say anything, and if it leaks out, it leaks out.
He's right. As usual (its kind of annoying really).
So tomorrow I will call the office and tell them I'd like the January 25th date!

I had gastric sleeve in June, and at that time set my goal weight for 175lbs (I weighed 278 at the time with a BMI of 41--female 5'9.5"). Now I'm hovering between 173 and 175. Although my BMI is still technically overweight (25.5) the comments have already started that I might be getting too thin. I think once people get used to seeing you a certain size they have a hard time seeing you as a normal size person. Personally, I would like to lose 15 lbs for a goal of 160. I'm going to do what's best for me. Peanut gallery be damned!

So many positives from my surgery. My outlook on life, energy, and overall happiness and relationships are better. I just went for my 6 month checkup and my blood work has come back better than I ever imagined it would! Seriously, it hasn't been this good so many years. I am so thankful.
Plus, I was sitting in an assembly last week and realized I could sit and cross my legs, forgot where I was and kept crossing one then the other! Had to tell my friend to look at what I could do after many years! Then we had the office party this weekend (where I had a great time as I sipped Water and had no food, I might add!) and when it came time to play LCR I sat at the table, noticed some were sharing chairs, so I said, "Hey someone can share my chair"! I couldn't have said that a couple of months ago.
AND in less than 7 months, I am down 90 lbs!
So yes, I am happy.......I am much more healthy day by day.........I have met amazingly supportive people on this site.........and I am thankful!

Deana37 reacted to drw2 in Hello please...Not feeling well
I had a temp of 101.5 and went to the er. They completed a ct scan and it showed I might have one so my Dr went back in and it looked like at one point a I had a microscopic leak and my body repaired it. When my body did that it created a small pocket of bacteria so my Dr cleaned that up and put in two drains and a feeding tube (to my old stomach). Needless to say I've been to hell and back lol. However, despite complications (which anyone has a chance of) I wouldn't change it. God has healed me and is con't to do so :-)
I'm off of my feeding tube. I still have it in, for the next four weeks bc my stomach has to heal around it before it can be pulled. I got my last drain out last week.
I hope this doesn't scare anyone but seriously I wouldn't change it. I knew the risks going in but of course didn't think they'd happen to me but they did and I had/have an amazing Dr. who has taken wonderful care of me.
As for liquids, I'm trying so hard. I literally sip all day and I'm having hard time getting 64oz in. I usually get my Protein in but today I can't stomach the shakes.

Hey everyone! I'm a 35 year old beautiful wife and mother of 4, I'm new for the most part. I'm scheduled for surgery on January 27 and I was hoping to find someone who was having the surgery around the same time that would want to talk. For motivation, worries, support, someone who is literally in this process at the same point in time as me.

I just did the intro class for the weight loss surgery program, and requested to be formally referred to the program. In reading these forums, it appears everyone has a different path to surgery. I would like to know what everyone's requirements were for surgery (i.e. how much weight you had to lose, what tests you had to get done, etc.), how long was the process, and did you have concerns over the risk factors involved?
