    I had surgery 7/14/15

Sunsetgirl67 - I had surgery the day before you in Pensacola!! I'd love to connect with you and go on our journey together! I can definitely relate to what you're experiencing! Send me an email to cro1028@gmail.com and let's go through this learning experience together!!
  2. Thank you everyone for the support and information. I am in what my surgeon calls Stage 3 eating which is 60 - 62 grams of protein per day. I told my NUT how much walking I was doing and he said that was ok. Admittedly, about half the walking is walking my two big dogs which actually translates to "walk sniff walk pee walk walk stop sniff walk" rather than full on walking. I spoke with one of the nurses available to us today and she told me to keep doing what my paperwork says and to let them know in a week or two if things don't change and they'll have me come in for some tests. Not exactly the help I was hoping for. I'm thinking I'll go back to just the protein shakes for a few days and see what happens. Also thinking about calling my primary care physician and going in to see one of her nutritionists. I'm trying not to beat myself up and resist the scale/number game. I really appreciate your replies and advice. Thanks again!
  3. Sajijoma- Thank you so much for replying. I'm going to check with the doctor today. I hadn't thought about starvation mode. My surgeon suggests 60 grams protein until week 6 but you have a good point about the exercise thing. I truly appreciate your support. It's comforting to know I'm not out here in my own.
  4. Hey there! I am 5 weeks out from a gastric bypass revision and am feeling incredibly frustrated. I am following my surgeon's directions to the letter (60 grams of protein per day); drinking at least 80 ounces of water every day; and walking 5-6 miles every day. For the past 2.5 weeks, I have not lost so much as an ounce. I met with the dietician from the surgery group who only confused me and contradicted all the written information is been given pre- and post-surgery. I left his office in tears of frustration last week because I don't understand how I could be doing everything right (by the guidelines given to me), having a caloric intake of less than 600 calories per day, exercising and drinking lots of water and seeing no progress. I'm going to call the doctor's office tomorrow to see if I can meet with someone else to discuss my concerns. At this point I regret having the surgery and am feeling very lost, sad, and frustrated. Any words of wisdom for me?
  5. Hey there! I had surgery 7/13 and would really like to find a mentor or someone else in a similar phase. I live in NW Florida but location really isn't an issue as I'm assuming most of the mentoring goes on online. Hope to hear from someone soon!

    2 Weeks Post-Op: Nausea

Thanks catwoman7 and Djmohr! I was surprised when they sent me home from the hospital with a list of foods I should be eating (small meals throughout the day as long as I got in 60 gm Protein. I definitely feel better just on the protein shakes although the nausea when I am sitting at my desk or standing for a bit is killing me. They're calling in a higher dose of nausea meds for me and I am hoping that helps some. I might have gone back to work a little early (OK - I admit, I did. One week out of surgery I went in for a half day for 3 of the days). Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Today I went to Walmart to pick up a few things. About halfway through I had to leave because I felt so light-headed/nauseous. Feeling better now that I am home although totally drained from my excursion. I am hoping to get my energy back soon. I understand it takes time. I am just impatient!
  7. Hey there! I am two weeks out from a RNY revision. I lost an astounding 22 pounds the first week and just 5 this week. I know I am expecting too much but it was a shock to see the difference. Here are my questions: 1. Is anyone else dealing with post-op nausea ONLY when they are sitting up (like in a desk chair)? I am fine when I am in my recliner but when I try to sit at my desk or attend a meeting, I am incredibly nauseous. I am drinking between 80-100 ounces of Water a day and getting my 60 gm of Protein in religiously. I am walking between 2.5 - 3 miles each day. Any thoughts? 2. After coming home from the hospital, the nutritionist advised me to eat 3 small meals each day (pureed foods). I did ok for about 3 days. Now I am finding that the thought of eating "real" food makes me sick. Foods that I did fine on right after surgery (shaved turkey, thin sliced cheese - things from the food list they gave me) make me so sick to my stomach that I can't even bear to try to eat them. I am back on just the Protein shakes recommended by my doctor and a little yogurt during the day. That doesn't bother me at all but I am curious why it changed so drastically. Has anyone else experienced this?
